“Fantastic views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 January 2011

This hotel is pricy (as are most hotels in Hong Kong), but the harbor views are superb and worth all the money. Staff is friendly, and the amenities for business travellers are fine. The hotel is conviently located close to Hong Kong University.

I liked this hotel. I've never been to Hong Kong and didn't know what to expect. The location of this hotel is not the best if you want to be smack-dab in the middle of the tourist area. However, if you walk a bit or take a taxi you can find the touristy spots.

I booked a harbor view room room which was worth the extra $$$. I heard what sounded like a fog horn in the middle of the night which made me smile more than anything - there's a gazillion boats in the harbor. The room was very modern and clean.

The staff at this hotel were extremely attentive to everything - better then most other hotels I stayed at.

My only two complaints here, is that there was no hand soap or hand soap dish in the bathroom; there was facial soap next to the sink in a little tray which was OK and there was no sandals, there was a robe. I know its very minor but the room was amazing otherwise.

I would certainly stay here again.

This hotel is west of the busy Central, Admiralty, Causeway Bay areas (the entrance is in Water Street). This part of Hong Kong is less touristy with many more local merchants going about their business. There is a tram stop almost at the front door which makes getting to and from very easy. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade when we made our booking (our room included cocktails in the bar from 6-8pm each night). Our quite large room was on the 29th floor and had lots of glass for a good view of the Peak, and east and west of the hotel. The room, which was serviced each day, was well appointed and very clean as was the bathroom (which had a terrific shower with plenty of hot water). The bed was extremely comfortable and the linen spotless. Internet access is available if you’re prepared to pay for it. There are wireless hotspots around (most of the parks have free Government WiFi available in them). Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is lovely and quiet, if you prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle of the high end shopping precincts, is in a great location.

I had a lovely stay at this hotel, though their check in-out system was on a slow side and need an upgrade. They still need you to sign those papers and won't charge your credit card unless you are at present. This slow us down on a check out as my client needs to show up in order to sign for his internet charge.

However the room is very nice and modern. My second room with a view is nice but a littler small compare to the first one with no view. Love the bathroom with a see through glass. The concierge service was superb, except for some staffs. They were very helpful as I relied on them a lot to accommodate my clients.

Location is not too bad as it's only a short ride from a central area but would be much better if it's right next to a train station. But again, cab fares are so cheap here. Sometimes during busy hours I think they need more staffs in a front to call and talk to a cab. Some funny things about cab driver here are they won't understand English that well and if they do, they seem to have a short memory of where we are going.

Overall, I had a lovely stay at this hotel.

Nice Marriott property but a bit out of the way in that it is not on a MTR line. However taking the nearby tram or walking to Sheung Wan station is certainly doable. It is a great deal if you can get one of the Priceline deals of under $100 US a night. It is in a quieter area of HK Island which can be a nice change from the more touristy areas.

We stayed here for 10 days so we definitely had enough time to get to know this place.

First location. It's deceiving because you're not next to any mtr station so someone who's never spent any time in hong kong may think it's too off the beaten path. It's definitely in a "local" area but it's no more than 10 minutes away from SoHo/mid-levels thanks to the wonderful trolley that stops right outside. Trolley comes every 5 minutes or less, and it's only $2 HKD to ride (about 30 cents). If you're going somewhere else via mtr, you can tKw the trolley to the Sheun Wan station and it's only a 5 minute ride. If you don't feel like braving the trolley, you can take a $25 HKD (about $3.25) cab to the IFC. If you want to walk, you can make it to the mid-levels in about 20-25 minutes. Needless to say the location is great.

As far as rooms, they're definitely bigger than regular HK rooms. They also have very modern furniture throughout. If you're lucky enough to have access to the lounge, it has a great breakfast and evening cocktail hour with some hot food and the standard cheese and crackers.

The staff is also extremely nice! We had to deal with the front desk manager and security manager for a personal issue and they were very helpful.

We would definitely stay in this hotel again. We originally had reservations at the JW and decided to stay here to save money and we definitely don't regret it! Awesome hotel.

Though located in the Western part of Hong Kong Island the connections into the major attractions of the city is not too bad. Some taxi drivers don't know the location exactly but with the taxi card from the hotel all of them were able to find it.
With trams and many buses just around-the-corner to the city you can complain that the location is so bad.
The room that I had was small for non-Hong Kong standards but for Hong Kong it was ok. And it had a big panarama window from which I could overlook to Kowloon.
The hotel doesn't have many choices of restaurants but in Hong Kong, there are so many chances for food that this is not a big issue. And there are 24-hours-convenient stores just across the street.
WiFi works also fine, the rate was 120 HKD for 24 hours or 60 HKD for 1 hour. I found the rates fair.
