We stayed one night in the Stanley Suite, which is a corner suite affording a fantastic view of congested, sky-scraper Central, and looks right over the legendary Pottinger Street. The location is ideal for visitors wanting to be dropped into the heart of Hong Kong's little streets, markets and jostling shoppers. Nice to discover a peaceful boutique hotel here, so tastefully decorated in a blend of elements that include classic blue/white ginger jars, and sleek chrome and marble. The suite was pristine and smart - nothing too fussy, but with a light touch afforded by pale pistachio and white fabrics, with the occasional cherry hues. Nespresso machines, complimentary Fiji water and Hong Kong cookies are in the salon. A thoughtfully curated selection of Hong Kong books for adults as well as children, shows attention to detail and a desire to showcase the best local authors and artists have to offer. Sliding doors separate the bedroom and bathroom suite from the salon, so that meetings may be comfortably hosted. The bathroom is large in white marble, with good water pressure and lighting. HD TV and sound system (though we couldn't access many international channels). Acca Kappa brand toiletries are an elegant touch.
Lovely thick white bathsheets. Rather surprisingly, the bedlinen is not of the same quality. While it looks very beautiful, the cotton is not as fine or as soft as other hotel bedlinen in this category of hotel. Hopefully this will be addressed soon.
As the hotel is only about two weeks old, it is understandable that some aspects are still in process. The complimentary breakfast in The Envoy lounge is at this stage - ahead of the kitchen being in full operation - a light continental offering. But the pastries and bread could be finer, and it probably wouldn't take much to compile a good assortment of fresh cheeses and fruit. It is worth noting that The Envoy has a lovely outdoor terrace - ideal for balmy nights.
Gym and spa facilities do not exist on site, but I was given to understand that guests are welcome to visit the nearby Caifornia Fitness Gym.
A lovely alternative to the massive hotels that typify a visit to Hong Kong. Reasonably priced at this early stage of the hotel's existence. I think it may turn out to be a jewel...
