“Worth givig it a try!”
Reviewed 4 August 2010

We picked it up following the advice of Trip advisor! We didn't regret! The hotel is located in the hustle and bustle of Kowloon. Location is great , one block away from the main avenue in Hong Kong, Nathan Road, one of the most vibrant areas in the city. At first glance, it is not on a nice street, but it so near everything! Good value (in relation to Hong Kong hotel prices). Very simple but very functional. Very quick and efficient at checking in and out. The hotel is also very near Temple street market which is worth a visit! We used the bus service to the Airport that Evergreen recommend and this was excellent and much cheaper than a taxi! The hotel is easy to find and the staff were very friendly & welcoming & spoke very good English, something not very common in China, luckily somewhat different in Hong Kong! Rooms are basic but clean & have tea/ coffee making facilities. Breakfast was included & there was a good range of food to choose from. There are also good inexpensive restaurants near the hotel where you can try Indian and Cantonese food as well as a 7/11 store. We had some weird non-western foods! Internet and printing are free! The internet room is well equipped, with webcams, Skype phones, memory card readers! Despite the noisy location it was pretty quiet. We booked via their own website and had no problem at all! Overall a very good budget hotel which I would use again and recommend to anyone!. Top marks! Great deal for the price!

This is an unusual hotel. Rooms are very small and the Hotel mainly has Chinese guests.

There are many positive features - good value (in relation to Hong Kong hotel prices), tthe air conditioning in our room was fantastic (in full summer) the bed was comfortable and the free internet (and printing) was really useful. The hotel is very near Temple street market which was good. Close to Jordan MTR.

I suggest you eat at the Temple Street Spicy Crab. This is very popular and is towards the south end of the Temple Street market. It has tables in the street, really nice Chinese seafood at a very good price.

We used the bus service to the Airport that Evergreen recommend and this was excellent.

If you are looking for an upmarket 'chain' hotel I would not recommend the Evergreen but it suited me very well.

We stayed in this hotel for a 2 night stopover on the way home to New Zealand from Europe. It was easy to find - we took the city bus 21A from the airport - great if you don't have too much luggage. The staff were very friendly & welcoming & spoke very good English. Rooms were basic but clean & had tea/ coffee making facilities. Beds perhaps a little firm. Breakfast was included & there was a good range of food to choose from - we found we didn't need lunch as it kept us going all day. Enjoyed having the free internet access as we had found internet in Europe very hard to find. Location was convenient - close to the Temple St Night Market & Nathan Road so you could walk everywhere. Overall a good budget hotel which I would use again.

Like all Hong Kong hotels, our room was very small, but the facilities were good and the staff very helpful. Breakfast was great and the atmosphere calm and relaxed, which made it quite exciting to step out into the street and find the blast of Kowloon light and activity right on our doorstep.

We were so glad to have chosen Evergreen. Location is terrific. Surrounding the hotel are very good cafes and dessert stalls and it is beside temple street. We did not even notice any ladies soliciting mentioned by many forumers. Less than 5min walk to Jordan MTR.

Having read of many posts saying HK hotel rooms are very small, sardine-packed, we don't have much expectations. But Evergreen surprise us, there are enough walking spaces and luggages can be opened fully. The toilet is not too small either. Only that the shower is a bit cramp. Basin is big enough to put toiletries.

Seeing that many hotels don't offer breakfast, it is actually a plus point for Evergreen to offer it free. Since it is free, don't expect much. I am not so picky with food so I am contented with plain porridge with a few hot dogs in it. Cornflakes and toast bread are not bad either. If you are planning to go out early in the morning, breakfast in hotel actually saves you alot of time, rather than go find cafe/restaurants that will probably waste 1hr of your sightseeing day.

The counter staff are not so friendly though. No smiles at all. And they wasted quite abit of time during check out, fumbling on the calculations of room rates, which I think could have done earlier.

Overall, satisfied with the hotel but not the staff.

My brother was staying there for two nights after our holiday in Malaysia. He chose it because of the reviews here on TripAdvisor.
The room #613 has all you can ask for in this price category. The room and linen were clean, there was no bad smell, just a slight stench in the wooden closet. Ok the bed was a bit hard, but that's normal for HK and China.
Despite the noisy location it was pretty quiet. Biggest surprise was that the breakfast was very good with a bigger variety to choose from than expected. If staying longer the breakfast needed some change, but for 2 nights absolutely OK.
Of course Jordan/Yau Ma Tei is not a very good location to stay but for getting around it is.

Tipp:
Buy refreshments and snacks in the adjacent 7/11 or better in the nearby Wellcome supermaket.
Going to the Airport: Catch the AirportBus in Jordan Road, take A22 (HKD 40) or E23 (HKD 14) they pass by every 15 to 20 minutes during daytime. There is even night service.
Coming from the Airport it's the first stop in the city after the toll gate and tunnel. But you should be acquainted with the area to find the hotel.

I stayed for 6 nights. Right next door is a 7-11 and a restaurant that is clean and cool. I found the staff extremely courteous. The rooms were cleaned well every day. There is a small fridge in which you can put a few canned drinks or use the ones they sell. There is also a hot water maker to use for drinking the free tea provided.A free razor and toothbrush are also provided. The location is great an the internet on the second floor provides 5-6 computers free. Yes, there are ladies of the night in the vicinity. None bothered me, or tried to solicit. I have stayed at several 4 star hotels in Hong Kong and there too were well dressed ladies of the night who would proposition you every day.
