This hotel is in a great location, near many restaurants, and Temple Street shopping. It's not a five star hotel, but just fine for our tour group. The buffet breakfast was fabulous with a variety of food. We looked forward to it every morning. Mattress on the bed was hard, and room was small, but overall it met all our needs. We would stay there again.

I travel a lot around the world for business and see a lot of hotel rooms. This time the visit to Hongkong for just for pleasure. And what a pleasure it was staying at the Eaton.

We booked a club room (well worth the extra money) and got a nice big room. The breakfast was plentiful and the cocktails in the evening generous.
Extremely friendly and service-minded people working through out the hotel. The location is a 10 minutes walk from the water but lots of fun places around the corner.

Room Tip: try to get a room as high up as possible.

We just got back from HongKong yesterday. I've been to HK 3 times, and used to stayed at the Shangri La. However, this time I travelled in a group of 6 girls and decided to stay at the Eaton. We changed the password on the safe in our room and kept our passports and wallets in the safe. However our money in all of the 3 wallets in our safe was stolen, and they only took some from our wallets, depending on how much we have. I had a feeling that my money seems thinner on one night, but didn't questioned any further. However we started adding up everything on our last night, and together 3 of us lost $1550.00 AUD from our wallets.
We didn't report to the hotel as we had no proof. (We should have now that we're back in Australia). However we were too frighten & uncomfortable we didn't think clear.
Definitely don't recommend this hotel at all.

Dear Guest,

It is not true that you did not report this as we received a post-stay survey where you made the same allegations as below. We have a detailed security policy and procedures to protect the safety of guests belongings, particularly those that are kept in in-room safes. Only our security manager has access to the device needed to access the in-room safe, but he would need a key to the room, which he is not permitted to hold, so would have to collaborate with someone else to help him gain access to the room.

More importantly however if someone accessed the safe without you knowing when you were not there, there are only 2 ways to do this – firstly they would have to use your pin code or secondly they would have to use the security device. If they use the security device, they could only close the safe afterwards by using a new pin. Since you have not reported the pin being changed and you yourselves did not have to request access through our security, it is fair to assume that only someone who knew your pin accessed the in-room safe while you were there.

We have written to you separately and suggested you contact the police. I am very sorry that you have suffered a loss but would ask you to consider seriously the way in which our security systems work when you consider how this loss may have arisen.

Sincerely yours,

Shane Pateman
General Manager

Great moderate hotel. Good breakfast, great bed, nice rooftop pool, close access to MTR and to night markets. A fine place to stay. the 7-11 across the street is handy and a laundry 2 blocks away. Very happy with rates and look forward to staying there again next time.

I was pleased to find a hotel that could house my family of 5 in a single space, and was more pleased when we arrived at the hotel and found it was really lovely. The kids slept in what was ostensibly the living room (very small for a living room, but fine for the kids), while we parents had quite a large space as our bedroom - which was very comfortable. The room facilities were all excellent, we had no problem with noise, and the staff were superb. We had a room service dinner that was delicious, and breakfast in-house the next day - the buffet looked very good, but we ordered from the menu. The food was good, but I'd recommend just having the buffet. All in all this was a great way to start our trip in Asia!

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the past 10 years, solo and with family. I have stayed at other hotels on occasion but have always come back to The Eaton. Hong Kong is expensive, there are no real bargain hotels despite the so called "special deals" "advance booking discounts" etc. When you have finished messing around for hours you will find that in the end the wheel turns and somehow works it way back to more or slightly less than the original starting price. They probably use a team of actuaries to work it out to their advantage. Simply put, in HK you end up getting what you pay for. Pay more, get more, no real bargains.

Having said all that, The Eaton is special in many ways. For business or tourists it is an excellent choice. I agree with another reviewer who commented that the food is expensive in the hotel. I have found that the quality of the food has deteriorated in the past few years while the prices have gone up. I usually use the restaurant facilities in the hotel simply for convenience. My trips here are for business. The standard rooms are small but comfortable. On my next trip I will try out Mark Fair's advice and get an E-club room. Have never tried that. Will write a follow up review in due course. There is a roof top chill out area with good views, a heated pool and gym as well as massage chairs. These are available to all guests as far as I know. There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel which works well.

Room Tip: Get a room with a walk in shower, many rooms have showers in the bath. Avoid adjoining rooms unless...

Stayed 6 nights in a deluxe double bed room.

Location of hotel is excellent - conveniently located along the main nathan road, between Yau Ma Tei & Jordon MTR stations. Mongkok and Tsim Sha Tsui are also within walking distance and there are many places to shop along the way there. Can also take bus back to hotel from anywhere along Nathan Road. Plenty of choices for food around the neighbouring areas as well.

Room renovated with a modern touch but is lacking in quality. Room cleanliness is ok but smells musty. Noise isolation is terrible for our non-connecting room and is extremely disturbing to our sleep. Noise along the corridor and TV from the other room can be heard inside our room as if our doors were literally not there. We complained about the noise on our 2nd night and was shifted to another room but there was no difference. Having a holiday and not being able to sleep well is a nightmare.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your comments.

We are pleased to know that you liked the location and cleanliness of our hotel.
However, we are very sorry that we failed to make your stay comfortable and provide you with a good nights sleep. We have revisited the noise limiters on our televisions and are ensuring that security patrol regularly to ensure that we are providing a quiet environment in our guest rooms and corridors.
Once again, we are sorry to have let you down and we thank you for writing with your comments.

Sincerely yours,

Shane Pateman
