“Essential Hong Kong experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014 via mobile

A typical Asian market full of stalls hawkers and everything is negotiable. Go there to have fun debating prices with the locals but don't take yourself too seriously as it is pure entertainment. What makes this market different is the food. We has spicy prawns and asian greens with a good dose of local beer..all great tasting and excellent value. Don'be afaid to talk to the locals sitting next to you. They will redily help you choose from the menu with a smile.

“Good seafood here”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

Temple Street Night Market is a shade better than Ladies' Market in that it is cleaner and more organized. The goods on sale are about the same as in Ladies' Market except here there are a number of fortune tellers as well as shops selling wooden figurines and also sex toys, and it came as no surprise as this area was said to be a red light district some years ago and there are still some remnants plying the trade today, as observed.

The one thing that saves this night market is the presence of numerous seafood outlets occupying the corner units of most blocks and doing brisk business. Judging by the size of the crowds of diners in these shops, it would be safe to say that many people must have found the food and the price good.

For bargain hunters of imitation goods, you could easily spend a couple of hours browsing the items on sale here. For the non-shoppers, then I guess the seafood restaurants would be a good place to wait and have some chilled beers as the beers are cheap too.

“Go see”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

As a place to see, go for it, a place where you will find bargains? No likely, wondered around the market, mostly brik and brack and nik naks, that I see back home and don't buy, would not travel long windedly to buy here.
But what was interesting was whilst I was there, I witnessed the police swoop in and seize this man's fake xxx rated dvd's in the thousands.
And there are the local clientele,I mean the ones, that are employed in the oldest profession..... Yes... They are there ! And it is entertaining for me anyway ....

“Bargains galore”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

This market is bigger than you first think, it stretches many blocks down. Be prepared to haggle with the stall holders! The food here was fantastic and cheap as well as the beers. At the start of the markets are rows of fortune tellers but the further you go in the more stalls there are to explore. The clothes are mostly small sized, so if you are larger you may have trouble finding your size.

“Not what it used to be”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

A trip to the Temple Street Night Market used to be a must for a visitor to Hong Kong. The market today is a pale shadow of its former self. It is sanitised and boring. Once a haven for "copy or knock-off" merchandise of all types it is now just a place to buy cheap tee shirts and iPhone cases. I suppose it is a sign of the times but as a long time visitor to Hong Kong, I find it disappointing.
