My first travel outside the country was HK. Been so blessed to stay this very beautiful hotel. I'm like a princess served by my prince. Very nice, clean and extravagant. With very polite staff. The rooms were very clean. I had a very goodnight sleep. Our room was over looking the harbor, so it was very pleasant to see the lights and everything about HK. The staff were so accommodating.

This beautiful hotel has the high quality service and amenities one would expect from a Grand Hyatt in Asia. Located right by the water, this place has gorgeous harbour views. It's a great way to experience the beauty of Hong Kong. The food here is excellent. I stayed a week and was never disappointed or bored by their delicious offerings. The beautiful bathrooms are particularly memorable -- with stunning gold-plated fixtures throughout.

The hotel is undergoing room refurbishment which is badly needed. My room although comfortable had a lot of marble and gold taps in the bathroom. Quite dated.

Service is good and the staff are very attentive wth excellent English. The spa was a highlight and the massage I had was excellent.

Breakfast was good but I would like to see it more like the W Kowloon breakfast which is hard to beat.

The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong is located in Wan Chai, near the water, adjacent (connected) to the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center (HKCEC). It is a very nice business hotel, and has solid high quality service. It is also just around the corner from the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong (read my other review for that property: “A room with a view – Tips about the Airport Express” for comparisons to this hotel.

Getting there -- there are a number of ways to get to or from the hotel to the Airport.
1) Book a limo from the hotel itself -- HK$ 900 one way (~USD $115)
2) Take a taxi to or from the Airport - about $HK 375 (~USD $50)
3) Take the Airport Express Train (recommended) -- about $HK 100 (~USD $13)

The Airport Express is a train that leaves the Hong Kong airport every 10 minutes, and makes two quick stops (Tsing Yi and Kowloon) before coming to the Hong Kong side (which is where the Hotel is located). It takes about 24 minutes for the journey, and avoids any traffic issues. For many hotels, there is a free bus service at the Hong Kong Airport Express Station which allows you to get to the hotel for free. Unfortunately, the bus service does not exist to the Grand Hyatt, even though it does exist to the Renaissance Harbour View hotel which is just around the corner. I do not have a good answer as to why, other than it is highly likely that most clients of the Grand Hyatt are not going to take the Airport Express (public transportation).

There are taxis at the station Airport Express station and you can take a taxi directly to the hotel (~HK$45-50) one way and about 10 minutes. Total travel time to or from the Airport to the Grand Hyatt comes out to be about 45 minutes to an hour. If you are heading back to the Airport, just reverse these directions.

The cost of Airport Express is HK$100 for a one way ticket, but if you are traveling with a friend, or a group, there are group discounts available which are not well advertised. For two people, the cost drops to HK$ 80 and sinks further the larger the number of travelers. However, you cannot buy these at the machines -- you need to ask at the "live" counter with a real person. Just ask for a multiple person discount ticket.

The Star Ferry is located about 5-7 minutes by walk away from the Grand Hyatt and will take you to the Kowloon side for a bargain basement rate of HK $2.50 one way. The Wan Chai MTR (subway) station is only a 5 minute walk from the Grand Hyatt.

The Executive Lounge is located on both floors 30 and 31 and has a solid selection of food and beverages as well as a staff that can answer many if not all of your questions as a de facto concierge. The entire hotel, service levels, rooms, and fundamental quality are higher than that at the Renaissance Harbour View. My room was larger and more well appointed than the room I had at the Renaissance Harbour View, but as the title suggests, this comes at a price. At equal rates (or even a slight premium), take the Grand Hyatt over the Renaissance Harbour View, but of course, the trick is getting the same rate!

All good - smooth check in, pleasant rooms, free wifi with corporate rate - worked well first time, great outside bar on the 11th floor, awesome pool, well equipped gym, and a top notch breakfast. Service with a smile throughout.

Note there are some renovations going on which cause some noise between 10am and 5pm, so if this is likely to bother you make sure you check with reception and ask for a room away from the renovations.

This is our fourth stay in this Regency Club, the first more than 15 years ago, and it is still the most spectacular Club in the Hyatt System. Fabulous food and service makes it definitely worth the price. I would always stay here
