“My Favorite Hotel In China”
Reviewed 29 June 2008

We stayed here on a group tour of China. I don't usually stay in places this fancy when I travel on my own, so this place was quite a treat. The room was spacious and beautiful, and fully outfitted with a kitchenette.

At first I wondered if I would like the location, because it's in the Mong Kok district, which is more central Kowloon and seems like a long way from downtown. However, the location turned out to be perfect. The bird and flower markets were only a block away. The other markets were easily within walking distance. A little further afoot is Kowloon Park, which is a really beautiful park and wonderful place to take a break and enjoy the outdoors and public art. This hotel also has easy access to the metro system and a local train service.

Attached to this hotel is a very modern shopping mall, and close-by within the mall is a coffee shop with free internet access with purchase. The hotel has only two computers in their business center, and according to the front desk only one of them is for English speakers, so unless you know Chinese or bring your own computer, you may have to wait a while.

The breakfast buffet was huge with an abundance of eastern and western foods appropriate for breakfast or brunch. This was by far the best breakfast of the whole trip.

This was also the only hotel of our whole trip that had an exchange desk that would give cash on a credit card or bank card (all the others would exchange only cash for cash), so it was really nice *not* to have to find an ATM. (Our guide highly recommended using only cash in the markets, so having cash was important.)

Stayed at this Hotel on the first leg of a world trip. Was a great start to our trip with nothing to complain about here. Room was very spacious with Flat Screen TV with English channels. Pool and Spa was great, Breakfast was reasonably priced and a huge choice from Western and Asian foods. Only minus for us was our friends lived on Hong Kong Island and this Hotel is in Kowloon so if you want to see more of Hong Kong Island you would need to stay there. The trains are great but still takes a good 30 - 40 minutes to get there.

Stayed at the royal plaza for 5 nights. very large room, flat screen tv with lots of channels. Next to a shopping mall and 10 mins walk to 2 subway stations; one can be walked to without going outside. lovely outdoor pool and hottub. only annoyance was staff ringing to find out when they could clean the room when a do not disturb sign was on, which kinda defeats the purpose of the sign! apart from that, no complaints. would go back.

Took the Chinaspree 15 day China and Hong Kong tour. This hotel was one of the many throughout the trip. This was the best. Great staff, great location, great rooms, great lobby.

This was my favorite hotel on a Chinaspree tour in China and Hong Kong. I would rate this hotel 5*. The rooms were spacious and had the finest sheets (1000 thread) I've ever slept on. We had a great view of the city. We ate at the restaurant in the lobby and it has a good selection of Western food. The hotel is adjacent to a huge modern shopping mall. My only complaint was that they wanted a deposit to use the phone, even for a toll free call they charge $4 per call.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. Then we tried to book one more night but the hotel was fully booked and we had to search another hotel.

This hotel is very big, very clean and the room was very big and really comfortable. The bathroom is huge. The staff is kind and efficient and they speak english and help you to communicate the adress to the taxi driver. The hotel is close to a mall and subway station is 5 min. walking. The location is very good.

Just some advices: To stay in common areas (lobby, reataurant...) pick up a sweater because air conditioning is icy.

Second is that we tried to get info at the travel desk about a couple of trips and the hotel booking prices are higher than the real cost and the information about duration and prices if you want to do them by yourself is not very precise (they told us that it would take three hours to get to Giant Buddha if we wanted to go by ourselves and it took 1.30 h)

Despite that, this hotel is really comfortable, well located, comfortable, clean and nice and the swimming pool + jauzzi in the roof is...simply wonderful, specially after a day walking

It was a great hotel, with the Mong Kok east station below it. Prince Edward station was 10 mins away and Tsim Sha Tsui( a major tourist area) was 12 mins away by taxi. The prices were quite competitive and there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to Tsim Sha Tsui, which compensated for its slightly inconvenient location.
