“Excellent service!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2010

3 min walk to subway station and starbucks, 5 min walk to Lan Kwai Fong, very good location! I even received a big fruit plate and a bottle of wine for free!

Negatives: room is a bit small and internet is 120HKD a day.

the lan kwai fong was a fabuous hotel. the rooms were much bigger and better decorated than we were lead to believe by other reviewers. we had plenty of cupboard and drawer space to unpack our things. bathroom was small but cute and very modern.
location was fabulous, close to everything, including the bars and restaraunts of SOHO, Central Sheung Wan MTR, ferry piers and central shopping. we were on the 18th floor with quite a nice view of the skyscrapers and glimpses of the harbour (the mountain side was reflected in the mornings on one of the glass buildings facing our room - very pretty. only slight criticism is the staff (often 8 people squished behind the desk) don't acknowledge you as you come and go - not a huge problem for us but unusual nonetheless. will eagerly stay there again on our next visit.

The name is rather misleading, as Lan Kwai Fong Hotel is located in Noho rather than LKF, but unless you are looking to party with ex-pats, this location is most likely more preferable.

Situated near Gough St's great restaurants and boutique shops, and a short walk from Soho, the escalator and not too far from the ferries, this is a great spot for accessing Hong Kong. The traditional Chinese style decor, could be cheesy, but actually seems to work. Like most Hong Kong hotels, the rooms are tiny, but the space is well utilised, with a window seat and traditional Chinese tea tray, instead of a dining space. But it's a nice spot to take in the spectacular views over the mountain.

The service is friendly and efficient - and overall couldn't be faulted. The gym is basic, but if you just want a quick workout, it has everything you need included good quality treadmill and cross trainer, plus basic weights and a couple of machines.

The only slight downfall is the room service. The service is fast, however the actual food was disappointing, and this probably owes to my choice of traditional English breakfast, and then a dinner of lasagne. But both were dry, not very tasty or visually appealing.

Stay here if you want the best location for fun/restaurants/action, and want a trendy hotel with local flair, but don't want a lot of room to manoeuver around your room because you won't get it. These are boxes, but decorated so nicely. I loved our little room but were thankful we were only there for one night as a run through HK and were going out for dinner/drinks. You cannot beat the location of either LKF location. Be sure you know which one you are staying at, it is easy to confuse them. But you can't go wrong with either one. Best spot for solo travellers.

Though the room is relatively small, it is cosy, comfortable and has interesting oriental touches. From the mirror, to the bathroom to the bed, you feel like you're back in ancient China (not that I've been : ) )

The service is good and fast. They respond to requests almost immediately.

My only grouse was the food. The first night there, I dined at the restaurant (forgot the name though). I was the only customer there (it figures). The food was not fresh and I had to request for a change. The staff were apologetic and accommodating but ... it's a pity.

The hotel is located at Central, near the Lan Kwai Fong area, well known to be the hub for dining, night outs, especially for foreigners.

Stayed in Lan Kwai Fong Hotel from 11-14 Aug and it is now ranked highly in the hotels I have stayed in before.

First, there was a free shuttle bus to the hotel from Hong Kong Station, where you will alight from the Airport Express. Sure, the shuttle driver wasn't too friendly or helpful but the staff we met at the hotel more than made up for it.

Next, the decor. Stunning lobby with a nice waiting room that's great if you have a late flight - you could pack and rest there for a bit. I was prepared by many for the size of the rooms so when I saw my room, I was pleasantly surprised. It could fit my friend and my large suitcases comfortably. Since I was there for a holiday, I wasn't expecting to stay much in the room anyway so the cosiness was ok with me.

Location is another plus point. Less than 5 mins from Sheung Wan MTR and about 10 mins from Central and Hong Kong MTR if you want to do some shopping/eating along the way. We are just 1 min walk (down a short slope) from Wellington Street which is home to many great restaurants such as Yung Kee and Tsui Wah. If you take a slight left/right on Lyndhurst, you will find Tai Cheung Bakery which is renowned for egg tarts and Lan Fong Yuen, a quaint, old teahouse famed for stockinged milk tea and pork chop buns. It helps too that its so close to SoHo and Lan Kwai Fong.

As I have stayed in Tsimshatsui, Causeway Bay and Mongkok during my previous visits, I must say that Central will be my choice of hotel location the next time. Tsimshatsui and Causeway Bay are prone to thronging crowds and I find Mongkok slightly on the messy side though the place is definitely safe. Central, on the other hand, is more orderly, incredibly well-linked to the MTR lines and Star Ferry (since it is also an interchange). The only downside is the walks up and down slopes but when one is in Hong Kong, expect to walk. A lot.

I have nothing to complain about the service. The front office manager Kelvin, the receptionists and the concierges were all helpful and friendly. We had advice on where to go for great eats and they were prompt to help with our luggages.

All in all, I find the hotel to be fabulous and would love to stay there again for my next trip there, if I could get the same industry rate.

We stayed for two nights at the Lan Kwai Fong Hotel at Kau U Fong. The hotel is technically closer to the Sheung Wan MTR station then Central. Hotel is very small with horrible services. We checked in around 11pm. There were at least 6 or 7 staff squeezed behind the check in counter but no one offered to bring our luggage up. The temperature of the AC was very hard to control as it is always way too cold. There is not much sound insulation at all. We could hear our neighbor fart !!! The hotel has a very annoying elevator music that plays early in the morning that woke us up. As we checked out, again no one offered to help us to get a taxi or bring out the luggage. I don't think this hotel can consider to be a 4 stars hotel at all. Don't expect much from it. It is just a small hotel with a somewhat convenient location to soho and central area. It is close to the HK station for the airport express.
