Reviewed 30 July 2014

We won't stay at this hotel again. After traveling throughout mainland China and staying at many four and five star hotels, we were disappointed to end our trip at the Regal Kowloon. First big issue was the lack of wifi. We could've paid an additional US$20 or so per day for up to two devices, but didn't want to incur the extra expense, so we used the free 15 minutes of lobby wifi access. You get to use it for 15 continuous minutes once every twelve hours during your stay. Talk about nickle and dime-ing your guests! It made the hotel feel "cheap" to us. Next, we arrived at noon to check in... after waiting thirty minutes in line to check in, we were told to come back at 3:00 to get the key, and yes, we'd have to stand in the line again. Of course, we then stood in line (starting at 2:30) for another forty-five minutes to get the key! Our room was fine with decent furniture, but there were three of us so they added a small rollaway bed for my daughter but didn't remove any of the other furniture. We had to request that several tables and chairs be removed so we could walk around the room without bumping into things. The bathroom sink and tub drains backed up and there was no place to hang the wet towels after we showered, so they never really dried. The room issues were minor problems, but we were already unhappy with no wifi and the wasted time standing in line. Two nights were plenty at this hotel!

Dear Guest
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are disappointed that you won't be staying with us due to the lack of free wifi. Most of our OTA's and our own Regal Web offer free wifi throughout one's stay it is unfortunate your booking source did not offer this service.
Our free service is really designed for people just visiting the hotel as opposed to staying. Should you decide to return to Hong Kong whether it be our hotel or another, may I suggest you look at offers that are available for making your stay more comfortable. Of course, we would love to have you stay with us again and that you take advantage of the offer we have on our Regal Website.
Again thank you for sharing your feedback which we will definitely take on board.
Best regards

We have just returned from 8 nights holiday staying at the Regal Kowloon. First impressions count! The photos just don't do the hotel justice. We were promptly greeted at the airport by the hotel driver who transported us the approx 40 minute drive to Kowloon. On arriving at the hotel we were quickly checked in and shown to our rooms.
Location:
The hotel is located very centrally in Kowloon. It took us only five minutes to walk to nearest train station. Buses are located across the road and taxis line up out front. There are many small shopping plazas within 2-3 minutes walk, including a small supermarket. Many restaurants nearby that offer very affordable dining options.

Rooms:
We were in the 13th floor in an executive club room. Our room was very spacious with loads of storage so we could unpack suitcases. King bed was comfortable, however, after the first night we did ask for a topper pad to be added which made it much softer. Each night our beds were turned down and bathrooms freshened.

Club lounge:
The club lounge was fantastic. The staff were extremely welcoming, greeting us personally each time we arrived. They continually demonstrated professional service. Breakfast was a mix of hot and cold buffet. During the day tea, coffee, cold drinks, and freshly baked biscuits were available. From 5-8pm alcoholic beverages and a mix of tapas, soup, cheeses etc were available.

Restaurants:
We dined at mezzo which was an American Italian restaurant. The menu was varied and had something to each diner. Once agin the service was exemplary.
My husband dined at the Japanese restaurant and raved about it.

We spent a night at the Venetian in Macau which was great but we were quite pleased to return "home" to the Regal. Thank you for making our stay such a pleasant one. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Definitely choose an executive room

I was back in Hong Kong again for my usual bi-annual trip. I always stay at the Regal Club floor and the staff there are excellent. They always remember my name and really make me feel at home. Well done to Sinis, Heily and Vivian that always look after me so well. The chocolate / chocolate chip cookies are to die for at afternoon tea !! Also to Yolanda Chan for taking care of my booking and Maureen Hung who always finds time to say hello to me in her busy schedule.

Five-day convention visit arranged by travel department, and we weren't expecting much from the hotel. However the room was spacious and attractive with excellent bath. Included breakfast buffet was very good. The staff was very helpful throughout. Excellent Kowloon location. The only real complaint was that Internet was expensive ($15 per day) ...supposedly free for Executive Club, so you might want to check that out. We would go back again.

Was here for 5 nights in June 14, with my family for a holiday trip to Hong Kong .

The good :

Room was in 15th floor, very spacious and clean. They have only one smoking room floor, so you need to ask for it.
View from our room was facing the garden and partially the Victoria Harbour. 15 mins walk from Tsim Tsa Tshui East MRT and also same time to reach Nathan road. Locationally very convenient.

The bad :

Food in the hotel is exorbitantly costly, but just across the garden opposite the hotel there are wonderfully affordable , quality restaurants ranging from Thai, Japanese, European. A buffet dinner for one person in the hotel costs HKD 360, while you can have a filling dinner for 2 people at the restaurants opposite the hotel for less than HKD 250.

The ugly :

The biggest drawback of the hotel is it has NO CUSTOMER LOUNGE. If you come before 2 pm, which is their check in time, you are I'm for trouble with your baggage and no where to even sit. Another drawback is the bell boys are not proactive in taking your luggage to the room unless you "tip" them. I have travelled all over the world, this was the first time I found that you need to pay the bellboys to carry the luggage.

It was World Cup football time, and they had no channels telecasting the same, reason being they are pay channels. That was disgusting. When I asked for pay channel, they said they don't have that facility. So for 5 nights I missed World Cup matches.

Wi fi comes @ HKD 100 for 8 hrs or HKD 130 for 24 hours. Should be one of the most expensive Wi fi experiences in the world. Most luxury hotels around the world provide free wifi. This is a serious drawback.

Overall, I will probably think again to comeback to this hotel, if I get better services in other places, as mentioned above.

Room Tip: Select 14th or 15th floor

Dear Guest
Thank you for your review and we apppreciate your feedback.
In respect to the good, we are happy to see you felt our rooms were spacious and clean. May I kindly point out our hotel actually has three floors with smoking rooms and we should have pointed this out to you.
As for the bad, I know our buffet is great value for money when comparing it to the other surrounding hotels in the area. We do not compete with stand alone restaurants and your comments on their pricing is correct. We do offer our in house guests excellent discount offers and we hope you take advantage of these on your next visit.
As for the ugly, we do not expect our bell boys to get tips to handle luggage and their reputation on service is of the highest standard we are sad to note this was not the case this time and I assure you we will be looking into it quite seriously.
A number of the games were shown on "Free to Air" TV in the rooms and we did not as a hotel opt to have the pay channels, especially as many restaurants where showing them already. As for your next booking with us, may I recommend you book via "Regal Web" with offers discounts and privileges like Free Wifi.
Again thank you for staying with us and for your time to review our hotel.
With best regards
