“View from the bedroom - just like being on a cruise ship.”

We had read up on reviews and noted this place got a very positive review but with some criticism of the location which we understood, but didn't agree with. It's certainly at the opposite end of Kowloon to most of the hotels/entertainment, but it's no more than a 5 minute stroll to the ferry - yes the sub way is further away but for us the quality of the hotel outweighed and downside. It's superbly appointed, great views, great restaurants and just a great place for a stop over. We arrived at 7am in the morning and were very fortunate that we were allowed to check in - we had to settle for a queen room with two beds, rather than the king size we had booked, but after a long journey from NZ we really appreciated that we could check in and freshen ourselves up before we embarked on exploring Hong Kong, especially as we had never been there before. The rooms are quite spacious and have great views over the water and there is a choice of places to eat both in the hotel and nearby. We would certainly go back there if we stopped in Hong Kong again.

We stayed at the Harbour Plaza hotel, now renamed Harbour grand Kowloon in September. The hotel is breathtaking and in a great position right beside the harbour. It is a bit of a walk out of the main area of Hong Kong but we prefered that. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to the main area and it is only a couple of minutes to walk to the ferry terminal to catch the Star ferry to Hong Kong island. We had breakfast in the hotel on the first morning and there is a really good buffet but it is not cheap, works out to about £16 per head so we ate in other places the rest of the stay.
We had a harbour view room and it is definately worth paying the extra for, rooms higher up are more expensive and they are exactly the same as the lower rooms, you pay extra for the position of the room. The beds are enormous and the bathrooms are amazing. The hotel does have weddings on most days so the foyer/reception area is decorated with flowers, fairy lights, rose petals etc, very pretty .
The infinity roof top pool is absolutely amazing and the staff are very attentive , there is a pool bar and a jacuzzi. As you can imagine the views are pretty spectacular.
We travelled to Hong Kong in mid September and I wish we had left it a couple of weeks later. The prices do tend to go up after 30 September but I found the heat too much when we went although the locals though it was cold !! Obviously never been to England.
Fabulous hotel, fabulous city.

I have stayed at almost all of the 5 star hotels in HK and this is by far the best. The service is fantastic, genuinely friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is excellent, because it is an easy trip to all of the popular destinations in HK, you can enjoy good views, and some quiet time away from the bustling city. Also, they have great food!! Waterfront bar and restaurant was lovely for romantic dinners and drinks.

Not to mention the roof pool - beautiful.

Stayed in the Harbour View club room which was extremely luxurious with an amazing view over Hong Kong harbour. The Club lounge was worth the extra money and the staff namely Polly couldn't do enough for you. The roof top pool is amazing with glass sides so you can see the wonderful views of the harbour. Just a pity it was too cold and cloudy when we were there and so we didn't use the pool (although it was heated).
Yes, the hotel is out of the town, but there is a free shuttle bus and in time to come there is supposed to be a walkway along the harbour front. We walked into the city which didn't take us too long, but it is easier to get the bus.
I would definitely stay here again as i think the hotel is so lovely that it makes up for the out of way location. I think too that the area around it will be developed further in the future.

we stayed at this hotel on the first stop on our honeymoon and had a large room with a spectacular harbour view. The windows are very large adn you can see hong kong on the other side of the bay. The hotel is very close to a ferry point across the water but it is a trek from the nearest underground station on foot (with a taxi it would be fine) and feels a little out of the way for visiting HongKong Island. Otherwise we had a very pleasent stay but didnt eat in the hotel as it was quite expensive.

This was our third stay at this property, and it did not disappoint.

Our Superior Harbourview Suite - booked through Perfect Escapes - was a steal at the price we booked. The rooms and entire property are well maintained and immaculate. The view is SPECTACULAR and there is not another hotel in Hong Kong that offers a room of this size and quality, with an unobstructed harbour view, for this price. Rooms are well-appointed, but not posh. Bathrooms are on the smallish side - but there are two of them so - who cares?

Service is fast, efficient and professional - we never had any problems with the staff during any of our stays. The executive lounge is great - the staff was wonderful and very helpful. The business center was great as well - I had to print and fax some documents, as well as use the internet - and had no problems with waits or with using any of the equipment. Staff here was very helpful as well. Concierge service was fantastic - they juggled several dinner reservations for us and handled our transportation arrangements perfectly.

The restaurants are good - breakfast buffet is expansive - but you should really go out on the town and try some of the incredible cuisine on offer. The rooftop pool is small but has a breathtaking view - it has never been busy any of the times we stayed. The fitness center is adequate - but the harbour view certainly makes up for some of the deficiencies. It could use a complete overhaul, however, with updated equipment and new flooring.

Regarding the location - it is a short taxi ride, shuttle bus or ferry ride away from all the hotspots. Even at rush hour, going to Central by cab, we never spent more than 30 minutes travelling. (Taxis are in plentiful supply everywhere and fit 4 passengers with lots of shopping bags quite comfortably.) We love the quiet residential neighbourhood and strolling out to the coffee shops and bakery just down the road, as well as on the harbour promenade. And - in response to the some of the other reviews - I don't think it is any more westernized in this area than the rest of Hong Kong.

This is our reasonably priced Hong Kong home away from home. Would recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

We had two nights at the Grand and it was fantastic, our room overlooked the harbour and Hong Kong Island, although it was misty the first morning, by mid morning this had cleared and the view was fantastic. The staff couldnt have been more helpful, everything was very clean, the food was very good. I would certainly stay here again, if I ever went to Hong Kong again.
