We stayed for an extra two nights in Hong Kong at the end of our cruise and relied on advice on where to stay. Our room had partial views over the harbour and contrary to previous reports had plenty of room with a reasonable bathroom. There was a regular shuttle from the hotel to the rear of the Peninsula Hotel within walking distance of the ferry terminal. Alternatively the Hum Hong metro station was a few minutes walk away through the mall adjoining the hotel. We only took breakfast there on one day and was excellent if a little pricey. The swimming pool is on the seventh floor and has fantastic views but it is cold!
We had a dream departure from Hong Kong by catching the airport shuttle bus from the front of the Hotel, which drops you at the railway check in desks at Kowloon Railway Station. Having deposited your luggage, we were then whisked into Hong Kong airport by a very comfortable modern train, which apparently travels at 135kph on the way. Arrival procedures and security at the airport were a breeze. We literally didn't touch our luggage from handing it to the bell boy in the room to claiming it on the arrival baggage carousel at Newcastle airport.
We also found the staff really helpful and polite with plenty of advice on hand. Our luggage was looked after by the hotel staff as we arrived before check-in time.
If you are going to Hong Kong for the first time, go to the Star Ferry terminal and get tickets for the hop-on/hop-off buses. There are three routes which can be done in one day but best over two days. The blue route takes you through all the sights in Kowloon, and the red and green routes start at the ferry terminal on Hong Kong Island. One route takes you over the other side of the island and the other round the business area, a tourist site in its own right. This enables you to see the whole area and then go back to what you want to explore further. The Victoria peak tram might look attractive but the queues are horrific. Instead take the no. 15 bus from the Exchange, five minutes walk from the ferry terminal, from which you get fantastic views of the island (if it is not cloudy) and drops you at the Peak terminal.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour view room

We stayed at the Harbour Plaza for four days on route to Taiwan with our 14yr old daughter. We arranged for the hotel to collect us from the airport and they were waiting for us when we landed and whisked us to the hotel with minimum fuss.

Situated on Kowloon, it's a well appointed hotel with larger bedrooms than you normally get in Hong Kong. Ours had a bedroom and separate lounge/diner room which had a pull out bed where our daughter slept. The rooms are still small when compared to other countries but that's one of the quirks of Hong Kong where land is at a premium.

We enjoyed the buffet dinner that is available, there was a huge range of food on offer and something for every taste.

The hotel's outdoor pool is on the 9th floor and has a wonderful view. Room service took an age on every occasion that we used it.

It's quite easy to walk from the hotel along the promenade to the ferry, takes about 30 mins with the wonderful view across Victoria Harbour.

Room Tip: Although the hotel is side on to Victoria Harbour, rooms on the coliseum side have a limited view across the bay towards Central and Hong Kong Island.

Conveniently placed close to metro station, and easily reachable by walking or shuttle bus from TST (NB! Shuttle bus has its stop behind The Penninsula Hotel - not really visable in any documentation). Hotel appears to be a suitable place to locate bigger groups, which takes away the feeling of personal touch. Check-in/check-out is effective and quick. Rooms are fairly small and badly maintained (cracks in the celing!). Breakfast was never eaten due to sleep-in morning...

We stayed in this hotel few days back when we were visinting hong kong.
i was with my family and friends and we had two children aged 5 and 6 respectively.
The hotel management was so horribly intolerant towards the pranks and childish plays of our children that while we were waiting in the check-in que our children were playing amongsts themselves and were, obviously, making some noise in the reception area.
The managemnet personnel over there was so intolerant towards our children that he almost starting glaring and shouting at them and we had to forcibly control them. I presume that was against the ettiquette of the hotel to alow children play freely and to add to this there was no sufficient facility for our families to sit and relax while we were standing in the queue. The hotel provide us 2 nos of drinking water bottles when we first checked in and thereafter refused to give us any and said it was chargeable thereafter. We were on holidays in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Macau and amongst all these 3 cities, this was the worst hotel experience we had. Sorry to say i won't recommed it to any of my known people.

After traveling to Hong Kong for so many years, I have decided to name this hotel the most convenient and worth in price of the whole city. Is more a business hotel than a family resort, rooms are not very big, but staying is can be very pleasant as the swimmingpool, gym and executive floor on the top, offers you enjoynable options. It´s a very clean hotel. The rates of the rooms are usually quite acceptable.

Walking distance to the Hung Hom train station to Shenzhen and Guangzhou and also to the subway that can take you to everywhere where in Hong Kong for a very reasoble price. Also you have a free shuttle bus to the some shopping areas and other city amenities and to the Airport Express Train.
