“Classy and design”

For those who likes design hotels, the Mira is a really cool one. I've done a share of them but sometimes the design overtakes the comfort and usability. At The Mira, the design is not "too much". The room is big enough - for an HK hotel. I had a standard room with a queen size bed, comfy one. Bathroom has a bathtub and a rainy shower system with transparent view to the room. As a solo traveler I'm ok with the concept and I love it. It should be sexy too for couples. Less probably between friends ^_^. Don't worry, a single button and you can hide yourself in the bathroom. The Mira has a good technological aspect with nice LCD TV set (though the image from cable is not good and not HD), a Sony computer connected to that TV set, some Bose speakers for iPod and iPhone users and even, and that's the first time I see that in an hotel, a mobile phone that we can use it in the hotel but also in the city. Very convenient effort for those who are scared of using their own no local mobile phone. For those who might need the information, the internet bandwidth is top notch as for most high ranking hotels in HK (over 15Mb/s).
I definitively recommend that hotel though it is not cheap but actually far cheaper than the usual 5 stars chain hotels.

My wife and I have just returned from a 1 week stay at the Mira and I have to say the staff at this hotel are outstanding. They can't do enough to help you, are extremely friendly and polite, in general make what is a great hotel excellent.

Room size is about standard for Hong Kong and Asia for that matter, that is big enough for a king size bed couple of chairs and a bathroom but that's it. The rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. The multi-media unit is a nice touch, although in reality you use it to surf web and that's it, but could be used as a full PC, DVD, CD and I-pod docking station.

Similarly the mobile phone that clones the room phone is a cute touch but again you are unlikely to use it as most people have own mobiles.

Room service is excellent and fairly inexpensive, although breakfast is a bit of a rip off at $150HK all other meals are resonable price. Numerous nearby restaurants though so we only had room service twice.

Location is right in the middle of Nathan Rd so everything is nearby. A 1 block walk to train station, 10 minutes to ferry. Several shopping malls within a few blocks (these are currently being renovated so expect them to get better) and the markets are also within walking distance, although train is easier and quicker.

I actually didn't think much of Hong Kong itself, just not what I was looking for in a holiday and I prefer Tokyo, but this hotel made what would have been an average holiday great.

I stayed on the 15th floor where they have a separate check-in. The nice thing about it is that after checking out you can still come back after your meetings, and enjoy their complimentary lounge with food and refreshments available. Also, you can use the pool and the sauna downstairs to freshen up before the night flight.

The Mira lived up to our expectations and its hype. We stayed in a suite on the 15th floor which gave us access to the club lounge and I would definitely recommend this option. The room without the lounge area was on the small side but the glass divide for the bathroom made it feel more spacious. The lounge area was comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was well equipped with a spacious shower and deep bath, the large vanity area was well light, with plenty of space for toiletries. We did spend a few days wondering about the dark rectangle on the mirror but eventually found out that it was a TV for watching whilst in the bath. The entertainment centre was excellent.
The swimming pool and spa were outstanding, fabulous decor, although the steam room emitted steam which was excessively hot. The club lounge was peaceful and comfortable, the food available there was superb, staff were attentive and friendly. Breakfast was available in the lounge or in the downside restaurant, whilst the ambience in the lounge was better the selection of food in the restaurant was vast and the quality was extremely high. The corridors were black marble and mirrors so fairly dark and the ceilings were quite low, interesting, not oppressive. All staff were friendly and helpful. The location was really good with the park across the road, shops, MTR and harbour close by. I would thoroughly recommend this hip hotel.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in the Mira as a mini honeymoon in August. I had stated on the reservation that it was our honeymoon and had purposely booked through the hotel website to see if we would get anything extra. Unfortunately the hotel was rammed and even getting the room that we reserved was a 10 minute ordeal when checking in. We did get a card and 3 mini cupcakes, better than nothing I guess.
The hotel has been completely renovated recently and was done in a very modern style. The original infrastructure cannot be changed, so the ceiling are very low but other than that it pretty much seems like a new building. The rooms themselves are at the 4 to low 5 star hotel level. Seperate bath and shower, safe with socket etc. Some really cool gadgets as well, the best being the cellphone tied into your room phone. Essentially what this does is you can take the cellphone with you when you leave the room and still use it as your room phone. Most useful for a group of people travelling together, you can make room to room phone calls (free) wherever you are in Hong Kong. This is the first time I have seen this in a hotel and it was not just a gimic but truly useful.
Breakfast was decent but a bit on the pricey side (210 hk or so +). For my money I would rather walk down to the Intercontinental and pay 250 for the best breakfast in the city.
Service is good in this hotel, they are friendly and helpful. Price is slightly on the high side but not outrageous. If you want to be in the middle of the tourist area of Nathan Road, the Mira is a good choice.

This is great for staying in Kowloon. The hotel is stylish and modern and the staff very helpful. A 15 minute walk will get you to the harbour where you can catch the star ferry to hong kong island for HK$2.50!!! A 20 min walk will get you to the Temple street night markets and everything else is on your doorstep. A shopping mall over the road, and shops and restaurants a plenty. Fantastic spa facilties - even if you just use the pool and jacuzzi. Flat screen TV in the room with free access to internet, an IPOD docking station and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Enjoy your stay!!!
