Ate here a couple of times during our week in Lhasa, both lunch and dinner. Quick, efficient service, good prices, and the best naan bread I've ever had.

Snowlands is one of the famous restaurants in Lhasa. The food is great, the service is exceptional. However it is a little westernized, It is where all the western and Chinese tourist go. That being said, there are plenty of Chinese there as well.

Great food great place.

It was supposed to be a CNY lunch for the 4 of us who walk in for lunch this noon. The weather is still considerably cold in Lhasa during the CNY holiday. It was not our first time visit and usually we need to take a queue number, fortunately today we could walk in without any queue and we found a seating area where it has a heater, we were happily get seated ourself and start asking for a menu. We were told by a service staff that we could not take the seat coz it was not meant for 4 persons, but there is no other big group is waiting, we tried to tell her that we wanted the seat because of the heater, but she insisted no, and asked us to shift to other area, otherwise, we will not be served. Being a seasonal traveller and posted overseas for a decade, i have never seen such a bad attitude of a service staff who demand a guest to change a seating area where the guest has already settled in. Lhasa is the most anticipated city of world traveller, it is so sadly to see the service quality is not being valued and appreciated by the service industry operator, where restaurant is one of the key player. We walk out the restaurant and we were treated much more better and welcomed by Namaste Restaurant at Bakhor Street.

The centrally-located Snowlands Restaurant is one of the better typical Tibetan restaurants in town. It has three important things going for it – it is clean, it has a non-smoking section and there is a good variety of decently prepared food from both Western and Asian (including Tibetan) menu choices. Service is not polished, but that is the case throughout Lhasa, even in the best hotel dining rooms, but at least our server was polite and our order came out correctly. We recommend it and even considered returning for a second meal until we decided just to stay in and take a restaurant “break” one evening.

The food here is alright.  Service was fine and they have an English menu.  We had a nice yak curry with potatoes and rice.  The momos were also good.
