My family and I stayed in a Kingdom Club room at the HK Disneyland Hotel this Christmas. It was a great stay which was almost perfect.
My first recommendation is to shell out for a Kingdom Club room if it is in your budget. The ease of checking in (direct straight to the 7th floor club lounge), the exclusivity of the lounge for rest and relaxation and the extra benefits of character visits and getting photographs without having to line up, the great breakfast and evening canapés, and basically all the benefits you get are well worth the extra expense. If it's not within your budget however, I would still recommend staying in the hotel.
The staff are all so helpful and go the extra length to provide quality service. The bell staff were extra helpful as we were traveling with a wheelchair and had quite a big of luggage as we were on the first part of a 10 day trip. Our room was quite far from the lounge area and since we had a mobility challenged person with us, I requested if we could be moved closer. Since it was the holiday season they were full but the staff offered to move all our things the next day when a room nearer the lounge opened up the next day. By that time however, we had settled into our room and since it was only a two day stay we decided to forego this. It was great of them to offer however.
There's a lot of things you can do within the hotel grounds, there's a great maze and garden, there's a pool and if you so desire, you can move to the Disney Hollywood Hotel to hang out in the gardens there as well.
The ease of getting to the park and back with the free shuttle is also a reason to stay in the hotel. It allows you to go early in the morning to avoid long lines and queues, come back in the afternoon to rest up and then back later for fireworks.
The only reason I am not putting a perfect 5 review is because of the shuttle not being wheelchair friendly. My mom had to go up several steps on the bus, there are no reserved seats up front for mobility challenged passengers and so my mom had a hard time boarding the bus. This is not the fault of the hotel alone but the resorts which I truly believe needs to be properly addressed.
The rooms are large and clean. There were four of us in a room with two double beds so the space isn't that much, but it worked okay for two days. The bathroom was large in size and clean. The internet was free and fast.
