On our last business trip to China, I had a 2 day layover in HK. Stayed at the Butterfly on Victoria in Tin Hau, and Zawa Zawa was literally across the street from the hotel, and within steps of the A-1 MTR station exit. We had walked passed it a couple of times during our outings, and finally stopped to eat here after a 5 mile hike from Braemar Hill to Jardines Lookout. I have very little experience with Sushi/Sashimi or Japanese Grill - but my business travel partner Dave has a LOT of experience. Dave saw the menu and began to order. Said I'd like everything. I did. Had a little grilled beef filet, and a variety of Sashimi. Every taste was beyond good. Great Beer selection too.
But what made the visit more special was the attentiveness of the waitstaff. The woman waiting on us seemed like she could have been the owner, as I saw her walk outside to the front of the restaurant to discuss some design or new construction for the front of the building. She spoke English perfectly, and she kept coming up with some extras like a frozen moochi sorbet. So good.
We had come in just before 2pm, so it's possible because it was so quiet we received extra attention, but perhaps she is always this friendly to everyone at any time. I'll visit Zawa Zawa on every visit to Hong Kong. It's worth it.
