We just can't bring ourselves to stay anywhere else other than the Island Shangri-la when visiting Hong Kong.

The service is consistently high, staff is professional and friendly, location is great.

We love going down to the Island Gourmet at the bottom of the Pacific Place shopping mall. It has everything you could think of for a great casual lunch or quick snack.

Rooms are a good size, housekeeping is consistently good and bathrooms are well stocked with quality amenities.

Can't go past this one.

Special mention to Eddy in the Horizon Lounge - very friendly and offered great service and Natalie who greeted us and ensured our stay was going well.

We stayed here for 4 nights in total as a stop over in HK, both on our way to and back from NZ. We cannot fault the level of service and the staff at the hotel. We received a very special level of personal care from everyone, nothing was too much trouble and everyone was incredibly helpful. The food at breakfast, the famous Cafe Too buffet and the Thai restaurant was exemplary.
The rooms were tastefully decorated with stunning views. The beds were very comfortable indeed and the ambiance is quiet and peaceful.
The location is excellent - a short walk to Admiralty station on the MTR and therefore very easy to access the key sites in Hong Kong such as the peak, Kowloon etc
We are just trying to think of excuses to come back and stay again!
Keep up the great work please :)

Room Tip: The higher you go the better the view gets. And don't worry - the elevators are very efficient

Arriving at this hotel after a stay at the Shangri - la in Tokyo, you would not believe that they are members of the same chain. The Tokyo Shangri la is possibly one of the nicest big city hotels I have ever stayed in. Hong Kong is probably one of the most disappointing. The hotel is looking tired and old fashioned. The rooms are large but outdated. The view was nothing special and the windows were so dirty it was not even clear. What really let this hotel down though was the poor and rude service on check in. We had 3 rooms booked and after being transferred by the hotel from the airport only 2 rooms were available which was fine. Check in was done in one of the rooms but the woman doing the check in was rude and abrupt. She asked for a credit card and then immediately took a call (which seemed to be a private call) on her mobile. We waited for her to finish the call and she then snapped at us because we hadn't handed over the credit card. We had just been waiting for her to finish her call. She then asked for an email address to be written on the room details which we did and she then again snapped at us that we hadn't given her an email address which we had. She didn't explain anything about the room or the amenities included in our reservation. Later when the third room became available we found that it smelt strongly of smoke despite the fact that it was a non smoking room on a non smoking floor. The hotel must have known that this was the case as it was not available when we checked in as it was being cleaned despite this they waited for us to complain before allocating another room. The hotel also tried to over charge us when we checked out. Over all there are much better hotels in Hong Kong so don't waste your money staying here!

We selected this hotel as it's on my company's preferred supplier list so thought it was a safe option for vacation as well. The check in experience was seamless - straight to the room and bags followed swiftly. The hotel transfer was perfect as well. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms spotless. We were extremely impressed with the amazing concierge team - rarely do you come across such a knowledgable and happy team for whom nothing is too much trouble - restaurant recommendations were tailored to meet our requests (from the Michelin star summer palace to a local burger restaurant, Italian, Argentinian etc) and we relied very heavily on the team for directions everywhere - a huge thank you to the wonderful team who made us feel very well looked after indeed and enabled us to experience things we would not otherwise have done. Valet staff were very helpful and always ensured taxi drivers knew where to take us, regularly giving us cards so we didn't get lost. The hotel has a great location near a lovely park and island peak where you can catch a tram to the summit. One small irritation was the buffet breakfast - a great selection of quality food but after 10am stocks run very low and we had to constantly ask for refills - the bill delivery was super efficient but we wish the food availability was the same. The choices of which breakfast were not splined and we were overcharged but once pointed out we received an efficient refund. Overall it was an excellent experience and we would definitely return to this hotel. The rooms are not as modern as some hotels we stay out but for us the staff made it special and the location is perfect. Thanks to a great team.

Room Tip: We had Harbour facing rooms. I think mountain view would also be great.

This is my third stay, first being late 90's and then mid 2000. It looks like the same old gaudy flowery decor - a characteristic of Shang hotels catered for the older or European crowd. The rooms are indeed big but the decor is tired and aged. While there is wifi, it does appear that the hotel has trouble catching up with its newer edgier competitors that cater for the internet and smart phone savvy travellers. There are just electrical plugs here while competitors have already installed USB charging outlets at the writing desk.

The service was impeccable with personalised in room check in and the staff was nice enough to offer the loan of attire when she realised that the airline had missed sending my luggage with my flight. The gym is small but well maintained. Gina was also great to help with look for a suitable pair of shoes to use in the treadmill.

Shang is one of the three hotels within the Admiralty/Pacific Place area. The area is basically dead at night given that it is mainly an office building area.. Front desk reminded me that even the convenience stores close are 10-10.30 pm. Will I stay in this area again when my office is at IFC/Central area ( HK/CentrL being MTR stops away from Admiralty) Well, unlikely.

Now, if I have to then stay in this area then will I pick Shang out of the three? Again, unlikely especially if Conrad and Marriott are offering better rates and a fresher feel. Note though I stayed in Conrad 2 years ago and the service was nothing special.
It's a mixed bag really.

Just heading home after 8 days in Hong Kong, staying at the Shangrila. It is not only a stunning property, but the staff are incredibly friendly and very proactive. My room was great and the breakfast buffet superb. Add to this complimentary in room wifi and you have the makings of a great hotel.

Room Tip: There is an electric car and driver - you can use it by making an HK$50 "donation", makes...

As usual Shangri-La Hotels have this capacity of creating such a delicate atmosphere through an outstanding service , a very impressive style full of arts and colours harmoniously displayed . Such a Relaxing Stay during a Business Trip of 48H .

Room Tip: The Harbour View is simply Outstanding -
