Every aspect of our stay was excellent from check in to check out. We stayed in a Horizon Club room. The view from the 53 floor was amazing. The amenities exceeded expectations. The took us to the airport in the Island Shangri-La's own Rolls Royce. It does not get any better the this!

Room Tip: Stay in a Horizon Club Room. Definitely worth the money.

Our stay at the Shangri-La was incredible. We have never received such excellent service. The Concierge Desk was very helpful, the room was beautiful, and the Petrus Restaurant was remarkable. But most of all, it seemed that every staff person was genuinely glad to see us.

A really fantastic hotel, could not recommend more. Very good staff, great location. Also very quiet as all the rooms are high. Rooms are a big size which is rare in Hong Kong. Pretty good value iof you can get a deal

Enjoyed a one night stay at the Island Shangri La and everything about this hotel says elegance, from the majestic foyer full of flowers, the beautiful Chinese painting and the well appointed rooms. Room was spacious and tea, fruit and chocolates welcome you on arrival. Loved the Shangri La touch of placing a copy of the 'Lost Horizon' on my bedside. So much to choose from for breakfast in Café Too. Will stay again on my next visit and hope to have a room with a harbour view next time.

I have stayed here several times and see absolutely no reason to go elsewhere! Handy to Central (walking distance) and also near other shopping centres, the airport roast rail link, yet not among the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong streets it is a perfect stop whether for an overnight before flights/cruise or a longer stay.
Yes it is fairly pricey but the comfort, cleanliness, security and beautiful interiors are worth every cent!

As a seasoned luxury traveller and Hong Kong resident, I must say the Island Shangri-La is one of the best hotels in Hong Kong. As soon as you step into the grand lobby the scent of luxury fills your nose. The hotel lobby and most restaurants are near ground level, the hotel accommodation occupies the 39th to 56th floors of the building.

Although I only stayed in a Deluxe Harbour View Room, room 4504, the accommodation was very luxurious and comfortable. Rooms with harbor view are a relatively spacious for Hong Kong with 45 sq.m, there is a luxurious marble bathroom with double sink and separate bath, shower and bidet. The aesthetics of the bathroom are very nice; however, it must be noted that the water pressure was not very high. Amenities provided are well up to standard for a hotel of this high price range as they were l'Occitane.

Standard rooms have large closet spaces with ironing facilities available. The bedding consists of high thread count sheets and feather blankets and offers a very good sleep, unlike some other overpriced hotels in the city hotels where one may sweat due to artificial fibres in the blankets. The room is well designed and has a grand flare to it. The study area has a fax machine and there are electronically operated curtains. The room’s air conditioning can be adjusted and the temperature responds well. Staying in room 4504, the view of the skyscrapers and Harbour was amazing.

The Lobby Lounge is a very nice venue for drinks or afternoon tea, both sweet and savoury orders are prepared to a very high quality and the service here is excellent. There is also a nice grand atmosphere in the tiered lounge with its large glass windows, at certain hours during teatime there is a string quartet playing. I highly recommend going to the Lobby Lounge.

The pool facilities of the hotel are quite inviting and there is a medium-sized pool with an adjacent alfresco dinning area. Thai and Asian specialty cuisine is served at Waterside Terrace, the food quality and service is good.

The main coffee shop of the hotel, Café TOO, serves a very extensive buffet breakfast at approximately HK$300, not too over-priced, and fitting to many other 5-star hotels in the city, the choices at Café TOO are very comprehensive though, with dishes from all around the world prepared to the very highest quality. The restaurant also serves a very extensive buffet dinner, which may be a bit too filling, for HK$750.

The hotel also has a Patisserie and Cake Shop for light meals; the cakes are of excellent quality.

The hotel is conveniently located above the Pacific Place Mall Complex, and is connected though indoor walkways to the shopping centre. It is an approximate 10-minute walk from the MTR underground system of Admiralty Station. It is a good location for both tourist and business travellers and one station away from Central.

In summation, the Island Shangri-La is an excellent hotel with some of the finest accommodation in the city. The cuisine offered in its many restaurants is of a very high quality, and there are good recreation facilities available. There is a unique feeling of grandeur that is experienced when walking though the traditional elegantly lobbies and corridors, a kind of bliss that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the city below. I highly recommend to stay in this hotel if you are to go visit Hong Kong and I will certainly return in the near future.

Room Tip: I advise booking a room with harbor view as the view is amazing
