What you see is not what you get! that's the first impression when we saw the food! You will be surprised by what they serve you on table. A piece of chocolate is actualy a meat serve in a local dishes taste and one of the finale food which is the "dragon breath" where they serve the chocolate ball cracker with a safe chemical liquid that makes us breathing in smoke. The service is awesome, the food is curiously unique like a lab experiment space food and taste yummy. The chef is friendly with the patience of explaining his dishes one by one. Must go for those who seek something new in culinary experience.

We ate here in January this year, their second season menu, their menu is Indonesian cuisine with Molecular Gastronomy style (it's the first in Indonesia). First, when I make a reservation, I was a little worried about the taste, whether good or not, but in reality it was very delicious...

You must make a reservation to dining in here, the service for booking requirements, and pre arrival was also good. They have a 17-course set menu at this time, which priced about USD 100 / pax, I think it was very reasonable price, cheap enough if you compare to molecular gastronomy restaurant in Singapore.

The dinner start at 7.00 pm sharp, but in reality it was missed 15 minutes because they wait for other customer that came late (Namaaz have no name/neon sign in their restaurant, so it would be a little hard to find this restaurant). Namaaz did not intentionally install, to avoid guests who come directly (without reservation). The dinner start when all of the customer come, it was because to ensure that everybody experiences the same dishes together.

Prior to the main menu, the servant set up us a drinking water (Evian), and when main course is start, the chef Adrian Ishak was personally introduce himself, and then the first dishes come, during the dinner, the chef also visited the table, to present directly their dishes...

The Menu was:
1.Rujak Sawi Asin
2.Ampyang Datiak
3.Asinan Mangga (the presentation is like a raw yolk egg)
4.Bebek Penyet (Bebek is duck, but the presentation is 2 pieces of chili ;) )
5.Martabak Telur (Eggs Murtabak)
6.Sop Buntut (Oxtail Soup)
7.Sate Lilit (Minced Satay, but the presentation is like a lollipop ice cream)
8.Udang Telur Asin (Salted Egg Prawns)
9.Stup Kambing (Lamb)
10.Steak Rendang (Padang-style Beef Steak)
11.Coconut Cola (carbonated coconut water)
13.Es Teh Panas (Hot Tea with Ice :) )
14.Pisang Bakar (Grilled Banana, but presentation is like a candle)
15.Lollipop Mangga (Manggo Lollipop)
16.Vanilla Meringue (the famous Dragon Breath, when you eat it, it will smoke out of your mouth)
17.Es Kacang Merah (Red Bean Ice)

Number 1-3 is appetizers, 4-10 is main course, and 11-17 is desserts. Their menu is absolutely Indonesian cuisine, Chef Adrian says that when he is off, he went roving Indonesia, to seek inspiration for her cooking. For my taste, I find it very delicious, the portion was small, but it is a 17 course set menu, so I find my stomach is full enough. The taste, the portion, and the presentation, I think is a perfect one.

After the meal ends, the chef Adrian will personally come to your table, ask about how was the experience, etc, and if you want to take photograph with him, he would gladly do it. Nice :) The service is absolutely top notch here.

Atmosphere: The restaurant itself already move from the chaotic Fatmawati Road, in a small (just 8 seat) second storey restaurant to more upmarket Gunawarman Street, which have a more relaxed residence feeling. The new location bring very homey, relaxed atmosphere, this new location also more bigger than previous one...

So, it is my conclusion about my first Molecular Gastronomy experience, my experience here is absolutely exceeded my expectation. I was a little worried about the taste, whether good or not, but when the dinner ends, I think it was very delicious. The service was also top notch, Chef Adrian and their team make a big effort to make your dining experience here memorable one. The atmosphere is also very enjoyable, nice decor, lighting, it makes me feel very relaxed, like in my home, once you come in their restaurant, you will forget about the chaotic Jakarta-life.... After all, Namaaz Dining well deserve my very very rare 5/5 Trip Advisor's rating.... Good Job Chef :)

Recommended: Do I need to tell it again? :)
Return To Eat: Can't wait to their third season menu...
