Hotel Neo Mangga Dua Square
Ranked #168 of 472 Hotels in Jakarta
Reviewed 18 July 2014

We spent a few days staying at the NEO Hotel Mangga Dua in Jakarta and overall we had a good stay.

The rooms were spotless and the hotel staff were all pleasant. However we had a room facing onto the railway tracks which was very noisy - we were given the option and were warned that it would be noisy, so if you want a good nights sleep, steer clear of the rooms with windows!

The bathroom was terrible however. You were unable to have a shower for more than two minutes as the shower 'area' would overflow into the main bathroom and flood the floor. Certainly a design flaw which needs to be looked into.

The hotel was right next to a large Carrefour supermarket which was great. It was also on one of the TransJakarta bus routes which runs between the Ancol theme park and the city centre.

I wouldn't have any reservations about staying in a NEO Hotel again, however if I were to visit Jakarta again I'd certainly stay a bit nearer to the city centre.

Room Tip: If asked for a room with a window, say no!

My family and I (4 people) was staying here from 29 June 2014 to 7 July 2014, we got two (2) standard room in 2nd floor. The hotel is by Aston international hotel brand, the famous brand in Indonesia.

The hotel is not too far from airport.
It's very near to shopping center at Mangga Dua like Mangga Dua Mall, ITC Mangga Dua, WTC Mangga Dua, Harco Mangga Dua and the hotel is connected to Mangga Dua Square, you can walk for just ±3 minutes, so It's a VERY strategic location for shopping lovers.

The room is nice & minimalist, nice bathroom, free & strong wi-fi, had a window, clean, the air conditioner & the tea/coffee maker & safety deposit boxes work perfectly, had a LCD tv with many channel, overall it's pretty comfortable.

The staff is polite & friendly(especially the female staff), they usually give 2 hours for borrowing a hairdryer but they let us borrow a it for a whole week. Car shuttle is cheap & nice driver, too.

The breakfast is not too good for an Indonesian people's tongue. at least It's my whole family's opinion.
Every Saturday night, there's an event for Indonesian-Chinese people to sing in front of Mangga Dua Square, our room is on west side so It's not so quite.

Overall It's good, recommended Hotel :)

Room Tip: Every Saturday night, there's an event for Indonesian-Chinese people to sing in front of Mangga...

We are happy that neo mangga dua hotel in jakarta is clean and very reasonably priced. Altho the staff are not that friendly, they are polite and honest. Once my husband left his camera at the reception, the hotel staff found the camera and return it to us immediately.

The hotel is just 5 minutes walking distance to the mangga dua mall where you can find carrefore and small shopping outlets. Transport is easy and cheap. We would recommend you Tanah Abang mall, wholesale market in Jakarta if you plan to do serious shopping on scarves and muslim clothes but this mall is quite far from hotel and you might face difficulty in finding your transport back to hotel; We would recommend ITC manggadua wch is 5 min by angkut(local taxi) from the hotel as they too offer wholesale price and you can find lots of cheap branded clothes.

We really enjoyed my shopping trip would come back again to ths hotel in our nxt trip to Jakarta.

we stayed in this hotel from 05 jun to 07 jun. at the outset , the hotel met all that it promised.Checking in & out was hassle -freeThe room was adequtely appointed with air conditioning doing a decent job.It was sufficiently large, neat clean , nice bathroom, & had a window.. Room service was good. Strong WiFi signal free.
The hotel had a decent restaurant which catered for all our needs. The bar was adequately stocked.Break fast was satisfactory offering local menu as also eggs to order. The hotel can , though , certainly improve upon the juices on offer. Fruits also below standard & inadequate.

Mangga Dua is a commercial area & hence it offered all that most tourists will need , with easy walk from the hotel. Nice shopping mall is close by. Money exchange is bit of a problem on fridays & holidays. Shops tend to close early. Taxis are easily available !

The real problem is traffic & reaching Mangga Dua from the Airport. It took eternity to cover small distance of 20 odd kms. No fault of the Hotel , though !!

The staff was friendly & eager to help. Not fluent in English but they could manage well.

Over all our experience was satisfactory. For the kind of rates on offer , its a decent place to stay for a short trip.

Room Tip: upper floors with view & windows

We didn't spend too long in this hotel as we only stayed here for the night between our late night flight into Jakarta and our early morning transit to Bandung the next day, so my experience may be a bit limited. This hotel was recommended by our travel agent as it's one of the newer ones in the area.

We were booked four twin rooms for our family. The rooms differed in size even though they're of the same price. The rooms were tight but clean. One down side is that the staff only left one set of some of the items (e.g., room slippers) even if there were two of us in the room and you had to pay a small fee for additional toiletries.

One thing to watch out for is the breakfast menu - really spicy with very few non-spicy choices. I ended up just eating cereals because everything else was too much for me. I get that they want to showcase Indonesian cuisine, but I hope they take note that many foreigners who come to visit don't have the same level of tolerance for spiciness as the Indonesians.

Probably the most notable advantage of this hotel is its location. It's within the huge Mangga Dua mall complex, which as we are told (didn't get to actually visit) is full of cheap shops and restaurants. It's also conveniently near the bus station.

In sum, it was not so bad, but I might try a different hotel next time I'm in the area.

Was very pleasantly surprised with my stay here. All was nice, new and modern. Check in was friendly and quick. WiFi free and signal strong. Even breakfast was better than expected.

Staff smiling, well trained and quick to respond to any requests. Would not hesitate to return whenever need to be close to Jakarta Expo :)

If need to mention some negative points, that would be not clean window from outside, I think, not cleaned since the building was finished... and no swimming pool...
