Zafran, which is ideally located on the lively and atmospheric Wyndham Street offers a distinct multi-faceted vibe with its well designed and decorated basement. Its impressive size offers the best arrangements for private dinners, dinner parties, events up to 400 people and the use of its private dining room up to 20 people. Admittedly, I was reluctant to walk down the stairs into a subterranean undercroft, when there are restaurants that offer a perfect view, but more to that in another review. Zafran was their name, tapas is their game. And hey, it will certainly lead to their fame. Starting with an perfectly aged pata negra Iberico and some tomate bread, followed by a mouthwatering Galicean Octopus, I knew from the beginning, that 4-5 orders wouldn't be the end of it. A challenge can be the cheekies (Ox Cheeks), which I had experienced too overcooked, sometimes cold, oversalted - but not here, soft and succulent, calling for a second round :-)
The chorizo sausages spiced the taste buds to prepare for the lamb rack. All tapas come nicely garnished with perfectly prepared garden greens, potato puree and delicious reductions.
Now, don't forget to leave a space for the desserts.... the luscious chocolate brownie is not to be missed !

This is one of my favorite restaurant in HK. This tapas bar serves excellent food but the price tag is not cheap. We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and were all amazed by its food. You have to try all the special since they are in small portion. The wine selection is not so great but it's still very good. We end of spent slight over 3K HK$ with 2 bottles of wine and lots of food. Everyone was super happy with the food, service and drinks. This place gets very popular at night. After 10pm, outside area becomes bar and it's an awesome place to hang out with friends too. Inside area turned to private party just right after we left and would be a good spot for large group. If you are looking for tapas with good dining environment, this is a good place to visit!!

Visited for our last meal in HK. It was our daughters birthday and there was no problem with the surprise cake!
Surroundings are modern and stylish, food served on interesting "platters". The chef is cooking upfront where all can see, and his food was mouthwateringly delicious. The suckling pig was sublime, I especially enjoyed the tuna served slightly seared around the edge but basically raw. All the dishes were great, to drink there was a concise wine list, but jugs of prosecco sangria went down well at our table in a city with so many diverse eateries I would strongly recommend Zafran.

Another Tapas bar in Hong Kong. Usually that means high prices for mains smaller than starters. That was the last thing I wanted on a Monday night. My fellow diners had severe jet lag so in no mood for anything except a good meal. However I was very surprised.
The food was more than good. Think of traditional and contemporary tapas fused together and you'll get the idea. And really well executed. If you like traditional real Spanish tapas you’ll love their offering. Then maybe add in a few of their own takes on tapas to mix things up. All are good and there nothing to dislike about the food at all.

I hate sharing menus when there is never enough to share for the number of people dining together. Zafran obviously hates that to as we got enough of each dish for everyone in our group to try everything.

The venue is bigger than it seems from the outside but still manages a very intimate feel. Toilets are really hard to find, so go before you start drinking! Service was unobtrusive but attentive. I hate over personal waiters but being ignored is even worse. Here the balance seemed just about right. We let the guy who seemed to be the manager choose our food. This was so much better than choosing for ourselves and having to read menus. We just wanted to chat and catch up and couldn't be bothered reading menus tonight. But we ended up with a night of food you'd never order yourself but thoroughly enjoy. Mondays in this part of Hong Kong aren't as quiet as you would expect. However this place was quiet which was a shame as it's certainly worth a visit and punches above its weight in a very saturated tapas cuisine culture that’s is Hong Kong's restaurant world. I'm going back, but later in the week next time.

This tapas/Spanish bar in the basement on Wyndham street has a very nice feel about it. There is a dining room with tables or you can sit at the bar and watch the action in the kitchen. watching the chef and being able to interact and ask questions was great. Seeing the precision that goes into creating every dish was very entertaining. We had an amazing selection and everything was presented beautifully. Trying to recommend specific dishes from the menu and even our order would be impossible - so I'd just recommend giving this place a try and see for yourself.
There was a birthday party going on the evening we were there which created a really lively buzz. In the evenings there is a DJ.
