Interesting to walk around. Lots to see and experience although the heat and crowds limited our time. Maybe try on a weekday as Sunday was ridiculously busy.
We went to the Jakarta museum. It was interesting and not expensive. Nice to learn about the city you're staying in. Lots of local people gather in the square in the evening and there were some live bands. Very cool place if you want to see some place locals hangout.
This area is nothing special. It's very hectic (like much of Jakarta). It's the sort of place that you only need to visit once. The art gallery is quite good, for local artwork, but it could do with a renovation.
Actually this area suppose to be historical and beautiful. But the street market and street foods surrounding it make it less attractive. Local Government should be able to improve it to make it more clean looking so people more comfortable to walk around.
I went around the old city with friends at night, the atmosphere that was crowded at night was accompanied by songs from street artists. we were very entertained we had fun, dancing and singing together. I highly recommend this place to be one of the destinations that must be visited if you come to Jakarta.
