“Loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2008

This place was great. At first I had been a little apprehensive about staying here as I thought it was too far from Hong Kong Island and reports of the area put me off. However I experienced no problems at all, HK Island is 10 mins away on the MTR and the hotel is adjacent to the station. Also no evidence of red light district etc. Mong Kok is a great area full of markets and the hotel is part of a complex which includes restaurants and a cinema. Staff were great, room was immaculate with a great view from my room on the 32nd floor!!
The hotel offers its guests a free tour of the area to get themselves acquainted with the city with hints at where to go, what to eat etc.
If you're going to Hong Kong this hotel is worth considering!

I think this hotel will probably be the standard we use for all hotels we stay at in the future. It was our 40th Wedding anniversary and so I had decided on a cruise, with 5 days at the Langham Place to start with.

We booked their limousine service from the airport, and we were met by a hotel representative who gave us maps and bottled water while we waited a couple of minutes for the Limo to arrive. Baggage loaded, we were driven directly to the ground floor entrance where we were met by a group of bell-hops to take care of our luggage, whilst an assistant then took us up to the 36th floor to Club L, got us a glass of champagne each and sorted out our room cards. As all drinks and food are free in Club L. we stayed a couple of hours talking with other guests before retiring at 1 a.m. to our suite on the 37th floor, which I have to say was much larger than I had imagined possible in Hong Kong. Waiting for us was a free bottle of chmpagne on ice, a presentation platter of cocolate coated strawberries, and a plate of chocolate leaves on sugar. It was the first time we have had a suite with two restrooms (toilets for Brits). There was a lounge area with a 42" gas plasma and the usual hotel entertainment channels, a bar area with fridge and coffee/tea making facilities, a single toilet, then a seperate bedroom with a kingsize bed and even a menu for pillows. Attached to the bedroom is a glass bathroom (with motorised blinds for privacy) and more than adequate wardrobes. Again there was a 37" plasma on the wall. By the side of the bed was a clock/radio with an I-Pod docking station and a remote for the I-pod. The telphone system in the room allows you to take a small handset with you around the hotel.

Although a continental breakfast was available in Club L, we opted for the breakfast in The Place, which had a fantastic selection, similar to that on a cruise ship - something for most nationalities including bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, mushrooms and hash browns with toast.

They say the devil is in the detail, and on the day of our 40th, we dined in the Ming Court. The staff are so attentive that they must have noticed my wife is left-handed, and moved her chopsticks and glass over to her left hand. Only a small thing, but very impressed that they noticed.

We used the pool on the roof (accesible through the Spa) which was really nice, however they could do with waiter service on sunny days, although towels and comfortable sunbeds were available.

The concierge was excellent, we asked him to recommend a good steak restaraunt. and he sent us to Mortens of Chicago in the Sheraton Hotel next to The Peninsula on the waterfront. Again fantastic service and great ambience. The bill was astronomic - $HK2700 for wine and two main courses ($US370, £180) but the taxi back was incredibly cheap ($US3.00, £1.50) for a 15 minute journey.

Travelling around is very cheap - get an Octopus card for $HK150 which includes $HK50 deposit, use it all week, and then take it back and they refund the unused part and the deposit.
The Langham Place is in a great area for walking around - Mong Kok feels and looks properly Chinese unlike Hong Kong island which felt like the financial district of a capital city, not much local atmosphere. We also felt very safe.

Shopping was really no cheaper than the UK, but if you need tailored clothing, visit Eddie Siu on Hanoi Road, T.S.T Kowloon. Proper Chinese tailor and everything I bought is perfect. I bought a made-to-measure jacket from an Asian tailor which although very cheap ($150, £75) is nowhere near the same quality.

Checkout at the Langham Place was a breeze as they sort everytthing out in Club L.

We stayed another day on our return from the cruise in a normal room which although smaller was still a reasonable size and well appointed.

I would recommend this hotel without reserve. From umbrellas to bathrobes, they think of everything .

We stayed 3 nights in a club room. Every thing about the hotel was great. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The club lounge was 1st class and it's well worthwhile paying extra for a club room.

The location of the hotel is very good. You really get a feel for the real Hong Kong being in Mong Kok. Access to the subway is very easy and we had no trouble getting to all other parts of Hong Kong.

Compared to other 5 star hotels in Hong Kong, the Langham Place was wonderful value for money. Deserves its number one spot.

Wow! The Langham Place was fantastic. The service was impeccable, the room although small was very nicely decorated and all our needs catered for - we even had a coffee peculator in our room with fresh ground coffee! The swimming pool was stunning, towering over the buildings and looking out to the harbour (if you could see that far due to the smog).
Our daughter became unwell during our stay and the staff couldn't do enough for us.
The buffet breakfast was very nice with a good selection to keep most people happy.
The location was a little bit out of the way but we were very close to the markets. The Langham Place is a great place to stay if you don't mind walking.

We stayed in the Langham Place for three nights on the 9th of March, as the start of our holiday, as we were moving on to a cruise.
As the hotel is not in the heart of Hong Kong, and we were a little worried that we may have some problems in getting around. This was not to be, as there were many ways of getting around. The train station was close by, which took ten minutes to get to Hong Kong. We even took the bus for two Hong Kong dollars and got the starr ferry across the harbour to Hong Kong.
The hotel is connected to a mall, which has a good selection of shops and a good food hall, if you want to eat quite cheap.
There is a market very close by called the ladies market, which is good for the odd bargin, ( and is not just for the ladies ).
The hotel offers excellent value, and the staff were always very helpful all the time.
We stayed in the L club section, which you can use the service of the club lounge, which always has snacks and drinks available.
The room was very comfortable and had a spectacular view of Mongkok. I would recommend the up grade to the L club, as the rooms are far bigger and you get to the use of the club benefits.
We hope to one day to go back to Hong Kong, and when we do, we will be staying at the Langham Place Hotel.

Well I have stayed at this hotel a few times, and this is the second review I am writing. This review includes some pictures.

Having been to Hong Kong quite a lot, this is the only hotel I have chosen to stay at more than once. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home.

On this stay I stayed in a Langham suite, suite 3820 and my colleague had suite 3836. Both rooms were perfect and the quality and variety of the snacks and meals provided by the Club L definately improve each time I go back.

This stay we did however have a small problem on the last day whilst packing before checking out the power was cut, this was planned by the hotel maintenence dept, and affected all rooms with a number XX20 or greater.

I complained to the manager, who unfortunately for the hotel was not only nameless, but arrogant, and insisted that I just read the letter sent the night before (neither of our two suites received such a letter). Furthermore the humidty soon became unbearable without the aircon functioning and packing bags no longer seemed any fun (not that it ever is). I decided to go to Club L to complain they were so nice, capable and more importantly willing to calm me down, and insisted we keep our suites until departure time at 20h00, this was a treat being able to have a quick shower before heading to the airport for a 13hr flight home.

Despite the problem, we still enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Hong Kong.
