We were recommended the Excelsior by our consultant at Travelbag when we booked a trip to see family in Australia. We stayed for 3 nights on the way out and it was a fantastic base and very comfortable. It was the perfect stopover, 3 nights giving us plenty of time to get over the journey (economy) and enabling us to see some of a place we've long wished to visit. The room was very comfortable, breakfast superb - you could choose from just about any cuisine you fancied - and the staff were very helpful. My husband lost a filling and the concierge sorted out a dental appointment for him the same day.
Centrally situated, it was very easy to get around - the metro was very cheap and quick and easier than walking.

There is no better location than this hotel in HK! Though room is a bit old, check in takes a long time and room is not ready when check in...I still love it because you can just step out of the hotel and find everything from food, shopping to entertainment at your finger tips!

Best view ever to see the countdown firework on New Year eve too....

If you are not spending too much time in the hotel (who does that in HK anyway?) stay here and you will know what I meant!

Concierge service is a plus - for arranging my airport shuttle bus at only HKD150, on time, hassle free!

I stayed here for couple of nights due to business. I did not know anything of the hotel before my visit, booking was done by local associates.

The pros
- Good location near Causeway bay shopping
- Decent breakfast
- Good buffet lunch

The cons
- Price value, as room rates were much over 2000 HK$ per night (better options available)
- Room itself was not very spacious
- My room and overall the hotel looks bit tired
- Service is pretty average
- My view from the room was pretty bad (backside of building)

To sum it up; Excelsior is not great hotel, I would rather describe it to be one of those ok hotels, which you after couple of years can not remember by name. Everything works ok, is of decent quality. Hotel deserves 3 star rating on my scale. Would prefer staying elsewhere = better price value.

I stayed here for a very short business trip and was extremely happy. Check in was fast and friendly as was the concierge. My room was nice sized, and i received a complimentary bottle of wine, chocolates and fruit platter. I am very easily won over by such things....
Only thing that put me off a little was that it is used by many of the airline staff. Also, I was on the 12th floor but the noise from drunken people in the nearby bars was extremely noisy all night.
Would definitely stay here again

The hotel was renovated since my last trip 5-6 years ago. The hotel room is reasonable arranged to leave you more space. Sofa is embedded into the wall and my room is facing the harbor which looks nice.

Internet works fine although you would experience a slow down sometime @ night when every one returns from the business meetings.

The best part of it is the breakfast and you should not miss it if your hotel package includes it. This is one of the few hotels that offer freshly squeezed fruit juice with a variety of choices. It is probably one of the reason that I choose to book this hotel.

The hotel staff are very friendly and you got everyday fruit basket.
