“just good”

Good service, some fine dishes on the menu, powerfoods (and teas) like spinach and garlic highly recommended at this altitude.

“Great location on Main street”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2014

It was clean, the food was great. We discovered a special tea: hot tea made with ginger, honey and lemon - and with colds coming on, this beverage was soothing and most comforting

“Nothing Special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2014

Now here is one restaurant in Lhasa that for all its good review I just don’t get. Nowhere near as special as the atmospheric House of Shambala, not nearly as varied a menu as centrally located Snowlands and, despite the vaulted “Western” hospitality, we found little of that. There was nothing really wrong with the restaurant, but the menu was quite limited, some dishes were not particularly good (including my yak, which I enjoyed pretty much every other place I had it), service was very slow and, despite a downpour and our request for assistance hailing a taxi (always hard in Lhasa), no one – including the owners who were sitting at the table next to us – offered any assistance. Once we were done, they were done. The restaurant is completely overrated and there are many better choices in Lhasa.

“Excellent find in Lhasa!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Yak Hotel next door and dropped into the Dunya upstairs bar for a quick drink one night: very confortable and great music, colourful Dutchman owner was a great character and the Napalese manager was very helpful and made truly GOOD margaritas...not something easy to find. Had dinner in the restaurant one night, and upstairs in the bar one night: both were very good and reasonable priced...good portions and great service. If you get a bit road-weary and just want a bit of good, familiar food in friendly surroundings, this place is an excellent choice!

“Not excited about this place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 November 2013 via mobile

We went here on advice from our guide for some western food for my son who had been sick. The food was oily. I wasn't keen to go back but we did only because it was next door. 2nd time the man upstairs was so rude that we left without eating. Asked for a lassi and he said no because they were busy. I then said ok a tea which he said no to, a can of coke, also no, then a glass of water - again NO!! So as we sat there discussing our options to all the No's, a girl came over with water an apologized for the rude man. No problems, we got up and went across the road to Ganglamedo where the staff are lovely and so is the food. Wouldn't go back to this place or recommend it based on the staff. The food is take it or leave it anyway. Find somewhere else.
