“Great location, great view, great price!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2014

We stayed 3 nights in the hotel. The staff were prompt & efficient. The room was clean and the view was awesome on the 11th floor, especially at night.

When we arrived at the hotel, the lobby was full of Chinese New Year decorations and we found it quite lovely to see the kiat kiat oranges. The overall atmosphere was quiet and relaxing.

It was easy to get to and from the hotel once you get the hang of where the bus stop is and where you want to go. The Peak Tram terminus is just down the road ( walk from the hotel on the Garden Road side and go down to Kennedy Heights. Turn left and you'll find a path called Tram Pathway and just follow that to the Terminus. Going to Central is easy from Kennedy Heights and ride the 12A Bus. If you want to go to the Mid Levels, take Bus 23 and go down at the Sun Yat Sen Museum. The mid-level escalators are just few steps from the bus stop.

I have no complaints but probably a suggestion. I come from a country where smiling is as easy as breathing. I noticed that not a lot of people smile in Hong Kong. However, if you are in the hospitality or customer service business (which we and my husband are), it really goes a long way to be accommodating and friendly. :) It makes your customers come back. It's not what you do or what you say that people remember, it's how you made them feel.

Room Tip: Request for rooms on the higher floors so you can enjoy the view. The hotel only has free wifi in t...

In a city where accommodation is very pricey, The Garden View Hotel is inexpensive. The cost of a room is approx £60 per night for a double room excluding breakfast. It has Wifi free of charge in reception but is charged extra If required in your bedroom, therefor everybody tends to congregate downstairs and as there is limited seating it probably means you will to stand to deal with emails etc. The hotel is in the business area so,there are not many shops or food outlets close -by, but is only a ten minute walk to the tram station to take you to the Peak. Rooms are basic but clean and have toiletries, hair dryer, safe, and air conditioning. On a budget it is a useful place to consider.

Room Tip: Whist limited, there are some rooms which have views of the bay

The hotel is modern and clean with attentive staff.
Our room was a decent size, clean, and had a fantastic view of the Hong Kong city skyline which was the highlight of this space.
The buffet breakfast had a good selection and decent quality but the staff were a bit slow at setting up. I would wait 30-45 minutes after open in future.

Taxis were super cheap to get around, so no problem that the hotel was slightly removed from the main downtown area. It was right next to the free botanical zoo park which is definitely worth a visit, and only a short walk to Soho.

Convenient location, great hotel, good value for money, and would stay there again.

We email Hotel on best way to get to Hotel from Airport, we took the Express to Central, bought tickets at Airport HK($160) then taxi to Hotel ($39 which included $5 ea bag, we had 2) Departing, same trip, same bags by taxi ($46) Might I add the Hotels costing was incorrect, they need to update their records.

On arrival our room wasn't ready at 1.45pm, check in was at 2pm. After 10min I asked for a high floor room if possible, they up graded us to room 1811, 2 single beds which we were fine with, it had view of brick wall, great view of the city and botanical gardens which was opposite in lounge room. The lights at night was amazing. The room was clean and very spacious, bathroom huge with separate bath/ shower, kitchen small and fridge good size, no free WIFI in room only in reception area which was small. Safe in room.
Supermarket down the hill a bit which we bought breakfast cereals milk etc handy and good bakery. We walked a lot, a local small green bus 1A picked up on the same St as Hotel, ($4.60 ea to Central).

Negative was I thought the reception staff could have been more helpful, friendlier and freely giving out local knowledge and information. Bus and train timetables would have been nice.

If you don't mind walking the big hill after a day out this Hotel would be fine, it's nice to look at the city from a distance and not be in the heart of it.

Room Tip: Room 1811 looked over city and gardens,if you don't mind 2 single beds which were firm but comfy...

Room is small but quite comfortable since we didn't spend too much time in it. Fine bed & bathroom. Buffet breakfast was average. Professional & courteous reception staff. Convenient super market round the corner. 10 to 15 minutes pleasant walking distance (downhill) to the Central district, the pricey shopping area of Hong Kong & some the best night life, pubs & restaurants. Buses & subway connections from Central. The Peak tram station is close by. Botanical gardens are also near by.The walk back (uphill) can be a bit hard. The rate is high but that is the level in Hong Kong.

This rated as a fair deal as the room size was surprisingly good.
Buses can be caught to Central MTR a few metres from the hotel. You can walk down but it is very steep up!
Don't miss a free visit to the aviary in pretty Hong Kong Park nearby.
Note - there is nothing much around the hotel except for a supermarket and a couple of restaurants so if you want to be in the thick of things don't stay here.
Also if you want to stay connected, no free wifi in the rooms is a big disadvantage.

Visited in May as a family with 2 young teenage boys to follow the British Lions. Overall the hotel was ok, if a little pricey for what you get. On arrival, we were allocated rooms on different floors even though we had asked for adjacent rooms. We were then asked to pay an upgrade to be moved to a different floor where we could be together but, after some discussion!, we were moved without a cost until we came to check out where we had to again remind them that they'd accepted we shouldn't.

That done, we had a couple of great rooms with a great view out towards the harbour. Getting around is easy and a taxi up the hill is well worth the few dollars. The supermarket next door and the park (with animals)across the road are added bonuses if you have kids!
