Very accessible to Mongkok area and MTR. Rooms huge for the price (Got a low seasons early bird discount at $150 per night). Would recommend.

My husband and I have just returned home from a three week stay at the Royal Plaza Hotel in the Kowloon area of Hong Kong.
We will preface our comments by saying that we will echo the numerous benefits of the location, transportation, shopping centre etc. that others have mentioned in their reviews.
Since we had a lengthy stay we will mention that there are many discounts and benefits available to those staying 7 days or longer including discounted room rates, and discounts on many hotel services and meals at the hotel restaurants. For reference, please see the hotel website under special offers. We will mention dry cleaning and laundry was done expertly and reasonably priced.
This hotel is an Unsung Hero nestled amongst all of the other hotels in the city. After much research it is in our view that it has the best value dollar for dollar for the product that it offers and the services it provides. The service is excellent and consistent. The food is delicious, of good quality, quantity and is well presented. We ate at La Scala for Breakfast, La Fontana for Lunch and had two different traditional Chinese dinners of outstanding quality and stunning presentation at the Chinese restaurant. Such consistency in all facets of operations of the hotel is the hallmark of any superior hotel. It is easy to operate a few departments well in a hotel, however, to do so consistently overall is not easy, but this hotel has done it up right. We also had occasion to benefit from the hotel's catering department and it was consistently of high caliber as well.
We would return to this hotel without hesitation for the following reasons: the rates are reasonable; the hotel has earned the right to call itself a 5 star hotel in every way; it is top notch in terms of cleanliness from the rooms, to the public areas and various restaurants. Service provided from check in staff, to housekeeping, concierge service, doormen, customer service, and other staff are quick to address and resolve any questions or concerns.
Our stay on the Executive Club Floor was remarkable. It is well worth the difference in price to stay on the Club Floor instead of a regular floor for the following reasons: the buffet breakfast which one can eat there or in La Scala restaurant which is vast with comprehensive both hot and cold offerings, can serve as both breakfast and lunch in terms of sustanance, there is afternoon tea including cheese and crackers, french breads, tea sandwiches, fruits and many offerings in the afternoons and non alcoholic beverages offered all day including specialty coffees throughout the day. In the evening there are alcoholic beverages free of charge and a substantial hot and cold hors d' oeuvres selection that is of exceptional quality and quantity and it is replenished and refreshed continually throughout the evening.
The service on the Club Floor by the staff is outstanding. Drinks are replenished and dishes are removed most efficiently and with good nature by the Executive Club Floor Staff. It wasn't until we went out one night for coctails at another restaurant until we saw the real true value that we were receiving at the Royal Plaza Hotel and that was just taking into consideration the coctail hour alone.
The other feature we enjoyed was the Definition Health Club and the Outdoor Pool, all of the services there were immaculate and the facility was well run and the hours of operation were generous. We also used some of the business services and these were well priced and efficient.
For a relaxing and enjoyable stress free stay of any length, consistent service, excellent value for your dollar, we would highly recommend the Royal Plaza Hotel.

We stayed there for 7 nights and checked in around 7 in the evening. As soon as we got off the Airport Free Shuttle bus, the porter was very helpful and helped us with our luggage. Then we went straight to the reception and the room was ready for us. The lobby was big, luxurious looking and very clean. Staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful too, since we asked about the La Scala buffet.

Our room was booked as superior and it was huge! We had a big fridge and we were surprised by all the amenities. We had a sofa, cofee table, a good size tv and a king size comfortable bed. After 16 hours with no sleep, that bed was a saviour. Everything was neat and clean and the air con unit was great, especially when the temperature outdoors were 33C!

The hotel is situated within a shopping mall, Grand Century Place. In the hot and humid weather, we just ate breakfast at the food places within the mall. 5th floor is the food court with chinese food. On the same floor as the main entrance of the hotel, theres a Japanese place whcih does nice ramen and rices, also McDonalds, Coffee shops, crepes...ice cream..etc. I love the location of this hotel, as it is close to MongKok East train station and Mongkok MTR, whcih is a walk bridge away.

Security at the hotel was well organised and maintained, as we got back in the evening, there was a staff near the lifts to verify your room number and make sure you had your room card. Lifts were operated by the room cards. Cleaners cleaned the lifts every 2 hours because of hygenie of swine flu and all that.

The buffet at La Scala was fantastic! We spent 2.5 hours in the restaurant and had to drag ourselves out, we were so full. The food was great! There were sushi, fresh sashimi, boston lobster, wagu beef, lamb chops, sharks fin soup, korean rice and meats, cold tiger prawns and alsorts of seafood. Desserts was amazing, there were over 30 kinds of desserts, not including the chocolate fountains. OK enough about the restaurant.

The staff at the hotel were very polite, friendly and spoke good English and Chinese. They were very professional and helped us out when we were planning out check out, as we wasnt sure whether to take the free shuttle back to the Kowloon train station or the taxi. We got the taxi at the end, it costed 40 HKD. The hotel staff told us its 20 mins to wait for the shuttle and that the taxi for two is probably much more ideal since we dont have to wait around and the distance to the train station was short.

Overall, I like this hotel. Next time I come to HK, I will definitely book this hotel again. The location, rooms, customer service, layout of the hotel is all fantastic. Since our break was just one week, I am so pleased I booked this hotel, as its comfy after a days out and about in the hot weather. We came back to a relaxing and cheery hotel and room.

We got our flights and hotel for 7 nights through Expedia, however, a friend of mine told me that if you stay for 14 nights, its better to book through the hotel website, as they have some great deals. I will definitely bear this in mind. I highly recommend this hotel!

I stayed at this hotel last year and it was fantastic and very reasonable, so when travelling to Hong Kong again, it was a logical choice. The hotel is attached to a large shopping mall, which also has a station, so though the location is not great, its very easy and cheap to jump on the MTR and get around most of the best areas.
I didnt get a great start when the hotel reception had mixed up my room booking, but they upgraded me to a better room and things then settled down. Like other reviewers, I strongly recomend the exec club floor. Its more expensive, but you get a bigger room, breakfast and use of the exec lounge and its facilities.
One last point..........I paid cash for the bus back to the airport not realising that a limo had been booked by the airline for me. The hotel contacted me by phone, cancelled the bus and refunded my cash. It was very honest and very impressive.

I have a bit mixed feelings about this hotel. We arrived a bit early and couldn’t get a room right away when we arrived (they said that please come back after 3 hours). I totally understand the check in policy and we knew we were going to be there a bit early (I had sent an email informing that if just possible, we would be very glad to get a room). We waited for half an hour in the lobby and saw people checking in. I went to the front desk again and asked if there could be a room for us as well and suddenly there was. I’m glad I opened my mouth and didn’t wait for 3 hours.

The room was comfy and large, although a bit outdated. TV and bed were new but the “kitchen” area was dirty and outdated. We had a very nice view from our room. The hotel itself looks like a good 4 star hotel (with plenty of marble and fancy “old school” decoration). Pool area was beautiful and we especially liked the Jacuzzi they had there. The only thing is that they close the pool area for an hour between 1pm and 2pm (for cleaning). What is the point with that since it’s the best time to lie by the pool? They also closed the pool twice because there was a thunderstorm warning (there wasn’t even any rain) so we were able to visit the pool area only once during our stay which was a bit disappointing. Despite all the obstacles, we liked the pool area.

I was a bit afraid of the location since it was no near the centre of Kowloon. Honestly, the best thing was that it was no near the tourist traps. We wouldn’t have found half of the places we saw when we were wandering the streets of Mong Kok. But this is purely a personal thing. Some people do not like the authentic Chinese feel of that area and prefer the Hong Kong Island or central Kowloon. For us the location was no problem and we are very glad we divided our time between Island and Mong Kok. There is a direct gateway to east MTR line from the mall that is located right next door to the hotel.

We didn’t try any of the hotel restaurants or breakfast so unfortunately cannot comment on those. Overall our stay was pleasant with a few flaws with the service. For the price we paid (54€ per room per night) this hotel was certainly worth the money. With a room facelift and English courses for the staff this hotel would be even better.

My wife I have just returned from one week in this hotel. When we first arrived we were very impressed with the plush large and welcoming reception area. Considering what we paid for the room we were very impressed at the interior it is worthy a of a five star hotel. The reception were very friendly and invited us to check the executive floor. This turned out however to really be an opportunity for the hotel sell us an upgrade to include breakfast There was no problem however when we turned this down but it was nice to check-in in relative as opposed to standing in reception.

We were given a very nice room with a great view and I have to say the comfort was of the highest order and very clean and spacious. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've never slept in abroad. The rooms was fully air-conditioned and the bathroom very nice. The staff are very pleasent and were always very helpful but not intrusive.

The hotel was joined two a large shopping centre that had lots of food a and great shops. Also connected to the hotel is a train station if you fancy a trip to China. The subway station to get round Hong Kong is a 5-10 walk but easy enough to find once you get the hang of it.

Above all and despite any other reviews unless you want to spend silly money I doubt there is a hotel in Hong Kong as nice as this for the money and such an all rounder. Its a very good and big standard 4 star hotel in a great part of town that is well connected and provides a great comfortable base for any visiter to Hong Kong.

I would certainly stay here again and reccomend it for leisure and business travellers alike.

The Royal Plaza is in a fabulous location, within walking distance to all the famous markets. It is perfect for shopping. It ias also situated adjacent to a train station so travel around Hong Kong via their impressive rail system is very easy. The hotel rooms are lovely, and the whole place is immaculate. Service is outstanding. The restaurants serve good food, especially the buffet dinner which is reasonably priced and a real winner. The extra price for the executive lounge is well worth it.
