“Comfortable diggings”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

A quite new , but very comfortable hotel. In a back street in Shan wan it was a short walk to the mtr and not that far to walk to one Financial centre which included Central station. Rooms are typical hotel room style, not large but have all the mod.cons which was fine for short trip to Hong Kong. Breakfast was included and whilst that was useful it wasn't great.

Room Tip: Can see the Harbour from the higher rooms

This was my second stay in this hotel and I find it decent value hotel in Hong Kong island. As a platinum member I was "upgraded" to a room in a higher floors. I assume the room itself was same than rooms in the lower floors. The upgrade came with complimentary cookies and some soft drinks - nice gesture.

The room is still in good condition but smallish on side. Anyway the room was quite comfortable and functional. The amenities are typical HIX, meaning you will get dental kits, hand soap, shampoo-body soap combo and shower gaps. You may call room service for complimentary razor etc.

Staff was friendly and did their best to meet customer requirements and requests.

Breakfast was a bit of disappointment as it was awfully crowded and had limited variety of food. The outdoor terrace was nice though.

Hotel is located in kind of a back alley, but still within walking distance to the metro, train and city area. Taxi from the airport train station was around 30HKD + luggage fee. If you're travelling without luggage it will only take 10-15minutes to walk to the train station.

One of the better Holiday Inn Express hotels I have stayed.

Located about 500 Metres from Sheung Wan MTR and Tram station, Place is close to money changers offering the best rates in Hong Kong. Neat but small rooms (But room in this central areas are very expensive). Breakfast is good. Vegetarians only get Bread, Butter Jam, red beans, Cornflakes and some fruits other than one another Chinese dish.
Overall a nice place to stay. Few flip sides, packaged water bottles were kept near the wash.

Stayed 4 nights with my 2 adult daughters last week.i loved most of all the breakfast buffet that was included in our rate. It is true that they serve the same breakfast every day, but if you look at it this way, you start your day right with a choice of yogurt, coffee, banana, scrambled eggs and sausage and a traditional congee with peanuts and preserved radishes ( which we loved and ate every day). You save time and money. You can thus explore the city tummy filled and pick a decent place for lunch afterwards. The service at the restaurant was very good (special thanks C.K. Who was amazing). We sat in the beautiful outdoor patio with huge canopy every morning, enjoying the tranquility while sipping coffee. Our room faced the hills and we loved it. We loved the spacious walk in shower. The service at the reception equally put us in a comfort zone. We fit in snuggly in the room with not much space to spare but with a little organizing we are happy campers. When you travel you ought to be in a holiday mood. Be happy with what you booked. This hotel certainly goes beyond it's expectations in terms of the money we paid for. Yes, will return :)

The Holiday Inn Express Soho is located in the Sheung Wan area of the Island side of Hong Kong. It is a perfect location for any activities you have planned in Hong Kong. First of all it is extremely easy to reach if you are flying into Hong Kong. From the arrivals hall at the airport, walk straight ahead, same level to the airport express train. Buy your ticket and board the train to either the Kowloon station or the Hong Kong station, which is the station if you are heading to the island side. Once at the city stations, take the H1 bus. There are many attendants there to direct you if you do not see the sign immediately. The busses leave every 20 minutes. The Holiday Inn is the first stop and the bus drops you off on the side of the hotel. You can pick up the bus here also to return to the airport. A schedule is posted on a pole sign there. Now, for the hotel. It has been classified as a Green Hotel and by both the US and Hong Kong building authorities. It is relatively new so it is clean and modern. There is a tiny lobby with limited seating and really no view outside. The guest rooms are adequately spacious for one or two people. A huge bathroom, actually the shower could have been made smaller and the room a bit bigger, but not really a drawback. The beds are queen size, very comfortable, firm and the bedding and pillows were top quality. Lots of pillows. There is a desk, and love seat sofabed, with full length windows. We asked for a high floor so we could get a view of the harbor, but they gave us floor 19, which is low considering the guest rooms start on the 8th floor and rise to the 37th. However we did face the water and had a slight view of the water thru 2 high rise buildings. So ask for a high floor and see what you get. The rooms are very comfortable, with wifi connectivity great. Electric plugs for laptops and spare Hong Kong adapter plugs in case you didn't bring them. There is coffee/tea and 2 bottles of water per day. No fitness center or pool, but a common room, with 3 computers, one an apple. Also a laundry room which we used, but they were expensive. There are 3 elevators and only 10 guest rooms per floor. The elevator is at one end and 5 rooms on each side of the hall. The hotel is skinny but tall. The breakfast is on the second floor and there are large amounts of people waiting for elevators at all times, but this room is also a Thai restaurant at night and is busy also. Go down for breakfast early to avoid any waiting. The selection of food is mediocre. lots of Asian items, limited Western itmes, but it will get you started for the day. Find out if the hotel has any groups staying there. When I was there it was full of attendees at the IT show at the convention center. Once they checked out the elevators were more manageable. The staff is friendly and speak good English. The area around the hotel is convenient to the island line subway. Also many restaurants and shops and food stores in the neighborhood. Highly recommended for its location, friendly staff, ease from the airport, and well maintained property. We payed about $175/night which for Hong Kong is not bad, free breakfast and free wifi.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, can't hurt.

Stayed over only for 1 night on Transit on the way back from Macau. It’s basically is good if you are a business person travelling and want a good and clean hotel. Rooms are really small so will not recommend for families with young kids or with large bags. Close to the metro so you can travel around.

It’s very centrally located and walking distance from the main party area (don’t recall the name). Was there on a Saturday so there was an insane amount of people who were drinking on the streets and having jello shots in syringes. Great Experience.
