“Good location and nice room”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

We chose Langham Place as they had "Family Rooms' which cater to young families, hard to find in Hong Kong! We took the limo transfer which due to some of family and luggage was a nice MPV which worked well. Definitely great to step off long flight and have someone meet you straight through departures and into a waiting car pretty much immediately.

Check in was easy and we were rushed through as the team could see we had tired children on our hands! We were due a "kids pack" at check in for selecting a Family Room but this was nothing to write home about, a small toy. Was an opportunity to wow I guess. We upgraded to Club L which was definitely worth the money for us. Access to lounge which had great food, wine/other drinks, kids room opposite main lounge (which was a blessing when we checked out a bit early and had to wait for the transfer back to the airport). Had M & M's, gummy bears, crisps/chips and fruit and big tv for putting on cartoons for the little ones as well which was great! Also meant free buffet breakfast in either the lounge or the main restaurant which was also really good. Handy to do check out here as well when we left.

Room was good size, in fact 2 adjoining rooms - 1 with king size bed and other with 2 singles for the kids. Up on 36th floor so great view and nice and quiet. This is the same floor as the Club L lounge. The kids room also had a toilet and basin room which was useful. Both good size rooms for HK and enough for the kids to run around a bit without feeling too claustrophobic. Bathroom in main room nice (liked the blind that could be raised so you could have a bath looking at the lights of HK - amazing!) and both had lovely views of HK and Victoria Harbour. Beds all comfortable. Only complaint was rooms were a little bit worn, but nothing that caused issues. Just little things like =wardrobe door not on rollers properly and one curtain not on rails properly. Didn't impact on comfort of stay though, just a bit tired.

Service everywhere throughout hotel good, especially in the lounge and also the restaurants. Pool is ok, not huge but big enough and hot pool beside it is lovely to relax in. More of an adults pool than for kids so we went everyday but not for a long time (didn't want to disrupt those doing lengths with active children!). Also had a spa treatment which was nice, not the best I've ever had, but lovely atmosphere and setting and not too badly priced compared to other hotel resorts.

Location great, right beside markets and great shopping. Lots to looks at and be invalid with especially for the kids. More interesting than being on HK island in my opinion!

In summary, would stay here again and really liked the size and configuration of the rooms with little children. Definitely upgrade to Club L as worth the $. The hotel though is not really aimed at families with small children, more form the other guests than the hotel staff themselves. We often got "looked at" for having little boys who certainly weren't quiet children, although not really bad either on that note! Will be better when they are a couple of years older and able to be a bit less active!

Langham place is situated in Mongkok, the busiest and crowded part of Hongkong. But it is here where you can experience the old world feel of Hongkong with its the busy pedestrian only streets with eateries, street hawkers and road side show men. So as you get into all the hotel from the street you appreciate the quiet luxury the place offers. Rooms are good sized and have everything you need. Get a room on the higher floors where you can have a dizzying view of Hong Kong with its floor to glass window. The hotel has a wonderful spa run by Chuan spa chain. For the shopper there's a mall next door accessible by a sky bridge which also contains one of the worlds largest escalator that takes you directly to the forth floor.

Located right in Mong Kok, you don't even have to go outside to get to the Mong Kok MTR station, where you can take the Kwun Tong and Tsuen Wan lines. It's about a 10-15 walk to Olympian Station for the Tung Chung line. There's an Airport Bus nearby on Nathan Road to get to and from the airport.
The gym upstairs is great, with a beautiful view of the city. The rooftop pool is a great place to chill out and get some sun. I've been to some other rooms and they're beautiful. Unfortunately I got the handicapped room. While it is still very nice, it was very annoying having to bend down a lot to brush my teeth and wash my face because the sink was so low. I also found the elevators to be a bit slow, but overall, I was very happy with my experience.

I simply love this oasis in the middle of the busy Mongkok

I love everything in this oasis: the staff, the Place and Backyard, the bar, hotel room, shopping possibilities (especially when it is raining), the outdoor swimming pool and pool bar.

Room Tip: I have stayed in different rooms and they are all very good.

We stayed in a Club room for four nights in March 2014. The hotel is well located in Kowloon if you want to experience the atmosphere of life for Hongkongers, rather than staying at a hotel on the Bay, or on Hong Kong Island. On our arrival the bell boys and front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Our room on the 35th floor had a view of the harbour, but unfortunately our view was spoilt because one of the big windows was badly misted because of a fault in the glazing. The room was very clean, but small, and the bathroom was rather dark with a door that did not fit properly.

We agree with other reviewers that the Club lounge was excellent, which meant it was very popular and therefore a bit crowded! The staff were very helpful and very good food and drink was available all day. We had breakfast in the The Place restaurant, which was spacious and relaxing with a wide choice of good quality food.

There is a good shopping centre right next to the hotel and a metro close by, both of which we made good use of.

convenience starts with the Langham place airport counter just outside the arrival hall at HK international. The staff can verify your reservation and point you to the different options to travel to the hotel. If you opt to take a taxi (around HK$260-300) then they give you a Langham card to direct the taxi driver to the hotel. The hotel is located beside a mall of the same name. Complete with starbucks to haagendaz to a supermarket (with fresh produce) and a basement food court. Access to Mongkok station is via the basement giving you no problems rain or shine. First time travelers to HK would probably find this hotel far from the tourist sites. In reality its location on top of the Mongkok MTR station makes for a convenient access to all tourist sites. That is if you are not daunted in taking the MTR.

Room Tip: being near the center of Kowloon the views on any side of the hotel would not matter.

Really don't have anything to complain about! Breakfast was delicious- always lots of options and liked that they provided little to go bags so I could bring a croissant and a piece of fruit to the office. Connected to a mall with the worlds longest escalator- kind of cool. Rooms were great and comfortable and received the wonderful Langham warm welcome that I've become used to. Valet was fantastic- even lent me $100HKD because I didn't have enough cash to pay the driver (I paid him back promptly :-) ).
