I have stayed in many hotels in the Wanchai, Central, Causeway Bay, Happy Valley area over the years and I would say that overall the Cosmopoliton offers the best value hotel in the area. I have around 5 hotels that I stay in and scout the prices of each when booking a trip and usually book the cheapest. Having said that, since staying at the Cosmopoliton this is now my 1st choice as long as its no more than HK$200 more than my other regulars.
The rooms I have had have been spacious compared with other hotels of similar price. Clean and well apointed. The staff have been helpful whilst not over-the-top and the location is very handy. The shuttle services offered also are great when its raining.

My wife and I stayed at the Cosmopolitan for 2 nights in January on the way back from Australia. To say we were disappointed with Hong Kong and the hotel is a bit of an understatement.
Firstly it took about 40 minutes to get there from the airport.
The room was tiny with hardly enough room for our 2 cases let alone the possibility of swinging a cat!!
Upon check in we were asked if we would like to upgrade our room as the one we were allocated was at the back of the hotel and for a small charge we could get one with a view! What a rip off! We stuck to the room we were allocated as we had already paid for a superior double. Superior............as I said previously it was tiny.
That said it was clean and the bathroom was nice (but about as big as the bedroom itself).
We were on the 11th floor and the window was frosted with no vew at all.
It was a 10 minute walk to Times Square shopping arcade from the hotel and you could get a courtesy bus to other points around the city but be warned if you haven't made a will it would be a good idea as the driving round Hong Kong is a little erratic to say the least!
I had read previous reviews about how friendly and helpful the staff were and so I was hopeful that they would provide us with help and advice about what to see and do but they were not friendly or helpful and as a consequence we found very little to see or do in Hong Kong other than wandering round expensive shops and watching the light and laser display at 8pm nightly at the harbour.
It may be due to exchange rates at the moment but we also found everything very expensive and the so called "capital of shopping" was a lot more expensive than shopping in the UK. The drinks at the hotel were a complete rip off and were not much cheaper in other areas of Hong Kong.
Overall I would not really recommend the hotel.

Thank you for your valuable comments. To suit different travellers' needs, we offer various room types vary in size and view and these information are listed in our hotel website so that guests can make an informed accommodation choice at the time of booking. And as mentioned in your comment, a room upgrade at a “small supplement” including free buffet breakfast and Internet access was also presented as an option for your stay.

Our hotel is centrally located in the Causeway Bay city centre. Since the airport is situated in the outskirt of Lantau Island, it will take around 40 minutes to travel to the hotel and this is common to all hotels on the Hong Kong island.

For guest’s convenience, we offer free shuttle bus to Times Square on frequent schedule. For guests who enjoy the leisure of walk, Times Square is reachable within a 10-min stroll and a detailed walking map is available in the guest room as well as the Concierge counter.

As mentioned in your review staff at Cosmopolitan are complimented for their friendliness and helpfulness. That said we’ll ensure service be always maintained consistently at a very top standard.

About pricing of drinks, our beverages are priced in-line with that of major 4-star hotels in Hong Kong. We anyway thank you for your comments which will be helpful when we next review our price list.

First trip to Hong Kong, booked hotel last minute on day of travel, by calling the hotel directly. The lady who answered the overseas call was competent and very helpful. Gave us excellent directions to hotel from airport by train, then hotel shuttle. No problems whatsoever.

Hotel was exactly like how it looked on website pictures, a bit on the small side though, modern, functional, and extremely clean. Room was well appointed, again super clean! (Beds were a bit hard). To avoid street noise, we requested a room on a higher floor and they honored our request.

The hotel has a free shuttle service to a few stops in the city which was very helpful. My daughter and I used the subway throughout our 6 day stay from Causeway Bay station, where there's a mall and lots of places to eat.

Avoid the hotel's restaurant, it's expensive and food is terrible. Other than that, no other complaints!

We loved Cosmopolitan, would definitely stay there again.

We stayed there for 4 nights back in July 08 - the staffs were excellent, the room was spacious. Excellent location, minutes away from causeway bay mall & train station.
Free shuttle bus to times square and central are frequent.

Definitely going back there next time we go to Hong Kong.

We were extremely happy during our stay at Cosmopolitan.

For my first trip to Hongkong with my mother, i chose Cosmopolitan Hotel in Wan Chai. I was so happy that i made the right choice! The hotel's staff did not disappoint in extending accurate, fast and friendly service during our stay. They attended to our every need.

The hotel had a good location, it was walking distance from Times Square where the Causeway MTR station was located. If walking was not preferred, the hotel provided a free shuttle service to and from different points (Causeway, Admiralty, Central, etc.) which made going around the city easier and faster.

The hotel lobby was very welcoming and bright. Our room was just right for our needs. The room and bathroom were clean. So were the towels and beddings. There were complimentary bottles of water daily. The hotel safe was bigger than usual.

On my next visit, i will definitely stay at Cosmopolitan Hotel to be assured of the best service.

Booked this at the last minute when our plans to go to Thailand fell through, and it is EXACTLY as it looks on the website. Clean, tidy, functional. The restaurant is fantastic - big picture windows looking up to Times Square. Huge breakfast buffet with everything you didn't even know you wanted for breakfast!

The beds are supremely comfortable, the bathrooms clean and the staff is superb. Nothing is to omuch trouble - be sure to pick up a few cards to show to taxi drivers, although in truth it is a fascinating 5-10 minute stroll to Times Square and the metro.

We stayed here for 3 nights and while the rooms were smaller than we were used to it was actually a wonderful stay. The hotel has a great buffett breakfast and provides free shuttles into Times Square etc. Rooms are well airconditioned and the hotel staff were lovely. Internet is available in the foyer in the business centre. The gym - well its got 2 machines and some weights but its basically 2 hotel rooms put together. A local family friend told us that it used to be the 'unofficial' Chinese consulate when Hong Kong was under British rule so the building is generally well looked after. Its right over the road from the tram (which we highly recommend - it only costs $2 HKD) and takes you most central places. Make sure you ask for a Causeway Bay view (which is the view of the suburb not the actual Bay!) though because other reviews I read said that if you don't, you may end up facing the cemetary which is behind the hotel! I was a bit concerned about booking here after reading some reviews but honestly don't be. The Hong Kong standard of customer care in hotels is generally pretty high, which means the hotel staff are keen to look after you.
