“Decent Budget Hotel in TST”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2014

Location:

The hotel is located in South Chatham Road. Easy access to East Tsim Sha Tsui & Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Stations.

From Airport:

You can take A21 Bus from HKIA, which drops you just in front of the hotel. Alternatively you can also take a Airport Express MTR upto Kowloon Station and a Free Shuttle bus will drop you near to the Hotel.

Rooms:

Remember you are in HK and rooms will be small. But not very cramped feeling. The room I stayed in 10th Floor was poorly illuminated. Decent bathroom.

Problem is with the AC's, they were not powerful and at times felt discomfort.

Check IN & Check OUT:

The check in time is 2PM. They are not ready even to check in 1/2 Hr before. When I told them that I have a meeting at 3PM, the support staff told be the room with single bed is not ready, but eventually was given a twin bedroom at 2PM. Check out at 12 Noon. The check IN & OUT process was smooth. They charge HKD 5 for storage of Luggage even for few Hrs. Never hears such practice elsewhere.

Food:
Did not have food in the Hotel. No comments. Special mention for Indian Travelers especially vegetarians, there are quite a few Indian Pure Vegetarian Restaurants around (Woodlands-Moody Road, Branto-Locak Road, Smart Pure Veg-Chungking Mansion)

Pros: The hotel was located in the heart of kowloon....you will find enormous restaurants and shopping streets nearby...the nearest metro station is tsim sha sui which makes your local travel very easy...

Cons: The hotel could have been renovated...it was very old and stinking all around...

Checking in was easy, the staff friendly & efficient.
Our room on the 15th floor was clean & the beds comfortable.

For a budget priced hotel it was very adequate & as we didn't intend spending too much time in it, we weren't too bothered about views.

It is very convenient for shops, the Observatory, Museum of History & Kowloon Park,( which has the Hong Kong Discovery Centre in - well worth a visit.)

The hotel was a three day stopover on the way home from Australia, booked by Flight Centre.
We were upgraded to a superior room on the 12th floor, which at least kept us away from the permanent smell of sewers at low level. The room was adequate and was reasonably clean. That's really all I can say about the place.I would not stay there again.

Room Tip: As high as possible to avoid the all pervading smell.

The Ramada Kowloon is in the budget range of hotels and one pays for what one gets. Stayed first week in February. Check in and out quick and efficient, rooms are small and noise from within and outside can be intrusive. Décor is poor and the entire hotel is in need of an overall renovation.

The bed was hard, room reasonably clean and acceptable for a one night stay.

We found the staff to be friendly and efficient and the concierge showed me a very quick way to walk to Hung Hom station as well as assisting with luggage to the overhead walkway.

We booked this hotel as we had need to be close to STS and Hung Hom, both within easy walking distance.

The hotel is surrounded by shops and eating places and a short walk to the underground system, giving speedy access to all of Hong Kong.

Did not eat in the hotel as I knew there would be many eating places within a short walk of the hotel, and there were.

I would book this hotel again if for one night and my circumstances were the same, but would look elsewhere if for a longer period.

This hotel really needs reconstruction and most of rooms are claustrophobically small. On my opinion staff is friendly. The advantage is location - you can get to any popular part of Kowloon pretty quickly. Another advantage is the fact this hotel is quiet and they have continental breakfasts. Generally it's good value for money if you're not focused on interior design and don't mind small rooms.

This hotel should be closed for reconstruction. Everything is old and dirty, starting from the entrance. Besides, the staff is truly unfriendly; I was embarrassed every time I had to ask them a question, they always responded quite rudely. Also, the rooms are very small, and the bathroom was not completely clean when we arrived at the room. In other words, definitely not a good option for the price we pay. And be aware it's VERY far from any subway/metro station. Don't expect to sleep if you don't turn your fan to the max; you can hear noises from everywhere. A true horrible experience!!!

Room Tip: Always on the corner of the highest floor.
