“Spacious Room with Fascinating View Away from the City”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

Nina is one of the newer hotels and one of the tallest in Tsuen Wan with 77 floors. Booked a room on the 30th floor and got upgraded to 70th floor! Choose a room facing the bay and you will get a breathtaking view of both the cityscape and the ocean. The rooms are big compared to the ones you normally get in Central HK.

Since Tsuen Wan is a bit far from the tourist area, about 20 min ride via MTR, you will find mostly locals and that they hardly speak English. Life in Tsuen Wan is slower and more quiet. You will find more greenery and parks , which you can go through to and from Nina which is very pleasant.

At the airport, follow the bus terminal sign and out to the buses. Just outside the door to the left is a bus ticket vending machine. Purchase A31. This bus will take you to the bus terminal close to Nina. Cross the street to the Pet Park and cut through the children play area and you are at the hotel. Bus ride is 1 hr away from the airport about HK$19 per person. Taxi will cost you HK$300. Nina is about 5 min walk from the bus terminal and MTR . The MTR is the indoor station beside the bus terminal . It will take you around 20 min to central HK. The same bus will take you back to the airport. One leaves every 15-30 mins or so.

Be sure to bring an extra toothbrush as the first one I opened had very hard bristles and soft handle. The other one was alright. Be prepared to spend time at the lobby for free wi-fi . You will have to pay HK$30 to be connected in your room. Stay at the leftmost part of the lobby facing the reception where connection is strongest especially when the lobby is usually full of people most of the time. Do not get daunted by crowd at the lobby nor the line at the reception. The staff is efficient and check-in is speedy. The elevators will bring you up to your room in no time. The room had a bathtub and shower and a nice hot soak in the tub is glorious after a long day of being on your feet.

Immediately out front to the right of the hotel driveway are malls Citywalk1 and 2 (which has Kentucky and burgers though few stores)and the wet market and various local stores and eateries. Avoid taking pictures at the market. Some vendors seem not to like tourists taking photos of their wares.
On the other side of the lobby's side entrance, turn a right before reaching the escalator go straight out to Aeon grocery and Tsuen Wan mall with specialty stores. Up the escalator will take you to the malls, restaurants, a coffee shop with free wi-fi and comfortable seats). At the grocery you can buy cooked inexpensive food to eat like eel, cold cuts like octopus, seaweed. The grocery also has eateries in front which are inexpensive. There is no restroom at the lobby but there is one at the cake shop just to the right of the escalator at the side entrance of the hotel and is very clean.

Our free breakfast buffet at Circles Restaurant on the 9th floor features the usual bacon, sausage, porridge. The dry noodles, beef patties, gyoza, ribena juice is worth mentioning as it is good. Also peaches and cream ( the cream has oatmeal and almond shavings- heavenly!) I recommend the table to the leftmost of the gigantic table and get the table facing the window as it has the view of the bay and is away from noisy groups usually seated in the middle near the buffet table. Just turn a blind eye at the construction site fronting the bay. The omellette I had was underdone although I specified well done and the mushrooms were still a bit raw and juice spilled out as I cut through it.

Since it was winter when we stayed at Nina, I was pleasantly surprised that there is a heated indoor pool available for use while the outdoor is closed.

All in all, our stay is pleasant and we are very happy with the accommodations. At Nina we get the best of both worlds HK has to offer. Will definitely stay at this hotel the next time we are in Hong Kong!

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better view. Choose one with a view of the bay.

Just came back from L' Hotel Nina. Stayed there for four nights.

Pros:
1. A new and large hotel. The main building is a 77-storey tower fronting Tsuen Wan Bay. You will get larger room at reasonable price compared to city centre hotels.
2. Many lifts serving your needs. If you are staying at the main block, you'll need to take lifts to 41th floor and then transfer to your floor by another lift. Generally, they are quite fast. No problem.
3. Near bus terminal and MTR Tsuen Wan West Station. Convenient. However, there is a lack of direction signs to the MTR outside the building compound.
4. Plenty of shops and eateries. In and around the building, there are Nina Tower, City Walk 1 and 2, Tsuen Wan Plaza, AEON offering you lot of shopping and eating experience.
5. There is a traditional market nearby which gives you a glimpse into local life style.
6. Ask for high floor. You will get fantastic view.

Cons:
1. Large hotel means you have to wait in line to get yourself check in. I have not seen such a long queue in other hotels. At peak hours, you may have to wait for 20 to 30 minutes.
2. WiFi is only offered at lobby. However, owing to high demand, you will not be able to get through 90% of the time.
3. The hotel seems to be popular among group tourists/ convention organizers from Mainland China. You will see large crowds all the time congregated at the lobby waiting for check in or airport transfer.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. If you are sick of the old, small, depressed hotels at the city centre, this one is recommended. Truly.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor eg. 76th or 77th floor to enjoy good view especially those facing the sea.

I stayed at this hotel during my first trip attending JCI ASPAC Hong Kong. Then again when visiting our sister chapter in June 2013.
Got a very good deal promo online.

Hotel lobby is huge and check in was fast.
The hotel room is modern and sleek. It would have been perfect if I did not have to share the room, as the bathroom has see through windows with curtains that you can pull to cover. Big bath tub, and separate stalls for WC and shower.
Million dollar views of the sea.
Free wifi only in lobby though.

I love staying in this hotel as it is away from the busy and chaos of Hong Kong city center. Train station is just 5 minutes walk away, and the best part is that the hotel is surrounded by shopping malls, and just opposite the wet market, so I could get my supplies of fresh fruits to bring home.

Definitely look forward to staying there again in future.

Room Tip: Request room on the right side tower of the building when you enter. The rooms there are more spacio...

My wife, then 4-year old daughter and I stayed here for three nights. We were arriving from Guangzhou via Macau, thus we used the ferry service. We also needed to pick up our bags at the previous hotel and then took a taxi to this hotel. We managed to arrive at about 10pm at night.

As usual, we paid already and the check-in was a no-hassle. We were even upgraded to a bigger & more expensive room. Not sure whether it was due to my reservation of two nights of cheaper room & one night of more expensive (new tower) room.

Like the room in Chimelong Hotel, the room that we got in this hotel blew our mind, especially the bathroom & the view. Our room was situated at the corner of the new tower (41st floor, mind you), thus we had a 180 degrees view of Tsuen Wan area and its bay.

POSITIVE:
# clean room
# nice decor
# no hassle late check in
# clean shower & toilet
# breathtaking view, even in the bathroom
# walking distance to Tsuen Wan West Station
# connected to malls

NEGATIVE;
# the access card was faulty at one of the night but a change of the card quickly solved the problem

Room Tip: Ask for high floors & corner unit!

Most of the hotels in Hong Kong are consider quite small, but in L Nina Hotel, their room space is consider more than acceptable in HK.
And most importantly the location is good, have wet market and huge shopping centre nearby.
You can find nice food nearby the wet market there. e.g. Roasted pigeon, roasted goose, egg tarts, etc.
You can easily access to Tsim Sha Tsui/ Mong Kok area by taking Tsuen Wan East MTR from L Nina Hotel. It is just 5 min walk to MTR from Hotel.

Room Tip: Request high floor, and u will have a good view of HK.

Read good reviews on TripAdvisor and knew to ask for a corner room, tower 2, harbor view, high floor and wow - our room was spectacular! The front desk staff listened to my request and gave us corner room 4630 which was gorgeous. Huge bathroom, bedroom and living space with windows on both sides overlooking the harbor. Breath-taking! The deep soaking tub was wonderful, as was the rainfall shower which, in a clear tube, overlooked the room or could be curtained for privacy. The breakfast buffet was tasty and was included in our stay. No lines and prompt service, serving both Asian and Western food. The location is good - right next to a shopping mall and supermarket. Five minute walk to the train and bus station. Next to a park.

Cons that prevents this being a five star review:
- no wifi available in room. For pay Internet access is plug-in wire only.
- bed was hard as a slab of marble. Horrible.
- the hallway noise was very loud and carried. In the middle of the night kids are screaming in the hallway and no one is keeping quiet. The heavy doors slam. Bring ear plugs.
- one night the fire alarm went off three times. Loud blaring alarm and red lights flashing. There were no instructions, no automated announcements over PA, no automated calls to our room and no security or staff showed up. Because the loud alarm turned off, we went back to bed but the red light was still flashing so I got no sleep worried we were going to die by not evacuated. The next day there was no note of explanation slipped under our door, so I went to the front desk to inquire. He had no idea so he asked someone else. He eventually came back and said "false alarm" but no apology. Horrible management for such a situation which you know all hotels should prepare for - whether it's a kid pulling an alarm or the real deal. Communication to guests is important.

The room on the 71st floor was nice enough although showing its age. The hotel is next to a bus terminal to mainland China so that adds an interesting and, how to say it, lively and colorful atmosphere to the place.
