“Short city break...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2011

We stayed at the Harbour Grand Kowloon for 3 nights in Oct 2011. We were upgraded to a Superior Harbour View Suite on arrival in part because our room wasn't ready but also because there was a lot of renovation going on in the hotel. Service at checkin was a nightmare... Really busy, lack of info on when our room would be ready, mixed messages etc.

The room itself was fine. Definitely getting dated... Lots of limescale on bathroom taps, carpets looking tired but overall really comfortable with fantastic views. Swimming pool is also getting dated and worn out. Could do with a refurb but again amazing views.

Location is great. Nice quiet part of Kow Loon and easy to get to everything.

Gorgeous hotel with great service! Got upgraded from a harbourview king to a harbourview suite with windows all around. View was spectacular! Would strongly recommend limo pick up from/to airport. Convenient and well worth the money;-)

We stayed on the club floor, which included breakfast and evening drinks and light fare. Our room looked over Victoria Bay and onto Hong Kong Island. I would choose this again. The service was excellent with your own checkin and concierge. We used the shuttle to Nathan road and it was always ontime. The area around the hotel was great for shopping and authentic food. Loved our stay

We were impressed by the grandeur of the Kowloon Grand.... well located too and good value. However we were disappointed that in an international 5 star Hotel you can't get food after 11. One evening we went to the buffet at 9.30 to be informed that it finished at 10..... 5 minutes later the chefs were taking away the names of the dishes and starting to clear away and they brought us the bill. When we remonsrated they did apologise and gave us a discount, but this shouldn't happen in a restaurant of this calibre. Breakfast was uninspiring, although plentiful. One morning we treated ourselves to breakfast at the Intercontinental which was the culinary highlight of our trip to Hong Kong... we have never had a breakfast like it. Everyone should experience this! Harbour Grand take note.
On the plus side we had a great room facing the harbour and a stunning view. The pool is located on the roof and again has an awesome vista of the harbour and island. There was however virtually no service up there. Wet towels lay uncleared and if we would have fancied a drink there was nobody in sight to oblige. The chairs looked tired and again needed modernisation.

Room Tip: Def get a harbour view... worth the extra. Don'r bother with the club facilities. We paid for on...

We stayed here for a night after holding our Chinese wedding banquet here. Part of the package was a 'free' night except we paid a supplement as it was outside certain dates. They did however upgrade us to a suite overlooking the harbour, which was very nice of them.

The suite is big. There's a small kitchen and dining table as you walk in, which leads into the living area that contains a sofa and TV (no DVD). Then you walk into the bedroom, which has a small hall where the wardrobes are that leads to the bathroom. Kitchen is fully equipped and functioning as we used it to prepare a late supper for ourselves.

The bedroom has a very large double bed, dressing table and TV also but no DVD player.

Bathroom has separate bath tub and shower, the usual amenities (although nothing special) and fluffy bathrobes.

We tried their pool as well, which is an outdoor one. It's very cool in that the it's glazed on one side, giving it the fish tank feel. It's also very cool temperature wise, which encourages you to swim fast! They had a steam room & sauna which we tried out as well.

Breakfast wasn't included though in our tariff. Nor was wifi.

Overall it is a very nice hotel with nice restaurants, although not amazing. The room is a little dated. It's a bit further away from the tourist area of Kowloon so it makes it a bit quieter although it's fairly busy hotel nonetheless.

must get harbour view rooms, waterfront bar staff and service above average, heaps of places to eat within 4/5 blocks easy to get to and great value. Will stay again at this hotel when we next visit. Highly Recommended!

Room Tip: Pay the little extra to have a Harbour view room

I stayed four nights at the hotel, and I liked, the room was good, just a little old, but it was ok.
The breakfast is very goood, and the bay views are amazing, the service is also very good.
We just didn't like that they charged the wi-fi by computer not per room, I have stayed at many hotels and had never seen something like this, and they also charge U$ 4,00 every time you pick the phone, even if don't complete the call, so be carefull to avoid surprises.
