“Nice way to spend a day”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

Plenty to see here. Plan to walk miles and see many things and plenty of beauty in the spring. Not a lot of old stuff here but this is part of the national park with many days of sightseeing needed to see it all.

“Massive congestion with a mountain somewhere below it all”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

After multiple bus transfers (a couple within the 'mountain zone), we gave up ever trying to make it to the cable cars and discovered that walking was five times faster than bus. Totally disorganized and private cars made a complete mess of the park - should be regulated. Visited the villa of Song Mei-ling, which was a pleasant escape from the crowds, as was the Ming Tombs museum. Unfortunately, if there was an actual mountain, we never saw it as it must have been covered in cars.

“Cable car or hiking, it's your choice...”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

The picture that shown above that has many stairs and building on top of it is actually "zhongshanling" not really purple mountain although the place is inside the area of purple mountain.. purple mountain is a huge place where there are many tourism places that you can choose like zhonshanling, observatory, mountain peak, etc..

there is two choices if you want to go to the peak, hike and ride a cable car.. the gate for these choices is different.. the cable car is available at 60 yuan for return ticket, 45 yuan for one-way ticket.. at the peak, the view was quite nice, there is a park here and places to eat snacks or drinks..

“View was okay, but too many crowds”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

The view from the top was okay, but the walk up was very very long and tiring, especially considering the winter weather.

However, we had to share the mountain with a large number of tour groups, making the viewing platforms extremely crowded, and this detracted from the overall experience.

“Great hike, not so great with smog.”
Reviewed 16 January 2014

Beautiful park, you can take a strenuous hike and get some great views. If it is smoggy, the view is quite diminished.
