Stayed 4 consecutive nights in Mui Wo. Great loction on the beach, friendly staff (Thai, Philippino, Hongkong). Rooms need a little of touch up. Starcase, lobby etc just new painted. Breakfast offers a good choice. Stayed at Mainbuilding, Large and clean swimmingpool. Due to arising thunderstorms sometimes closed for a short period. Walking distance to Mui Wo ferry (to Central) approx 10 min. Many resto und western bars around.

I stayed there for the second time in 2 years, for the same reason a lot of people stay there: it is the only mid-range hotel in South Lantau, and South Lantau is awesome. So yes the location is perfect, by the beach, a short walk from the center of Mui Wo and the ferry pier. Also the breakfast is quite decent, and the service is polite and reasonably helpful (as long as you don't ask anything out of the ordinary).

This being said, the hotel itself looks like it's falling apart. Holes in the wall, paint falling in places, the bathrooms in particular are appalling. No cosy feeling at all. It looks as if, given the location, they don't feel the need to make much improvement.

The southwing-rooms are better but more expensive then the northwing (those rooms need a little renovation to be tip-top). The swimmingpool is nice and get a beautiful surrounding view on the mountainhills. Helpful staff at Silvermine- Taddy at the reception was the best! Very helpful man. Very good location nearby the beach, at nighttime some cows like to relax on the cool beachsand. No worries, people clean every day at the beach. The breakfast was the best I ate in Hongkong and is included in the price of the room. The lack of an elevator is not so good if you got heavy bags. The food was to expensive at the hotel restaurant-choose Mc Donalds, 10 minutes walk for only 20 HKD, a wholee meal! The toprating: exellent is because of Taddy in the reception, otherwise 3++. Alot of mosquitos around the hotell-Lantau.

Room Tip: Southwing, groundfloor is the best because of the lack of elevator.

The view is good.
The Service so so.
I lived in the old wing, really a bit old especially the toilet.
But still very fine as outside is the beach.
Food in rest not bad, still worth to try.

That time I went with kids, so I found the room is a bit small.
But still happy to travel to waterfall or other places are not difficult.
I will visit with my kids again this Oct I planned :-)

We stayed here while in transit for a night in Hong Kong on an international trip. it is 30 mins from the airport. Taxis cannot come to the lobby because the hotel is on the pier. We had luggage and had to haul it in the rain from the road. There are no elevators and our room was on the 2nd floor. They have no one to help with luggage. They charge for everything, to help you bring bags down, adapters. There was no hot water kettle in the room and there was no soap in the very unclean bath room. The beds are hard like wood. The manager on duty had a staff of one old lady and they don't help you if you need a taxi or anything else so if you have any issues here, you have to figure it out.

The room was very expensive with respect to value. $190 US, their most expensive room Their was no elevator, many rollaway beds and a few cleaning carts in the halls and in the room, stained carpeting, rusty sink drain, chock full of furniture so that it was difficult to see the view because a table and chairs and large armoire were lined up along the windows, VERY hard, uncomfortable bed, cheap linens.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a good room if you want a comfortable bed and modern decor.

Quite far from HK city, In Dayu island. But very nice view, mountain, sea.
Room was good, simple, clean;
Location is near by sea, 10 meters;
It is good for family, big place, not too many people around;
only thing is insect (mosquito) anywhere, please protect well;
