“Breathtaking out of the world experience and yes Indian Veg Food :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2013

I think every hotel owner in India must stay in this place and at least aspire to give at least 10% of the service. The super efficient reception cleared the reservation formalities and was kind enough to give the room facing the harbor. You are spellbound upon entering the room as the room is hsa uninterrupted view of the harbor and the city from two sides and the third side is a full mirror. with lights off you feel that you are in an open terrace on the 40th Floor.
The sleep quality was fantastic as the quality of bed and linen was impeccable. The breakfast spread is something that anybody can eat till lunch. Though being a vegetarian i had limited choices. But one of the staff approached me at the coffee shop and going by my Indian looks she informed that there was Indian veg food available. They served mini naans and dal makhni and two other dishes (much better than what you get at punjabi restaurants here) So breakfast ended up being brunch.
The hotel is very well located in the heart of central hong kong. it is walkable or a very short drive from the business district. The shopping areas are nearby and one can conveniently take the tram. Sogo Central area is a good place to shop. Plenty of street shopping around there.
We went to Gaylords at Kowloon for Dinner and forgot for a moment that we are out of India.
Overall this is the best hotel i have ever been to. If budget is not a constraint then there is no option better than this.

Room Tip: Chose the higher floor rooms facing the harbor and you will write a similar review!

Stayed there for two nights. The location and the view from the room is fantastic. However the whole facility is relatively old. The stuff was friendly but check in/our both were very slow. the breakfast is not too bad.

Located at Pacific Place, this property is conveniently located near the Admiralty Metro station as well as modern shopping experiences at the Admiralty Centre complex. With some modest effort, you can also walk to more traditional sight-seeing and shopping experiences along Hollywood Road, the Escalators, and the Cat Street Galleries.

This property is well staffed and maintained, and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our multiple-night stay. Our room, just off the club level, was of average size by Hong Kong standards, thoughtfully appointed, and we were quite comfortable. We also enjoyed the hospitality offered by the excellent staff at the executive lounge.

I stayed here for 3 nights and the location was great. The rooms were very clean. I grabbed a quick bite for breakfast in the coffee shop off the lobby (the coffee was great!). The gym was top notch; nice equipment, sauna and hot tub. It was probably the best gym I have used at a hotel. The staff was very friendly. I would definately stay again next time I am in Hong Kong for business

This is a five star hotel in terms of facilities and the quality of the environment. It is not a five star hotel in terms of putting customers first. Everything is fine until you reach a point where you Are not satisfied with something and at that point all that matters to the hotel management is the bottom line. money trumps customers - in this instance there was an error made somewhere between expedia.co.uk, where the booking was made, and the hotel regarding the type of room we had booked. To cut a very long story short the management chose to ignore irrefutable evidence that the error wasn't the customers error but both expedias error and their own staffs error, just so the could collect another few pounds...Thus is a five star mercenary experience

The JW Marriott at Pacific Place, Central, Hong Kong is the hotel against which I compare all others. Great location, wonderful accommodations, excellent restaurants, and the nicest most attentive staff one could ask for. This JW is, in my opinion, one of the top hotels in the world.
There are many options in HK, but none better than this.

We stayed at the JW Marriott for 7 nights as part of a 3 week trip to Asia. This was our first visit to Hong Kong. We took the Airport Express to Hong Kong station and then the free hotel bus to the Marriott. This was a really easy and straight forward way to get there. The hotel buses are well signposted once you get off the airport express and the shuttle bus goes every 20 mins. H1 is the bus for the Marriott and the Pacific Place hotels are the first stop, the Marriott being the 4th of the Pacific Place stops.

Check in was efficient and friendly, in fact the friendliness of all the staff at the Marriott was remarkable. Thanks to my girlfriends Marriott Gold Card we were given a room on the 32 floor overlooking the harbour. The JW is a block or 2 back from the shore and the distance seems to be increasing thanks to land reclamation but the view was still amazing. There are other hotels with better views of the harbour but I never tired of watching the boats move to and fro.
The JW is an excellent base for sightseeing and traveling around Hong Kong. There is direct access to the MTR from the mall under the hotel and there are tram and bus stops just outside.
There are many restaurants in the Pacific Mall as well as a great supermarket on the bottom floor. Most of the rest of the shops are seriously upmarket, quite a lot of window shopping going on but we didn't see many purchases being made!

You can access a number of other hotels from the mall without going outside, we had drinks in both the Conrad and the Shangri La. Whilst we only can compare the lobbies, bars and staff friendliness we preferred the JW to the other hotels.

The swimming pool at the JW was closed for renovations while we were there, this was disappointing because we weren't informed before hand, in fact the hotel website said that the pool had re-opened in February after a major renovation. We were able to use the pools at the Conrad and the Shangri La.
Our room was beautifully appointed, very comfortable bed, great desk and armchair - can't see anyone getting much work done with that view! The bathroom had everything you would expect. Seperate shower with good water pressure.
The only thing of note that was lacking were power sockets! Only 2 in the whole room, with 2 ipads, and 3 phones to charge as well as using the hairdryer and iron 2 sockets didn't quite cut it!

The food and beverage outlets in the hotel are many and varied. We had the choice of having breakfast either in the Executive lounge on the 33rd/34th Floor or the Marriott Cafe. We chose the Marriott Cafe at the Lobby level, mainly because of the much broader buffet selection and more space. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, great food and good service.
We visited the Executive Lounge most evenings for a drink before dinner, wine and spirits are available in the lounge between 5.30pm and 8pm. The lounge is on 2 floors, food and drink downstairs with more seating upstairs. The views make it a great spot for an early evening drink.

We chose to eat out most nights to experience Hong Kong although we did eat in the Marriott Cafe one evening and had lunch in the Lobby Lounge once. Both were very fine in an international hotel sort of way.
The Lobby Lounge seemed to be full every day at lunchtime, it seems to be a firm favourite with people who live and work nearby.
The Q88 wine bar is the hotel's bar. It has a great selection of wines by the glass. The live entertainment was interesting! A reasonably good band but way too loud! A number of people were complaining about the volume, so much so that the band took to announcing that if you didnt like the volume 'you were in the wrong place' That would be fine in a club or an external bar but the Q88 is the only bar in the hotel. The bands attitude was rude, arrogant and bizarre! We simply asked to take our wine out to the Lobby Lounge, this was accommodated very efficiently and was quite obviously a regular occurrence.
We had a wonderful week at the JW Marriott with the outstanding memory being the friendliness of the staff. We would definitely return.
