“A great 90's party girl in need of a facelift”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

This hotel was built on the lower floors of an office building in probably the best location for shops, business and seeing the town. The staff once they warm up (or know that you don't need formalities) are a delight. The once uber-contemporary beige interiors, boobie-trapped baths, disco breakfast room , worn furniture with perspiration smells, and unfathomable electric shades in the rooms have seen their day and it's time to renovate! Also pricing policies need to catch up with hotels like the Peninsula that offer free Wi-Fi and unlimited international calls.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room away from the buses and trucks of Queens Rd

From the moment you arrive at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel steps you are transported to a world of elegance and opulence. Stunning rooms with lovely views overlooking Hong Kong Harbour. Fabulous bathroom with every amenity that you would need for a great stay, fluffy white towels and Hermes bath products make you feel pampered. The breakfast was full of fabulous fruit, yogurts and every bread and pastry you could want followed by full English, eggs cooked several ways, Chinese dishes, salads and even soups. Very cosmopolitan and well worth a stay!

This hotel has everything at your fingertips....I cannot fault anything about the service, food, spa, location.
The concierge desk was the best I have ever experienced.
The service was first class.
The location is incredible.....you do not have to leave the landmark and is perfect if you only have a few days and no time to shop around at other locations.
I loved my stay here and cannot wait to come back.

From the moment the genuinely welcoming doorman John greets me (soon you!), I feel completely at home. This hotel wisely skips the fancy, stuffy lobby in favor of understated class and an ultra efficient check in. Front desk staff is switched on even with I check in after midnight or before sunrise. Every room I've ever had here is spotless, ergonomic and always endowed with yummy and indulgent amenities, from the Maison de Chocolat at evening turndown, luscious Sodashi bath products (I started washing my hair back home with this brand after my LMOHK stay) and quite often there is an arrival pot of Chinese tea and some delectable gourmet snacks around cocktail hour.

Breakfast at MO Bar is the best mini-buffet in town, especially the crispy bacon, dim sum and fresh fruit. Oh and I love the extensive tea menu too. Those with a little more money to spend will be quite satisfied at the sublime Amber, the chicest dining room in town and my favorite food too.

But my very favorite way to spend any free time in Hong Kong is in the LMOHK spa, having a mani-pedi in the Bastien Gonzalez studio, any of the unwinding massages or simply in the transformative heat and water area where I just linger in the sauna, under the rain showers and letting the water jets target my jet lag induced stress knots in my lower back. I never miss a 'session' here and as a hotel guest, its free -- the best deal in Hong Kong!

Having lived in Hong Kong for many years, and returned to visit on numerous occasions since, Landmark Mandarin is always our hotel of choice. I think we have stayed at least ten times. Looking forward to the next ten!

The service is always superb and the rooms are "different" (how refreshing!) but have everything you could possibly need and are supremely comfortable.

Landmark Mandarin is streets ahead of its competitors (we know as - rather foolishly, we used to try them sometimes).

The Concierge team are exceptionally good - took great care of 2 octogenarian aunts, even escorting them to their destinations so they did not get lost.

The management keep a tight rein on things and if you raise any sort of slight concern, they are on to it immediately.

The Hotel Manager himself went to a great deal of trouble to help me track down an old friend, mustering support from his team.

The only thing I don't like is the rather beautiful teapots in the MO bar - where a most extensive and fabulous breakfast is served - they pour badly!

The Housekeeping team are especially helpful, carrying out small repairs and returning items so nicely presented, you don't want to wear them ! When I had a query, the charming Housekeeping Manager himself came up to assist me.

The hotel is extremely well situated in the middle of good shopping, easy walking to the best and cheapest journey in the world - the Star Ferry, the Peak, MTR, good restaurants of every cuisine.
Don't stay anywhere else - I recommend it highly for its astounding levels of service and facilities.

In short nothing is too much trouble at this hotel. I am considering moving in permanently (if only !!)

Room Tip: High up - inevitably Hong Kong can be noisy. Ask for a quiet room

My boyfriend booked the hotel as a Christmas present "staycation" in Hong Kong in January 2014 with the Celebrate package. First impressions were excellent with a beautiful lobby tucked away by the entrance to the Landmark building and a friendly member of staff escorting us to our room.

We were very lucky to have been upgraded to a suite which I think was one of the most beautiful hotel rooms I've ever stayed in! The suite had a very modern, elegant bathroom with a large marble round bath and lots of Jo Malone toiletries. The bedroom and living rooms were equally luxurious and we had a his and hers dressing area and a small powder room as well. Shortly after arrival a staff member delivered a delicious chocolate dessert as a welcome gift which was a thoughtful touch.

We had a great afternoon of spa treatments at the hotel in a Sanctuary Suite which I would highly recommend. We also tested out the heat and water experience (steam / sauna / vitality pools etc) the next day which were fun. Breakfast in Amber was also excellent - very relaxed with a wide selection of international breakfast sets available.

The reason why the hotel is so memorable to us is that my boyfriend proposed that evening at a nearby restaurant and after we came back from dinner, he had arranged for the staff to set up the room so we had rose petals, champagne, chocolate strawberries and candles - it was a great effort and really topped the evening off.

I'm hoping we will be back for anniversaries going forward!

Understated elegance. The Landmark Mandarin Oriental is by far one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of staying in. It is hard to describe how tasteful the decor is or how nice the bathroom is. I love the design of the L600 Premier guestroom. Living room on one side, bedroom on the other side, with the bathroom in the center, connecting the living room to the bedroom.

Room Tip: L600 means 600 square feet of floor area. Ditto for L450 and L900.
