The stay started off good at a corner room. Good seaview. Decent hardware.
But then there are a number of issues
1) staff needed massive training: at the pool side, the lifeguards are arguing and complaining with each other. The discussion was that one lifeguard disappeared before 6 and left two other lifeguards hanging. The other two life guards complained that the one that left early forced a lifeguard to mend a stand without an umbrella on a toasty day
2) zoo at the pool and major hazard zone: when i was going for my swim, it was like a zoo at the pool. A male teaching a girl to swim, 4 girls at floaties floating in the middle of the pool, a girl swimming zig zag, a dad playing water pistols with his son. but more important is to note that there is major water spilling over from the pool to the lounge chairs. When an attendant from the gym askes the lifeguard, let's spread the water out to the side. The lifeguard was like this is no use anyways. So all the staff didn't do anything.
3) food never came at midnight: i ordered a beef noodle soup. Over 45mins elapsed, no call. Nothing. Then when i called, i found out that the noodle has not even started cooking yet.
4) nightmare at checkout: wife and i booked the stay on travelzoo. We gave the receptionist a full receipt upon checking in. Then at check out, there is a supervisor named suzanne who was being very rude and demanded that we gave her a receipt with a barcode. I asked why didnt your staff asked us during our 3 days stay and why she needed 3 mins before departing on a bus. Then she said she needed to keep our deposit 1500 hostage. Under no policy, did she or hotel state requiring such a thing.

We were picked up by the hotel bus at Tsimshatsui East station. The bus is prompt and provides an excellent free service. The check in was quick and efficient, however minimal information was given at check in compared to other hotels. The room was lovely, we booked a sea view and on reflection I would not stay in any other room in this hotel. We chose not to have breakfast at the hotel instead bought groceries from the local supermarket and made use of the empty fridge provided. The pool area is lovely and set with sea and mountain views is perfect for a relax. We had a cocktail in the hotel bar, the service was slow and due to it being quiet at the time found it puzzling why it took so long to bring drinks and then provide the bill on leaving. Overall a great stay mainly due to the setting of the hotel.

Lovely, relaxing and family friendly resort. Staff are helpful and friendly.

We had a bed mix up, got an adult bed instead of a baby cot but staff were able to rectify promptly.

Rooms are neat, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is roomy and the bath was great!

Big pool with lots of sun but it does get busy with many children. Had a great time and we look forward to returning to Auberge sometime soon.

I visited friends who live in Discovery Bay, and through them, I discovered Auberge. Thanks to Adam at the front desk, I was booked into a room with a view of the water and Hong Kong itself. The room offered every imaginable comfort, including an amazing combination shower/bath/spa is the huge bathroom. Towels were fluffy, sheets were soft, and even the slippers and tea were beyond reproach. Buffet breakfast literally offered something for everyone, and every dish was perfection. This is a new hotel, and they are doing everything right. Good value for money, a warm and capable staff, and ideal location.

Room Tip: Corner rooms offer a spectacular view

We recently stayed two nights at the Auberge. What a fabulous relaxing property which succeeds in leaving the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong behind.

We will be back again for a couple of days. Why hadn't we discovered it sooner??

Our room had everything that you would wish for (iron, hair dryer, umbrella, good air con and lighting) including a water view, although the reception staff pointed out it did not have a bath?? Well IF you need a bath you'll be disappointed. BUT if you enjoy a fantastic rain shower in a large cubicle with a water view, you'll be ecstatic!!

This property is still very fresh but all the staff are trying hard to ensure that you enjoy your stay. We found the service staff in the bar, which looks straight up the harbour to Central, particuilarly good. I have not enjoyed a better mojito, thanks!!

Breakfast was adequate with all tastes catered for. We also ate at the buffet one evening and although fully priced we enjoyed the offering, in particular the sweet table which was outstanding in its choices.

The pool deck is adequate although can be a little noisy on weekends and the property has a gym, which appeared well resourced, and the Spa.

For visitors, Discovery Bay is a (painless) 20/30 minute ferry ride from Central Pier and the property is a little way from the Pier. Off the ferry, you arrive into a busy shopping and restaurant strip adjacent to which is the bus terminal. To travel to Auberge you either wait for the hotel shuttle or take the C4 bus which stops almost at the front door. We used both and found them painless.

This restaurant/bar area near the ferry pier was fairly buzzing on Sunday evening and we enjoyed great food, wine and service with a water view at Daks.

Other off property options (indian, pizza and italian) are adjacent to the hotel in a mall.

Thanks to Auberge for a relaxing couple of days!!

The Hotel
Absolutely stunning and the most spotless hotel you are likely to visit. The rooms were equipped with good quality iron and ironing board and a large good quality hair dryer along with tea and coffee making facilities and TV and not forgetting Air Con. The showers and bathroom had a double sink with a stunning view over the water. Exquisitely decorated. They had made a mistake with our room but immediately rectified it. (They forgot the childs bed). There is a good sized swimming pool that will be packed in the morning but from 12pm onwards it will be really quiet because as usual we are the only ones mad enough to be out in the midday sun. There is also a fully equipped gym. Surrounding the hotel are a number of shops and a couple of restaurants and we actually went to one for breakfast thinking it would be cheaper than the hotel but actually it worked out the same price. Our HK friends gave us a good tip. If you need answers to a question the girls are usually better at english than the boys so ask a girl. although to be fair the guys were ok too.

Food
Breakfast was not included and it was about £12 each (£36) for our family which is alot but actually it reflects the cost of living in Hong Kong. We have friends in HK who said that the price is about right. The breakfast buffet was a mix of European and Asian food. We had cereal followed by bacon, egg and beans and potato hash, with bigs mugs of tea or coffee and fresh orange, apple and mango juice also a toaster and jams etc. There is also a large assortment of cold meats and fresh fruits including mango, pineapple, water melon and honeydew melon. Evening meals are really expensive £82.00 for the three of us so we did it just the once and if you have children they will love it. There are tiny exquisite cakes and puddings, the likes of which I have never seen. There were big bowls of sweets and marshmallows and a chocolate fountain. etc.

Transport Links
Discovery bay does not allow cars or other vehicles except for Busses. The Auberge Hotel runs a shuttle service throughout the day but to be honest we didnt use it much. just around the corner from the hotel you will see a selection of bus shelters. There you will find a FS bus Free Service which runs every half hour and another service C4, C6 or C9 which runs every 10 mins at a rough cost of 0.90p per person. Ask at the hotel and they will provide bus timetables which we found very useful. The Auberge also runs a Free Shuttle service to Disneyland but not very often. We caught the Shuttle bus there but made our own way back on the train. HK is extremely westernised all road signs and bus services are in english. We found it all very straight forward. You could very easily catch a bus to the Pier for 90p. There you will find a large range of restaurants to suit all appetites we had a lovely meal there (although the portions were on the large size) again quite expensive. Waiting at the bus shelters there are alot of english speaking Americans and Aussies etc who can advise on the bus service and places to go etc. It was passed midnight one night so we were worried we might be stranded and had to walk back but actually the busses were still running and there was no waiting. We NEVER waited more than 10 minutes for a bus. The most expensive bus ride was the airport shuttle bus (not connected to the auberge) which catered for the whole of discovery bay and that journey costed £3. It runs hourly on the "Quarter To" from HK Airport so for us it was just 20 minute wait. Most Days we travelled to Tung Chung which was good for shopping and at the centre of everything such as a large bus station covering journeys everywhere. Also from Tun Chung you can view the 8pm light show and catch a cable car to visit the big buddha. Within a couple of days we felt like locals we could get anywhere.

Throughout our whole holiday we had nothing to complain about. It was the most enjoyable holiday we have had with some stunning views to be seen.

TIP: at HK airport purchase an Octopus Card for all the family. You put money on them and swipe them on every bus journey you use. You can even use them at Macdonalds as well. You will find loads of places to add more money on to the cards when they get low and any unused money can be refunded from HK airport upon leaving.

Shopping
Before you go you should be aware that the cost of living in HK is extremely high. In other words nothing is cheap and certainly not cheaper than home (UK) There are loads of retail outlets etc but to be honest if you are from the UK forget it. You will get them 20% cheaper at home. The outlet stores are crammed with Mainland Chinese people who do not have designer brands available to them. Stanley Market is a must for all you bargain hunters I bought some lovely pashminas for £3 each and although Its primarily an outdoor market its all air conned so we found it lovely and there are some stunning views in the surrounding areas so make sure to take the camera.

Disneyland
We used the free shuttle service from the hotel which got us there at 10:30 and we left after the 3:30 parade. We followed advice from other visitors and went on a weekday. Check out Chinese holidays etc because the advice seems to be that during Chinese Mainland Holidays the park may possibly be crammed. We didnt queue more than 30 mins and our daughter had a great time. Again the merchandise in the shops is cheaper at home than in the store. It is only a small disneyland so if you really try you could do it in a day and get it over and done with. The heat is a killer but there are lots of shaded areas, fans and even some queues with AC except Toy Story Land which had no shade or cover from the sun we took one look and decided not to go.

Room Tip: Worth paying for a sea view.
