“Great location, nice room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2011

Enjoyed our 4 nights stay in this hotel. Location is in the heart of Wan Chai, a bit difficult to find at first especially since the hotel is located in an office building (JJ ocupies 9th to 12th floors), we walked from the MTR going to the hotel so we had to ask around. Lots of good places to eat in the area and nearby shops where you can find great bargains. About 10 minutes walk from the MRT. Loved the bed - firm and comfy. Size of the room is quite big compared to other HK hotels with the same price. Toilet & Bath is a bit funny, it's all glass, but there are shades you can pull down for some privacy. Over-all, it's good value for money and recommendable. Will stay here again given the chance.

We stayed here for 3 days during our last trip to Hong Kong. The room was pretty spacious. The decor is clean and simple. The bed was very comfortable too. It was very hot in the summer when we went so the a/c really helped. The location is great. It was about 10 min to the Wan Chai metro station and there are many restaurants in the area. It is not easy to find an affordable hotel in Hong Kong that is not teeny tiny. We will definitely stay here again. The wifi is not great inside the hotel room but works well if you are in the lobby/meeting area. I had one problem with the receptionist though. On the second day, my key wasn't working anymore. The receptionist reswiped it and it worked. 10 minutes later, I had the same problem again. After the third time that my failed, I was pretty upset. Instead of offering to give me a new key altogether the receptionist started yelling at me and said that I must have switched the keys between the two rooms that I had booked. The other key I had worked fine so I didn't mix them up. Other than that minor inconvenience, we had a nice stay there.

It is in the heart of Wan Chai, the old part of Hong Kong Island, you cannot compare it with the ones with 5 stars brand, but its location is great provided you know how to travel by bus and tram. A fair walk from the MTR, but it is safe and you will enjoy the walk especially during weekends. The best way to get to this hotel from the airport is to take the Airport Express to Central Station in Hong Kong Island and then take a taxi, (print out the Chinese address for your taxi driver) can stop right in front of the hotel. Then you can ask the hotel front desk for your further transportation needs. The room is clean, elegant size for a Hong Kong hotel room (it locates in the prime area of Wan Chai, mind the room size), sound proof rooms and very good air conditioning for the summer ! Lots of good eat around the area, peace and quiet.

Room Tip: A room away from the elevators.

We got the corner room, which was very clean and peaceful. Room was a real deal for money. The location is near the mtr (most convenient way to travel generally in Hong Kong), tram (another cheap and convenient way to travel around Hong Kong island; this is our favorite to ride) and ferry (cheapest way to cross to the Kowloon side where most of the shopping is located). Also near the Hong Kong Convention Centre.

Wifi didn't reach our room. But may be probable in the lounge area of each floor. Anyway, there is wifi in the bus, mtr and many places in Hong Kong, so this isn't much of a problem.

JJ hotel is 10 minutes walk from Wanchai MTR station, lots restaurants near by and tram station as well. Very convinient location. The hotel is located at 9-12F, It also has a supermarket in the building.
The room is big, clean and comfortable, it's a good deal with the money you pay. Some small things can be improved like you can hear the sounds on the isle, the air condition is really cold at the public area of this hotel, make sure you have a small jacket with you!

Arrived at JJ Hotel last Oct. 5. Took us a few people to ask before we finally located this hotel from the A11 Bus from the airport. I guessed it would have been easier if we arrived via MTR Airport Express from the airport. In the event that you get lost, ask somebody from other "boutique" hotels which are everywhere in this place, not from someone in the street. Even guys at nearby 711 won't be able to tell you where JJ Hotel is. It might help to ask where Emperor Group Center is, that is one big building along Hennesy Rd. (the main road) and directly behind Emperor Group Center's building is Lucky Center, where JJ Hotel is.

We booked a superior room, 2 beds for four nights. The room is very clean, the bathroom with glass enclosure is a nice touch to an otherwise plain room. The beds are quite hard, which is a personal preference. So far, everything that's in this room (Rm 903) works. Only complaint is the cable TV whose channels number like, 6 and out of the 6 channels, only one is an English channel. There's a DVD machine, but you have to pay HKD 50 to "borrow" a movie from the library at the reception. If you will be out the whole day, like us, and would only be needing a shower and nice bed to sleep on at night, then this is ok. There are no hotel amenities to speak of, this is a no-frills, standard hotel. You get what you pay for and frankly, not bad for a budget hotel in Hong Kong. The only downside here is that the nearest MTR station (Wan Chai) is a few blocks away. It's NOT near esp if you are carrying massive shopping bags ALL THE TIME! While getting a cab is an option, flag down rate is HKD 20 vis a vis the MTR, bus or tram that only average between 2-5 HKD, depending on your destination. But for the love of myself (feet and arms especially) do get a cab when you think your arms and legs would like to separate from you already. Better yet, google map your hotel first before making a reservation and get those that are a building or one or two buildings/steps away from an MTR station. I guess when they say 3-5 mins walk, it may still be ok. But if it says 10-15 mins walk, that means its far! So beware. Other than the location, the hotel room is ok and if only for that, I would be staying here again. To summarize, location is a no, room cleanliness and comfort is a yes.

Food? Never worry even if the hotel doesn't serve breakfast or any meals. You will never go hungry in Wan Chai. There are restaurants everywhere to suit your budget.

Room Tip: Our room, Rm 903 is facing Wan Chai and Hennesy Rd. Everything in this room is working - TV with lim...

We stayed at JJ for three nights in September. The hotel is easy to find. You can take the MTR Airport Express to Central and transfer to the blue line and go two stops to Wan Chai. Exit A3 and turn left out of the exit. You will be on Johnston Road. The road will split to Wanchai road, which will be on the other side of the street. Follow the addresses on the front of the build. The number will go higher as you continue down the street. Next store to the hotel will be a Japanese restaurant. Two door down from the hotel will be a laundry. The hotel is located in the Lucky Center Building. A doorman is usually their to open the door. Take the elevator up the ninth floor to the desk. We were greeted by Jeffery, who was very helpful to us. Free water is available on the 11th floor. The room was clean, very good air conditioning, cold refrig, and comfortable bed. In the basement is a grocery store. Across the street is a bakery. Some nice noodle restaurants around the corner. Wanchai street market about 10 minute walk. I would stay here again on my next visit to Hong Kong.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 10th floor. I think the 11th floor allows smoking in the common area.
