“BEST VIEW IN HONG KONG WITH SERVICE TO MATCH”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014

I have stayed at many of the 5 star Hong Kong hotels over the years but this hotel has the best view of any. The advantage this hotel has over the 4 Seasons etc is that many hotels of this quality are on Hong Kong Island whilst the Intercontinental is on Kowloon - consequently you get a great view of the harbour and the Island. Arrived early but reception got us into an suite (upgrade) within 90 minutes. Room was large and well appointed with small lounge area and desk plus king size bed. Bathroom was large with walk-in shower (with steam sauna) and jacuzzi bath. Best of all the room was on an (angled) corner so we had two large windows that gave us stunning views both up and down the harbour and of Hong Kong Island.

Had drinks in the Lobby Lounge and watched the Laser Light show that evening. Excellent service but wine prices are high. Dined later in the 1 Michelin star Steak House Wine Bar Grill - would have preferred to go local but it was Easter and many restaurants were fully booked. Food was very good - not just steaks as one of our party was a non meat eater. Breakfast was a buffet in the Harbourside Restaurant - excellent range and quality of food. Service was exceptional.

Overall a great 5 star hotel with facilities and service to match.

The hotel has unbeatable close up views of Victoria Harbour and the evening light show, an excellent location. It is worth the extra for a harbour view room.Oddly higher isn't best, the lower floors have good views of the walkway too, which higher floors lack.
The rooms are beginning to look a bit tired, they are on the small side but very comfortable. The hotel is extremely busy, and unfortunately currently there is noisy building work in progress.
We ate one night at Nobu and had a fantastic meal, breakfast was very good too.
A good hotel with a good convenient position in Hong Kong.

I am about to review three Intercontinental properties: two in Hong Kong and one in Beijing. The two cities are obviously very different from each other; what surprised me was that the difference in the hotels was even greater than the difference between the two cities. More on that later...

This Intercontinental is magnificent in every way: location, service, executive lounge, fitness center -- the whole package! The only note of caution I would sound is to avoid this hotel around New Year's Eve. It sits in the heart of the prime viewing area for Hong Kong's famous display of fireworks, so many of the streets nearby (and even the underground crossings of those streets) are closed off and patrolled by very strict police forces. So it is very difficult to leave the hotel on foot (and impossible by car) for may hours before and after midnight on 12/31. And the level of noise generated by the revelry inside the hotel itself was almost unbearable.

Hong Kong was the last stop on our 3 week stay in China. First two hotels were St Regis in Beijing & Waldorf Astoria in Shanghai so we had been pretty well pampered in relatively small luxurious hotels for 2 weeks before arriving in Hong Kong. There is probably not a better view of Victoria Harbor and Hong Kong Island than the one from the Intercontinental Hotel. However you don't have to stay there to enjoy the view. Come for Tea or a drink or lunch or visit one of their excellent restaurants to take in the magnificent views but stay across the street that The Peninsular for truly 5 star service an accommodations. The room we were assigned to was on the 17th, top floor. The moment we walked into the room we noticed a musty odor. The desk clerk said he would check to see if we could change the room.30 minutes later, no answer. I went to the desk and asked for a manager. I was introduced to Benjamin who immediately apologized and went to work finding us a beer situation. We eventually ended up in a room on the 15th floor with a beautiful view of the harbor & Hong Kong and Benjamin sent up a bottle of wine for our trouble. Perhaps if we hadn't just come from 2 other amazing properties, or if our friends weren't staying across the street at the Peninsular where we had the opportunity to experience truly stellar service and 5 star accommodations I could give the Intercontinental higher marks but there were simply too many disappointments. Other than the unparalleled views that you can get from visiting here or dining in another restaurant nearby on a high floor, I felt like I was staying in a very big and busy Hilton...not a 5 star luxurious property. Ben did his best however and should be acknowledged for trying.

Had a great time in Hong Kong and the IC HK had a big part to play in this. The Staff is great and very helpful but in certain times of the day it feels like their is not enough around. May it be as it is the staff is very helpful and try there out most best seems like a great team.
Special mention to the concierge Team who did there best to help me find a place with a more than sketchy address.

We booked into the concierge level and were not disappointed! Tho we arrived late we were welcomed with champagne! The full breakfast was amazing, tea in the afternoon, and evening drinks & a wide selection of hor'dourves. Rooms with harbor views, stunning...we booked a Jr Suite Harbor view. Excellent location for walking everywhere, service was over the top! Must stay!

Room Tip: Jr Suite #616 quiet, excellent view

We had stunning harbour view rooms, and could spend all day staring out the window. The concierge and our check in and check out service was great. No free wifi. The service at the Lobby Bar was poor. The location is great. The restaurants are very expensive
