“bad service, small rooms, average cleanliness, OK location”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

frankly im not happy at all with this hotel. i booked it off booking.com and its the first time i had a hotel at booking.com which deducted the hotel fee for a confirmation. when i called to check, they said the hotel had a disclaimer which said they could. this caused a confusion upon check out. they charged us again, then realised they had actually deducted the fee, they voided the transaction done at check out, then realised that it was actually a reservation confirmation but not the hotel charge fee and they had to re-do the payment. confusing? even their own staff was confused! this is really a crappy process.
The counter staff are really rude. I think this is what you get for like 3 star hotel.
there are 3 lifts, i think, but they are slow and the buttons in each lift have different positions so its confusing again when you pop into the lift and you are searching up & down for the floor number. the rooms are ultra small. we had a twin room but we had to open our luggages on the bed. when my friend walked around the room, I had to sit on the bed and vice versa.
the toilet, badly designed. the ledge to prevent water from flowing out is so low, its not so effective and the air channel keeps blowing the shower curtain onto you when you shower, how can one be clean this way with a dirty shower curtain constantly sticking onto you? the space is so cramped you can hardly turn around in there. And Im average bullt non-plus-sized girl. the sink being outside the toilet is also not so handy. in general design is flawed. The whole hotel decor is like a KTV. I dont get it. It feels like :trying too hard to be classy when its not.
The WIFI is also very slow and not so effective.
i found the beds too hard and the pillows too low. didnt like this place. I did not sleep well.
location is not bad, 5min to Jordan MTR, walking distance (20min) to the pier for Star Ferry and you can walk to Nathan Road for lots of shops & eateries in 2 min. There's a supermarket, 7-11 downstairs which is convenient for snacks.
If only they had better service, better rooms and design. This would have been a great hotel but alas, it was not. I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: nothing to say, high floor?

Interesting how they fit everything in a small room like that. theys sure spent some time in designing everything as convenient as possible with the space given, BUT...

when I pay 129€ per night, I need a bit more than a room with just a bed, sink not even fit in the bathroom, and a toilet squeezed in between two walls.
Thing is, I'm on business trip for about a month... that means I have some luggage to store. hard when there is no closet...
I also have some administration to do once in a while... also hard when you don't even have a small desk to put your computer on.

I noticed immediately that that was not going to work, so went back down for another, bigger room...
nothing available at that night, but I got the upgrade for the two other nights.

the upgraded room was just another small room, but with just enough space to fit the computer and bags/clothes, so that was OK...

What was not OK wat the price for the upgrade... I had to cough up an additional 55€, totalling my stay night per night over 180€/night...

for that price, Best Western? nah, wouldn't think so... Next hong kong visit, I'll be staying at emperor kowloon again... great and spacious room there for less money!

I stayed here for one night....if like me you go to Hong Kong to explore, shop and wine & dine then this hotel is a good choice. The room is small but clean and comfortable. There was a queue for check in and the wifi was down for a while in the morning.....but it was a good price. I would stay again....the location not too bad, at the bottom of Kimberly road connecting to Nathan road (10 mins walk).

In short, this hotel has a great centralised location, and thats about it. Can't really say much about the hotel standard as rooms were a bit small for the price offered. You pay for the location only.

Besides having small rooms, toilet was also small (that the sink has to be outside the toilet, by the door), rooms did not have heater during winter, one flat pillow for each bed (unsure if more could be provided, did not ask).

Service was alright though, service staff spoke good english/mandarin/canto, wifi signal was strong, hotel was generally clean. This hotel is just minutes away from most touristy areas (nearest MTR is Jordan).

Great hotel to save on transport time (get an octopus card), but not for budget travellers.

A great affordable restaurant nearby is Yuen Kee Restaurant (few seconds away, exit hotel lowest floor lobby turn right). Good for breakfast/lunch/dinner.

Checked in for 2 rooms for 3 nights. Rooms were so small that you cannot move about. Called housekeeping for extra pillows, they gave us towels instead and said that they ran out of pillows. Temperature control of air on was not working. Bathroom so small you can't even get a decent bath. 2nd night asked for extra pillows again , this time they gave us extra bed sheet yo use as pillows, geesh, they ran out of pillows again ? Bad bad hotel

We have travelled nearly all over the world. Sometimes in best western hotels which we found great. We have never stayed in an hotel like this. Looks nice enough in lobby etc. but on entering the bedroom that was something else!!!! Small was not the word. I could have cried.no where to hang clothes and two people could not pass each other. Might just as well not have a bathroom it was soooooooo small. There was about 2 inches either side of the toilet with the toilet roll holder behind your head!!! I could go on and on. The beds were like sleeping on blocks of wood with a duvet the size of a napkin. We found, the next morning, that my husbands sheet wasn't clean. Yuk? Paid for breakfast, wish we hadn't, because it was horrible and left all of it. Thank goodness we were there for 1 night only. Never ever again.

Room Tip: Don't think there are any good rooms

is literally mini. closet? dont think about putting a coat. it wont fit! bed? quite hard. worst? when i checkd it the fire alrm went on. and it did again in the middle
of the nite. not even an apology from the manager. everyone came out of the hallway, waiting. read the reviews people. i cant suggest this place, there are other hotels near this area that are affordable.
