“GOOD IN PATCHES”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights and were satisfied but not thrilled. The rooms are really small even having been warned about this. It is a feat for two people to stay in one room without continually treading on one another, and forget about storage space. The location is good, and we enjoyed staying in what seemed a very authentic and older part of town. A good strong shower was a notable feature, as was a strikingly pleasant indoor/outdoor casual lounge on the 4th floor where we had evening coffee as the weather had turned quite balmy just after we arrived. We thought it was quite expensive for what you got, but perhaps the rooms in cheaper hotels in Hong Kong are even smaller!

We had a room on the 30th floor that had views across the harbour - wonderful!!!
The room was on the small side but good use was made of the space with the window seats - a great place to sit and look at the view. Hong Kong is renown for small hotel rooms and I was expecting it to be a lot smaller given the price of the hotel - good value.
The hotel is well situated for public transport, with its own shuttle from the Central Station (direct from the airport), as well as for the underground, buses and trams. It was easy to get around and there are lots of shops etc within walking distance. At night there are lots of restaurants in the area, including one just around the corner which did very good and cheap Chinese food.

Stay:
7 days

Room size (APPROX. less than 160sq feet):
We're used large spaces and therefore it really felt crammed (i guess most hong kong hotel rooms are). Bathroom definitely not fit for 2 people to be in and they should have made slidding door entry insteat of open in and out which is a pain of getting in and out of the bathrooms.
Nice design for the bathroom though and seems clean.

Room comfort:
No heater in the ducted air conditioning but thank god they provide a heater or else it will be freezing in winter.
Comfortable room and nice design.

Service:
Efficient and fast.
Helpful in providing directions around hongkong especially a guy name RObert Chung.
Friendliness of staff wouldn't be the best for some of the staff there.

Location: Pretty convenient. Just need to know your way around hong kong and its pretty close to everywhere.
Haven't tried other hong kong hotels yet to give comparison.

Overall rating: 6/10

This is typical Hong Kong hotels, the rooms are just fit to sleep and two luggage. The hotel location is near to Lan Kwai Fong where lots of bars and restaurants. It is walking distance to Central Shopping malls (M&S, Gucci, LV , etc). It is quite hard to remember the location of the Hotel because it lies within kind of labyrinth and we got lost on the way back to the hotel on the second day trip. We stopped the taxi to get us back but the taxi also gave up provided the driver has already called the hotel reception. Nevertheless, the receptionist are all very friendly and kind and helpful in providing us direction of certain places we asked. Hotel also provides shuttle bus to train station (airport express). 7 eleven is just across the street and some chinesse restaurants are 1 minute walking distance. There are two nearest MTR: seung wan and central.

The location of this hotel is good. Short walk to mid levels and to the MTR but enough of a distance from the bars to be quiet.

The rooms are very small but with nice decoration and definitely mroe intersting that the average business hotel in Hong Kong. It was 10 degrees centigrade and lower the weekend we stayed here and the rooms had no heating which made it quite chilly at night. I wouldn't choose to stay here in winter again.

We also had a problem with the room service breakfast which was late, cold and missing a lot of the ordered items. The breakfast served in the restaurant was not very good either so i'd recommend a walk to one of the many cafes in Soho as an alternative to eating at this hotel.

Summary: If you want to stay in a central location on Hong Kong island and don't mind a tiny room, this hotel is for you.

Location: The hotel is located a ten minute walk from Lan Kwai Fong, not in LFK. That said, it is very centrally located. There is a chain of escalators that cut through the center of HK island and allow you to easily access all the most important parts of the island, such as LKF, Soho, IFC and the Star Ferry. The hotel is a five minute walk from the escalator.

Facilities: The rooms are truly tiny. There is a restaurant, bar and gym on the premises, none of which I used. There are a ton of really good restaurants and bars in the vicinity.

Service: Decent. They transfered us to the Airport Express for free on the morning that we departed, which I appreciated.

Other: The WIFI prices were extortionary.

First room was small and smelly, I wasn’t aware that there were smoking rooms and had not been given the option of not getting one. The staff really tried to find a other room that was not smelly and had the requested harbour view – they didn’t manage that night (it was evening) but they did the next day, even though I only had two nights there. Harbour view is a sliver between some other buildings so not really worth worrying about – rooms are small but this is Hong Kong and large rooms come with large prices. Overall the hotel was reasonable, if unexceptional and perhaps not quite as good as some write ups suggest.
