It is not easy choosing a hotel in a huge city like HK when you have never been there! We opted for the Royal Park because of price, good reviews, the pool and the room size. Rooms indeed are very large, which is handy if you travel with (a) kid(s) and stay a number of days. The rooms have a vague 70ies feel to them, but this is just the design - nothing is worn and all is impeccably clean. Room is also well designed with a safe, a desk, lots of sockets and room for all your stuff. Large window, so lots of light. Pool and gym both very nice. Staff is also friendly and helpful and English is very good.
Obviously, this place is out of the way. It is very well connected to ShaTin MTR station (you walk directly into New Town mall from the 3rd floor of the hotel. A 10 minute walk through this nice but very crowded mall will get you to the mtr).Even though the MTR is very efficient, you will have to change trains about 2-3 times each time you want to get to TST or island (4 times for Disneyland). This does wear you out over time, especially if you are with s stroller, stay multiple days and want to do lots of sightseeing.
We did not have breakfast in the hotel. Note that tgere are lots of options in New Town mall, but they do not open till 10 am.
We ended up not using the pool that much. On a next visit i might therefore opt for a hotel in Kowloon proper, even though i really liked Royal Park, the room and their service.

Had recommended this hotel to my sister and saw her room, it was great. I stayed here in early August and was impressed with the room. It was very quiet (I had asked for a quiet room) most of the time, a group on the floor above, were a bit noisy, but quieted down after a couple of hours. The hotel is adjacent to New Town Plaza in Sha Tin, so there are plenty of shops, restaurants, cinema, etc. to keep yourself entertained. The Heritage museum is located only a few blocks away and on Wednesdays, it's free. Transportation to any point in Hong Kong is readily available, including the airport. The rate is quite reasonable too.

Pros:
- The room is nicely decorated, well equipped and maintained. That's the most important factor (to me).
- In-room WiFi was included (at least in the hotel deal I got).
- Just a 5-minute walking distance (indoor walk) from the Shatin MTR station.
- The hotel is practically located IN a shopping mall. Very convenient for shopping.

Cons:
- The architecture of the hotel is rather odd. When you enter the hotel from the MTR direction (which was the main entrance from my perspective), you have to walk through the dining room to reach the hotel reception or the elevators. Strange, isn't it?
- It greatly depends where you need to be, but Shatin is a bit distant from the city center.

We've stayed a total of 3 times at the Royal Park, using their long stay packages and it is still the best hotel in Shatin by miles!
Location: perfectly situated next to New Town Plaza and the MTR. Staff: friendly and accomodating. Food: still tasty. Rooms: spacious, modern and clean.
New Town Plaza is definitely the best mall, with fresh and inexpensive sushi bars, a Muji store and so much more great stores
We're visiting HK again this December, can't wait to stay at the Royal Park again! We're turning into regulars ;-)

Room Tip: Make sure to book a room overlooking the river, the view is fantastic.

This is our third time that we have stayed at the Royal park, we will always choose this hotel over others we have tried.
1 - the room sizes are large
2 - service is great including house keeping
3 - convenient location
4 - great price
We arrived at 8.30am after a long flight from UK and we knew check in is at 2pm. The lovely lady at reception knew we had a long flight and offered one of our rooms at 10am so we could freshen up. We left our bags securely with the bell boy and went to have breakfast at Maxims(in the connecting shopping centre) and returned at 10am and true to her word the room was ready. The second room was ready at 1pm. This was a great start to our holiday even though we only stayed for 3 nts as we were travelling on to Jakarta and Bali.
We look forward to staying again when we are next in HK

MY husband and I stayed at this hotel and LOVED it! The downstairs bar was always hoping and we loved the live entertainment. The room service was great at a reasonable price. It was very conveniently located across from the mall, train, and bus stops. the rooms were spacious and clean and the bathrooms were nice as well. We will be back in Hong Kong in October and hope to stay there again!

I booked the Family Room Package directly with the hotel through its reservation system. Arrival at the hotel was a breeze as the public bus A41 reaches the hotel's doorsteps in about 3 stops for 22 HKD (approximately 45 minutes). Returning to the airport at the end of your stay is convenient as well since it is by the same bus at the same bus stop (just watch out for the destination of the bus you are boarding to ensure it is headed to and not from the airport). This is a big plus if you do not want to drag your luggages around and yet want a cheap and fast way to reach your hotel. Check-in was smooth. We were offered a room with a double bed and a single bed instead of three single beds as booked - so note that your room may vary according to availability but since the difference was not an issue for us it was alright.

The family room was very spacious. Apart from the large beds, there were also a small couch/sofa, a glass working desk, a nice sitting bench, bedside tables, LCD television - and most importantly, plenty of remaining space to walk about. Basically the photos that you see uploaded by the the hotel are pretty much identical to the actual room itself. Although we could not get a room with a river view (as recommended by other users here), we still had a good view of the connecting shopping centre and its swimming pool. The bathroom was always kept clean, taps for hot water were easy to operate (single tap for temperature of water). Toiletries, towels, hangers and slippers were provided as well. Room was always made up every morning. Although there is free WiFi provided throughout the hotel and the rooms, it was rather patchy and unreliable as the Internet connection keeps dropping - this could be an area for the hotel to work on.

We had breakfast included as part of the package. Buffet breakfast was provided at the 2+2 cafe - although there was quite a big range of food available, it rarely varied between days so it was quite boring to be eating the same breakfast every day for consecutive days. The breakfast is officially priced at ~150 hkd per pax per day for walk-in customers (although personally I do not think it is worth this price), so you can gauge for yourself whether it is worthwhile to have breakfast included in your package.

Being located in Shatin is always a disadvantage since the hotel is relatively far from the attractions in Tsim Sha Tsui and Central areas - note that you have to transfer trains up to 3 times to get to some popular areas (but usually within 30 minutes of travel). However, if you wish to stay in an area away from the busy town areas, this hotel offers an excellent respite. Shatin is relatively quieter than the Mongkok/Tsim Sha Tsui areas, but is still well-patronised by locals and tourists alike. The hotel is connected to Shatin MTR Station by the New Town Plaza, which is a large shopping mall that offers well-known and popular brands including H&M, Gap, Uniqlo, Zara, etc. There are also several dining cafes and restaurants, and bakeries and supermarkets for your needs. The walk from the MTR station is about 5-10 minutes, but since this is through the air-conditioned shopping centre and the walk is lined with shops, you will hardly notice the length of the walk at all. I'm not sure if this walkway will be closed at night but I have managed to walk back to the hotel through this path at close to midnight with no problems (although all the shops of the shopping mall were closed).

The accessibility, rooms and amenities of the hotel are excellent. I will definitely consider returning to this hotel should I visit Hong Kong again, and I would highly recommend anyone else who is willing to trade a central location for spacious rooms and excellent accessibility and neighbouring amenities to seriously consider this hotel.
