Our organisation recently held a 2 day business meeting for a group of 30 representatives from around the Asia Pacific region at the Mandarin Oriental in Jakarta.

As the coordinator of the meeting, I was very impressed with the response to our initial enquiries, the follow up, preparation and provision of services by the hotel.

From the day of our arrival until we departed, all staff were very attentive to our needs, very responsive to our demands and friendly throughout.

We dined in the Cinnamon Room and Xin Hwa restaurants during our stay, and all of our regional representatives were unanimous in their praise of the cuisine and service at both.

Situated close to two major shopping complexes, it was also very convenient for our participants to shop during a busy schedule.

I do not hesitate to recommend the hotel for business meetings and would rate our experience as excellent.

Room Tip: Rooms off Jalan Thamrin would possibly be quieter, but noise levels were acceptable even on the busi...

The service was the best I ever had at a hotel. Anything I requested was granted. The view was great and the concierge floor was wonderful. I travel worldwide and the Mandarin topped any city hotel we ever stayed in. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable. It will be hard to top this hotels service. We stayed for 3 nights.

I normally choose this hotel when I have appointment in the German Embassy for visa application. Considering the hotel is just side by side to the embassy.

In total I have stayed in this hotel 3 times. To stay in this hotel is very pleasure experience.

The staff are really well trained, fast response, and very friendly.

The food in the restaurant is very recommended. The breakfast was the most amazing breakfast in my life ever. So many of variety of Indonesian, Indian, Cantonese, European Food, etc. They also have very tasty bakery.

Very recommended!

I recently stayed at the Mandarin for 1 night at the end of my business trip in Indonesia. The hotel is simply wonderful and the staff is absolutely fantastic. Everything was perfect, in the typical luxury MO standard.

We recently stayed at the Mandarin for 1 night prior to returning back to the US from Asia. The hotel staff was fantastic. We arranged a private airport transfer in advance and were greeted at arrivals and taken to a luxury van where towels and water awaited! The stay was during Eid, so there was no traffic in Jakarta, which is a rare event! Upon arrival, we were greeted like royalty. The hotel had upgraded us to a very nice club room on one of the top floors. The checkin process occurred within the room itself and we had a tour of the room. We decided to purchase the club access, which added another breakfast location, afternoon tea, and cocktail hour. It was well worth the cost. Our flight the next day was very late and we had read on the website that they do a 6pm checkout for 50% of the daily rate, which we were prepared to pay, but the hotel provided this to us complimentary! This gesture has made Mandarin one of my preferred hotels for the future. We had considered the other luxury hotels in the Hotel Circle Jakarta area, and decided to try the Mandarin, despite glowing reviews of another property!

Rooms: Spacious, nice bathroom. The closet was a decent size (Tokyo Peninsula closet has spoiled this for other properties forever). View was not spectacular, but Jakarta is not exactly known for a view. The Bed was very comfortable and had 5 star quality linens.

Staff: Great! We went to Skye for dinner and were trying to figure out the best way to get there, when the concierge had one of the bellman walk us there! Not expected, but this was a sign of a great staff!

Concierge: Provided great service and recommendations. Got us a last minute reservation at Skye with a table that had a great view right by the window!

Breakfast: Included breakfast with the room and club. We had heard good things about the buffet in the ground floor restaurant and went there. The morning manager was trying to steer us to the club for breakfast, but we decided to stay there anyways. The area was a bit chaotic, but the food was good, and as most asian hotels, was multi-ethnic. Coffee service was a little slow, however. After we ate breakfast we stopped in the club lounge and had cappuccino and the food was actually very similar. I think there were probably fewer options in the club though.

Club: There was always staff that was very helpful. The cocktail hour was fantastic. They served Australian Wines (Hardy's Stamp) which were ok. They had a good selection of light bites, including sushi! Tea time was also very good with a good selection of snacks and a pretty good tea. Interestingly it was not very formal and I did not see a list of teas.

From the moment we entered the deliciously scented, enticingly down-lit lobby and received our cold ginger drinks and lemongrass-scented welcome towels, we were well on the way to being fans. We got a free upgrade to a deluxe room, facing the Hotel Indonesia roundabout; what a gorgeous view! Loved the huge hot tub (which unlike some other hotel tubs, fills and drains really quickly with actually hot water). The tub looks into the room, and if you put down the privacy blind, you can keep the curtains open and look out at the centre of Jakarta while you soak. Or watch TV - there are speakers in the bathroom. The shower was heavenly - rain shower from the ceiling, as well as handheld - and all clad in marble which remains cool despite the steamy temperatures. It had a little ledge which made it like a Turkish hammam - you could sit and enjoy the steam. Toiletries were wonderfully scented. Everything about this room (which has a great sense of space) is so cleverly and instinctly designed to make things comfortable for the guest. Some may think it's nothing remarkable - but to find a hotel room where you can walk everywhere and find everything without tripping, stubbing your toe, turning out boxes and emptying drawers, isn't really all that common. I also loved the lighting, which was bright enough for anything, but even at max level never hurt the eyes. Couldn't find a thing to complain about - as with many hotels they don't provide an iron in the room, but the valet offered to iron my dress for free (even better). They don't automatically offer you a choice of pillows, but we called to get a harder pillow and two alternative pillows were brought up immediately. Breakfast was good - not the best I've ever had, but very decent. Very fresh orange juice and very thick coffee. The real honeycomb was a nice touch. Loved the atmosphere, the quiet and competent luxury, the fact that everything was as it should be. I'll be back as soon as I can!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view of the Hotel Indonesia roundabout! There's absolutely no noise on a hig...
