“Great Hotel for the Money”
Reviewed 2 May 2009

I stayed here for four nights in April 2009. Very reasonable rates with complimentary full breakfast. Intimate lobby with restaurant and bar. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are clean and spacious with stall shower and excellent view of Causeway Bay area and Happy Valley Racetrack. The mattress was somewhat hard, however. Decent location, only a mile and one-half or so from Central Hong Kong. Within walking distance to Times Square metro station. Hotel provides free shuttle service to and from Times Square every 20 minutes or so and hourly service to and from Central Hong Kong during the day and early evening. My only complaint was the hardness of the bed. Overall, however, the hotel represents a very good value.

I have just returned from a trip to Macau and Hong Kong and had stayed in Cosmopolitan Hotel in Hong Kong for a short weekend. My stay there was a delightful one.
I’ve been to Hong Kong many times for business and leisure and used to stay on HK Island where most of the hotels are pricier than average. So when my family and I arrived at Cosmopolitan Hotel, we were thrilled on our choice as it was really value for money. This was my first trip bringing my whole family and knowing that the rooms in HK are relatively small, I was preparing to pay for an upgrade, however, when we arrived at the room, we found that it has two Queen sized beds that can accommodate my wife and I, plus our 2 children. My wife was really pleased with my arrangements as it eases her mind having our two girls sleeping beside us.
There is really nothing I can fault the hotel. The Hotel lobby is bright (gets very nice natural sunlight), warm and refreshing with very well kept interiors (actually the Hotel is still considered as one of the newer ones) and the room is comfy, clean and tidy (very important for us!). Staff in Cosmopolitan Hotel was wonderful compared to the hotel I stayed in Macau. When I asked for directions, the receptionist and bell staff were most helpful. These small gestures really make my day.
Despite some comments that I've read before saying that the hotel is not next to the MTR, they actually provide frequent shuttles round the clock to the MTR station and most of the major shopping malls on HK Island. I really appreciate this service as there are many hotels that claim to be situated at the major shopping districts/MTR but actually you have to walk at least 20 mins to get to the station!
The facilities in the hotel is an added plus as they provide wireless broadband for the whole building and it is free of charge when you use it in the lobby - definitely not the case for many other hotels. For those who like to workout, there is also a gym room with practically all you need for exercising. The Cosmopolitan Hotel is definitely a gem of a find on HK Island and there is no doubt it will be my choice again when I next visit HK.

The view from our room was fantastic - overlooking Happy Valley racecourse. I could have stared out there for hours.
It's on quite a busy road, but we didn't have any problems with noise. We found it quite easy to get cabs too.
The room was fairly small, but it was chic, modern and clean. I think fairly recently renovated.
Staff were very helpful - we needed some packaging for some purchases and they were quick to sort us some out.
I would highly recommend. I stayed in a total of 3 hotels (excelsior, novotel and this one) and this was the best and in fact, the cheapest.

Stayed at the Cosmopoitan for 3 nights after 2.5 weeks in Australia. Bit of a culture shock as the room had 3 tiny single beds pushed together (3 pals) but the value for money couldn't be faulted. We had a room overlooking the Happy Valley Racecourse and watched the race live from our room AND on the tele at the same time! We did, however, find it very cold as the air conditioning overall was too high. The daily complimentary water was great and the breakfasts were superb (included in our price). The chef would make your eggs as you wanted them on the spot AND your waffles. It also had a good selection of western and asian food to suit all palates. I would recommend it as its not too far from the hustle and bustle, the shuttle bus is great but taxis are for nothing anyway and the staff were superb - very knowledgable and very helpful.

Stayed here for the HK 7's weekend, to be honest I didn't really get to see much of the hotels amenities, room service was good if a little slow.
Hotel located on a busy intersection opposite the Happy Valley Race Course, so i guess if your in HK for the racing this would be an ideal choice.
Rooms by normal hotel standards were on the small side but very clean and modern.
For the money you pay I guess you could do worse in HK.

We initially had reserved a standard room, which turned out to be very small. We upgraded to an Executive room, including breakfast, which overall was a much better deal, though almost doubled the price. Hotel buffet breakfast adequate if not memorable. Considering the location on a busy road junction the hotel was reasonably quiet. Executive room also had free access to the Internet, with a PC in the room.

Hotel location just OK with all of the island facilities and Star ferry walkable in 20/30 minutes.

Staff friendly and helpful, but as in a lot of hotels somewhat chaotic at times.
