Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

Smack in the heart of the HKCEC, Grand Hyatt is an excellent hotel for business travellers attending conferences or trade shows at the HKCEC. Its just 5 minutes walk (with shelter all the way) to the HKCEC. It is also well connected with the MTR rails system and conveniently located close to the ferry terminal to get across to mainland Hong Kong to places like Kowloon.

Rooms are of high standard of cleanliness with a well thought out design. The bathrooms are spacious for HK standards and gym facilities are tip top! The pool area is a great way to unwind first thing in the morning or after a long meeting day. One other highlight for me is the Hyatt International buffet breakfast which comes with a good variety of fruits nicely cut on top of the perfect pastries and other hot food!

Overall, a fantastic option especially for business travellers.

My husband and I stay here nearly every year in December, it is a little pricey but we love the place so we haven't shopped around to find a cheaper hotel.
It is very well located, close to the star ferries, only 5 minutes away from Central, which is great for shopping and the restaurants in Soho are a must.

Room Tip: Worth the extra cost to get a harbour view

The service in the Grand Club was wonderful. The variety of breakfast foods was good, and the evening snacks were tasty. The Club lounge on the 31st floor has a great view of Victoria Harbour, and contributes to a pleasant morning and evening experience. Watching the fireworks on the harbour on New Year's Eve was a treat.

The cake the pastry chef made for my birthday was killer, visually and culinarily! It was quickly devoured by our fellow guests.

Unfortunately my husband and I both incurred food poisoning from another establishment upon our arrival, but the GH staff came to our rescue helped us to find doctors to come to the hotel and checked in on us. We weren't nickeled-and-dimed for the bottled water and Pedialyte requested by the doctors, either. Our room was cleaned quickly and quietly.

Next time we come to HK, we will definitely stay here again.

Simply a great place to stay for a business trip or pleasure. Quiet rooms, spacious, nicely laid out, with place to work, eat or just relax. Excellent well furnished room and large modern bathroom. Everything worked just fine, room service was great, excellent breakfast... Do try their home made cereal..

Nice hotel with wonderful breakfast, i stay here for 3 nights, and had a good impress. Great service. I love blue cherry in the morning and amazing swimming pool. I can see the sea from window in my room. And the location is great, just nearby the exhibition, so only took 1 minute, very good. I enjoy it!

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for 4 nights in December'12. Being one of only 2 hotels connected to the HKCEC where a conference I was attending was being held, it was the ideal place to stay (it is directly connected to the lobby of the HKCEC via the Mezzanine floor in case anyone is wondering).

If you have booked a transfer via the hotel limo service, upon exiting the arrival hall at the airport, head to counter B18 which is the Hyatt counter. The staff will help push your luggage one floor down to the pick-up point. Transfer is priced at HK900 per way. I was lucky that my driver was jovial and had a good grasp of English so I didn't have to endure a deafeningly silent 45 minute drive.

Check-in was a breeze as I was booked into the club king room. Some club rooms are located past a certain floor so you need to take the lift to the 20th floor then walk past the club centre and transfer to another lift to take you up. The room key is literally a key and not a card. The club centre itself houses its own in-house dining area with breakfast, lunch, free cocktails as well as meeting rooms.Club floor staff remember you by face and name and are always courteous and thoughtful.

The club king room was not exactly huge but nicely sized. Another colleague who stayed in the standard deluxe room said it was about the same size. I was a bit unhappy that I got the one facing the pool and not the harbor but nothing much to be done about it as it is at the hotel's discretion to upgrade. Cleanliness was top-notch and the toilet which I find is the making or breaking point, was fabulous! Standard shower, bathtub and very posh with black marble.

The configuration of the room is a little odd in that upon entering, you have your toilet immediately to your left and your built-into-wall closet on your right, then you walk through a little corridor before you get to your bed. Nothing weird there but I just found it interesting and worth a mention as some people might not take to that especially since you wouldn't be able to see anything past the bend in the corridor.

Nothing not to like - bed was comfortable, wifi works, walls aren't thin, TV swivels so you can watch from any point in the room, room service was as expected, everything worked, enough room to unpack and open up luggage, bell desk and concierge staff are professional, prompt and remember your name. Daily breakfast at both the restaurant on the ground floor and the club restaurant was good but one would enjoy much greater variety at the main restaurant downstairs if they can forfeit the quiet ambience and great view of Kowloon from the club restaurant.

I also utilized the club meeting room on 2 occasions and the staff allowed us to club the complimentary 1-hour per club guest so we ended up not having to pay for a 5-hour usage block which would have normally cost HKD3,200/USD415.

I can't say if it is centrally located to any entertainment but we were in Wan Chai so I mostly just cabbed or took the MTR (station is a 5 minute walk and connected to the HKCEC) to Causeway Bay/Central instead which is a quick 10-minute drive without traffic.

All in all, everything you need in a business hotel if you are looking to stay nearby the HKCEC.

My only gripe was the extremely high peak rate - I paid HKD5,500 per night/USD710 + 10% tax for a POOL view which seemed to drop towards the actual date of booking (helped another colleague book the same room about a week prior to check in and it was HKD5,000 per night/USD645 for a HARBOR view).

The room is big, the bed is very comfortable and what i like the most is he bathroom which is beautiful as ant other hyatt hotel always be.
It's quiet around the room so i can get a nice good sleep.
To travel around we could take taxi from the hotel or you can take taxi to admiralty station which is near from the hotel its around HKD 20 and then continue the travel using MTR.
