Notably known as business hotel and the ballroom is slightly smaller compare to the other neighbouring hotels, yet this is why I find that it’s a perfect venue for my small yet intimate wedding party. The location is excellent, situated in front of Jakarta’s famous monument, where there are two malls just across the hotel. The lobby is classy and not excessively big, and there are bar upstairs for late night chat. The swimming pool is quite small but reasonable. My husband and I were given a complimentary spa treatment which we highly recommended.
Our families and few guests stayed there for 2 days during the occasion, and we feel that the staffs were very friendly and polite, truly 5-star services. The superior rooms are spacious, not to mention the comfortable bathroom with his and her basin. -I was told- that my bridal suite was upgraded to Oriental suite. The suite itself was really lovely with a bottle of champagne and congratulation card by the hotel manager; the one thing I regret is I can only enjoyed the suite for half a day…

Mr. Azumar was the contact person with whom we arranged the wedding package with; there were few occasions where there are miscommunication regarding the contract, but overall I am pleased with his assistance. The wedding buffet food was great, and chef Thierry was very friendly too.
The only downside with the hotel that I can think of is the car park; on certain levels there is no immediate access to the hotel so guests would have to walk out of the parking building to access the hotel, and the parking spaces are quite limited. However the hotel gave us free valet services for our guests during the wedding event, which were really helpful.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I highly recommended this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room which overlook Bundaran H.I. (the previously mentioned monument), the view is...

I was upgraded to a suite, for reasons unknown, and the space was terrific. I've stayed in entire hotel rooms that would have fit inside this suite's bathroom. Walk-in shower, office, living room, bed room, walk-in closet - all well appointed, and well lit. Terrific view of the traffic circle. Traffic is heavy in the area around the hotel - and not ideal for walking about. Check in and out was easy and uneventful and concierge service provided good directions.

Stayed for a week with work. Beautiful service. Lovely room on the top floor. Very luxurious but functions well for working too. Pool is small but refreshing. Spa treatment was outstanding. Breakfast options immense. Wifi overly expensive and should not be included.

Customer service always amazes me at the Mandarin oriental and the effort to address you personally. Rooms were very large and the bed to die for. If you are noise sensitive like myself, pls ensure that your room is not facing the street as this is very noisy. Rest all perfect except you have to pay for wifi if not negotiated w your room price.

i was recently on a business trip to Jakarta and stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The location was excellent and the hotel deserves its 5 stars. The rooms were very spacious and extremely clean. The same applied for the bathroom. The staff were exceptionally friendly and were incredibly helpful. The airline I travelled with had lost my luggage and the staff were very helpful and checked several times a day what the status of my luggage was and kept me informed at every stage. The executive lounge on 21st floor provided a good venue for meetings and work with excellent cuicine and drinks. All in all an excellent venue!

Stayed here for 2 nights for a weekend getaway. I chose to stay at the Oriental Suite, one lever higher grade than a Junior Suite. The suite was good and it had a nice layout. Loved the fresh smell on the suite. Cons: considered the suite to be small size for a specialty suite and some ceilings were too low in areas like foyer and bathroom. I could even touch it easily. Breakfast was okay in terms of selections but they could definitely improve the taste both their Asian and Western food. However, the biggest problem I encountered during my stay was the closure of their only swimming pool and recreational area for a private party for the whole day. This was so unaccepted as they took away paying guests' facilities just because they wanted to make more money. This was totally not a mandarin Oriental standard that I know of and sacrificing the guests right to use the hotel facilities is considered to be an unfair business conduct. I frequently stay at Jakarta's hotels but Mandarin Oriental Jakarta wouldn't seem to be my choice in the future.

Room Tip: Try other hotel rooms!!

..and that is no fault of the original planners!
I have stayed at 4 other hotels in Jakarta over the last 4 years or so...but this is the best, without the hideous over the top opulence of others: The hotel, staff, facilities etc are fantastic - the food is great, the breakfasts huge, the bar isn't full of ladies of the night unlike the Shang, Mulia etc.
Rooms are huge, maybe the separate toilet and bathroom could be rethought...
It's the location that is the problem. When first built - what a fantastic locale - now, sadly Indonesian sharia banking allows a version of HP so there are a hundred billion motorbikes clogging the roads; roads that are already clogged with some of the worst drivers in the world...and they all come round the central roundabout outside the hotel...as do all the demonstrations that take place at least twice a week!!
Even on the sunday "no car" day (6am-11am) you get free earplugs, as everyone is so happy to cycle and walk they just shout a lot and play music!
So, once you get here it's fantastic - just plan ahead when going out... :)
