“Convenient, clean and good value!”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

We have stayed at the YWCA on numerous occasions, the rates are always very competitive and the location makes getting into town relatively easy. You can walk down hill through Hong Kong Park to Pacific Place/Admiralty or through the Botanic Gardens into Central or take a minibus or bus. To get back, the No.12A bus goes from Peddar Street (Central) to right near the front door of the hotel, or a taxi is never that expensive. For the more energetic, a walk up to the Peak from the YWCA is very doable and a lovely experience. Or go downhill from the hotel and take the Peak Tram up!

This last trip was a 7 night stay and I really couldn't fault it. The rooms are compact but very comfortable, the beds are very firm and the bathrooms' rain shower is superb. The view is fantastic. I have to commend the housekeeping, they do an excellent job, the room/bathroom was always completely spotless when we returned each day.

My only gripe is the steep $100 they charge for 24hrs of in-room WiFi usage. However, it is free in the lobby.

We'll continue to stay at the YWCA when we visit Hong Kong, it's a reliable hotel in a convenient location and we'd highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Overlooking the Botanic Gardens is good! I've not discovered the difference between a Superior a...

I had mixed feelings. This is a good hotel as long as you don't mind using a taxi/bus each time you want to go to/from the hotel. Its high on a hill. Even walking down to central is not easy if you have young kids especially with stroller. Gym, pool is great. Pool is child friendly.

Included breakfast is average. Its not the best quality but you wont starve. If you are staying more than 3 days, I recommend buying your own food for breakfast from the AWESOME supermarket under the hotel called Fusion. It made me almost cry seeing a huge variety of products from all over the world but especially from Australia (I say cry because I've been living in Korea for last 6mths and hard to find anything I like there).

The botanical zoo gardens across the street is fantastic. You can forget you are in a big city and simply relax. Peak tram is just down the road too. Oh and the view from the rooms are great.

Room size was great. We had a suite and its worth it. Queen bed in room and sofa bed in lounge for our 2 kids. Suite has mini kitchen too (managed to cook spag bolognaise thanks to aussie beef and pasta sauce available from Fusion)

Worst thing about the hotel is the non friendly staff, but thats HK customer service in general, so don't take it personally. You will find it everywhere.

Dont bother with hotel internet. Just get from 7-11 a data sim card. Its branded PCCW and comes with 5gb of data for about 98bux HKD. Then with your phone you can make a wifi hotspot to share with your partner. Can even make some calls with it too!

So if u want a hotel thats on the "good" side of HK, with lots of parks, then go for this one. Value for money.

I love the Hotel location - its directly opposite to the Botanical Garden, about 10 mins walk from the PEAK Tram, 2 mins away from Fusion (Supermarket), 10 mins taxi drive to Central/Admiralty station and to LKF (clubs), 15 mins taxi drive to Hong Kong station & ferry terminals. Even though its so accessible, the hotel is located at a quiet spot, making it the perfect place to stay.

The hotel room was very small and compact, but the staff was courteous & friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the garden gives a good view. Rooms on higher floors may give a harbor view

This boutique hotel had a very convenient location, at mid-level Hong Kong with easy access to MTR (Central - 10 min down hill walk). Also right on mini-bus route and regular bus service. Hailing a taxi was a cinch too. Rooms had tight space but sufficient (considering Hong Kong standard) and some with nice view of Hong Kong island and the Botanical Garden right next door. Given the noise level of Hong Kong can be unbearable, this hotel was surprisingly quiet. Guest can access the gym and outdoor pool. They also provide free wi-fi at the lobby. We were happy to come back in future.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor room facing Kowloon side (hotel is circular shaped).

We went to HK over Chinese New Years when most hotels had hiked up their prices to the point of being unaffordable. The Garden View was a good price for a great location. It is right next to the Botanic Gardens in a quiet, green neighbourhood. It is close enough to walk to the more happening areas (if you like a bit of exercise). The rooms were very clean and well equipped. Would definitely go back here.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the gardens

As hotels in Hong Kong go, this one is probably the best value for money you'll find. Right near the Zoo and the Peak Tram the place is well maintained and has a great supermarket right underneath it. You can easily walk to the Peak Tram or down into Central.

The staff weren't overly friendly but nice enough and for the price, they were just fine.

My only qualm is that both my friend and I who stayed in the suite got horrible amounts of bed bug bites all over us. They were showing up for the (standard) 14 days afterwards and we were both frightened some travelled home with us. Luckily they didn't. Bed bugs are not a problem of cleanliness, once they move in it requires a trained pest control person to eradicate them and it's a hard process.

Just be wary if you happen to get lots of mosquito-like bites in groups of 3 up to 2 weeks after staying here, check your luggage!

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are a good size for Hong Kong. Wifi is only free in the lounge which is a little annoying. Pool doesn't get much sun because of all the high rise buildings around it and the life guards seem to be constantly giving swimming lessons to kids in it. Rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel.
