“Good Choice”

Good quality with rooms serviced every day. Breakfast & dinner buffet excellent quality and value for money. While hotel may appear a little out of the center it is not an issue due to free shuttle bus and the tram system which passes 5 minutes walk away from the hotel.

Room Tip: Ensure non-smoking room and you will be higher up and get a view of the harbour between the building...

I like Traders Hotels and this one is no exception!
Clean comfortable bedrooms, very good friendly service and breakfast on the 28th floor overlooking Victoria Harbour is a feature for guests on the Traders Club floors.
Situated slightly out of the centre but taxis are cheap. I will return

you can practically take short taxi rides to reach to central attractions in HK. The rooms are small but ergonomically designed. The breakfast on the executive floor was superb and I had a good stay.

Given that this hotel was a good deal cheaper than the other 4* hotels I was expecting a compromise, but the only thing I can fault with this hotel is the location, which is about 20 mins on the tram from Central (ferries and the airport extress train). However, I love trams and the HK ones are so old fashioned and ricketty I was almost looking forward to using them!

They upgraded us to the north-facing harbour views for this 2 night stay, which was nice of them, but given that even at night you can't see too much of Kowloon, so this I don't think this is worth paying the 20% extra they were asking.

The room was aslo bigger than I was anticipating - pretty average, versus my global experience - and in good condition. They WiFi reception was poor and kept dropping out, but they has a couple of computers on the 28th floor you could use for free.

Would recommend it for both leisure and business travellers.

Room Tip: Harbour view probably not worth paying extra for. Be aware there is a single lane flyover on the eas...

Although it does not reach the level of refinement of Shangri-La hotels (a group to which it belongs) the Traders is a very good hotel.Modern, very clean,decent-size rooms (was on Traders floor),comfortable bedding, large shower, all the necessary amenities. My only complaint is about the size of the closet (3 suits and it is full).Breakfast on the 28th floor is very enjoyable(not the usual large cafeteria but a cosy lounge atmosphere,a small open kitchen with a good buffet, and a beautiful view over the harbor). The Traders lounge is open all day ( free drinks and, in the late afternoon, free snacks). The pool on the roof is a plus,as is the free internet. The staff is always very friendly and hepful.
The Traders is not located in a touristy section of Hong Kong (Western district). The advantage: far from the crowds of Kowloon or Causeway Bay you enjoy a more quiet and traditional section of the city (although you will find ,next door, the unavoidable McDonald and KFC fast food). The disadvantage:if you are on a tight schedule you may get nervous from the moment you leave the hotel. There is no MTR (subway)station close-by, public transportation (trams and buses) may be fun (if you are a tourist or have kids) but they are slow and can be a real mess during rush hours, the hotel shuttle to Central operates every hour and stops in the evening. The only way is to catch a taxi (a few US dollars and a 15 minute drive to Central) but you may have to wait to find one.
However there is a good news. In 2014 the new West Island MTR line will be operational. The Traders hotel will be close to a new station. It will then deserve its 5th star.

Room Tip: Traders Club, top floors

The rooms are very nice and stylish considerin the price. The staff was very friendly and happy to help all the time. We're not used to somebody running in front of us to open doors and press elevator buttons, but that was nice. The asian over friendliness and service attitude was apparent here, which was a good thing. The immediate neighbourhood is genuine (as in not too stylish). Most of the central locations aren't right next to the hotel.

Too bad the breakfast wasn't included in the price, I would have given this an excellent overall rating in that case. I guess I'm hesitating to do so as I haven't been to a 5-star hotel yet. Too bad our already short stop-over in HK was shortened by one day because of delaying departure from our previous destination. Even so, this is definately one of the best hotels I've been to and one of the best in this price group.

At a quarter the price of the Mandarin Oriental, the Traders meets the technical specification for a 4 star - just scarecely. Rooms are small and there is no hanging clothes storage space. The restaurant is an amiable student canteen with a cross selection of European and Asian staples, wholesome, not gourmet. Friendly staff, efficient and helpful. Location means this is a poor choice business hotel and overall there is little character but the budget price speaks loudly
