Sham Shui Po is a rare place for tourists even for some local people because it is one of the poorest districts in Hong Kong. But don't worry, it is absolutely safe and has a lot to offer. It keeps the original taste of Hong Kong with its abundance of local restaurants and markets. There is a computer center, vintage flea market in a close distance with the MTR.

I love the district and would recommend it to tourists because HK is not just about money, commercial centers and luxury goods. There is a lot to explore in the "common life" of people and look into how people from lower social class live.

Well away from the tourist trail but reachable via the train. Can be crowded in the street markets but this is a reflection of the true HK largely devoid of tourists. Dragon Centre offers a fairly good shopping centre. Food here can be very authentic and quite well priced. This area has a sub-continetal influence as well. People are quite friendly and generally a little surprised to see a western tourist in these parts. Granted this is a slightly lower socio-economic are but it feels safe. Also a large amount of electronics shopping available as well. I have been at least 2 dozen times and will return again. A true favourite for me.

A lot of electronics stuffs, local food. you can visit here from MTR station and that's the best point. I think it's cheaper than Tsim Sha Tsui.

Great variety of shops and market stalls, very cheap prices but with quality goods also, and not too crowded, mainly locals - hardly saw a tourist, even had toilet facilities which are hard to find in some areas.

take the MTR to Shum shui po get off at exit D and you will run into the golden centre where you can find most computer stuff at bargain price, even Xbox and NDS. my experience tells me not matter how much you like the product, so not buy at the first store and always compare price, the shops nears the me entrance are more expensive for an identical product. if you buy Iphone charge cables or earphone, make sure you try it, cheap things come with a price - poor quality. Ap Liu Street oa on he other side of the MTR station where you find many small stalls in the street sell all kind of elector of products. guess what, I bought a laser sight scope for my rifle at a shop there, even gun is banned in HK! you can find things out of your imagination
