My 13yo and I did this walk on a humid, but sunny Hong Kong Day and thoroughly enjoyed it. We began at Shek O Road, and while there are quite a few stairs at the beginning, it gave us a good workout without being too strenuous. The spectacular views across Shek O and Tai Tam Bay make it well worth the effort. Some of the terrain is a little rough so good walking shoes or sport sandals are a must and definitely pack a sizable bottle of water. The walk took us about 2.5hrs as we took it fairly easy and finished up with a late lunch at the beachside cafe at Big Wave Bay. Minibuses from the carpark back to Shek-O and Shau Kei Wan MTR are very regular. This hike is a must for any HK visitor.

Well worth the time to get there. Take the bus to Stanley, then transfer to the number 14 and then the 9 to the end of the route at Big Wave Bay. Just ask the bus drivers they or a local will be glad to help. Follow the signs tot he Hong Kong Trail, and follow it to the Dragon's Back. The views and breeze are well worth the effort it takes to get there, as well as many waterfalls. Bring water, and an umbrella (for shade, or rain protection) This takes about 2-3 hours depending on your pace, skill, heat, and how long you just want to sit and take in the breathtaking views.

On a sunny day, dragons back is an amazing hike with great views and can end with a swim and sunbathe on one of Hong Kong's best beaches - big wave bay.

Great views, and a little more "off the beaten track" in that not every path is paved and concreted.

Excellent walk with great views of the South China Sea. It was a bit difficult to find the start though. We wondered up from the underground but got lost and had to have a local point the route start out to us. On way back the bus stops to get back where fairly clear though. My tip is take instructions as when you get off the underground don't expect it to be signposted.
